  • Of the Bachmann Spectrum 1:20.3 scale cars, the D and RGW Long Caboose is perhaps the best they ever made. Full interior with working table and marker lights its a STUNNING model.
    Hard to find it's been out of production for years, they will sell for over $200 if you can find one.
    This one sort of turned up in the attic. We have been looking for some time on eBay and dealers and nothing has turned up. BUt in looking around in the attic, well there one was. Forgot I bought it way back when they came out. Oops. but SCORE!!!!

    I was up Weber Canyon one beautiful spring day and a train went by and one of the crew was just leaning on the rail and watching the world roll by. He waved and looked like he didn't have a care in the world. That's when they were just starting to phase out the caboose. I never forget that. Thanks for your work.

    • @ToyManTelevision
      @ToyManTelevision  3 роки тому

      Ah yes the days of the caboose! Mostly that crew would have nothing to do, but then the time will come when they have an awful lot to do. Which involved walking for miles along the train looking at wheel boxes and so on. Throwing switches, and lots of hard dirty work. But for the most part they just rode on the caboose.

    That caboose looks great, I'm very impressed with all the detail.
    I found it a humorous listening to the tale of the hunt for the Caboose... I have done the same thing, it's bad when you know you have what you are looking for but can't find it anywhere. So you go buy it all over again only to find it a bit later or as you are the repair.

There's one at the Brownsville museum of fine arts and the other 1 near Port Isabel Near a bridge before you enter South padre when you take a right right before he entered the ridge you could see the caboose Those are the only 2 cabooses I seen in person

    Watching this has made me just get one off eBay as the interior and lights are so good. We stayed in a Caboose near Williams a couple of years ago and was highlight of the trip for my son (who wasn’t that bothered about the Grand Canyon) plus my wife loves them so it’s an essential family purchase rather than an another parcel to be sneaked into the house....Price was quite high but was only £50 more than a San Juan On3 kit of the same wagon on eBay so can be totally justified purchase using “man maths”!

    The Bachman Spectrum long caboose is by far the finest model, not just caboose, but model produced in 1:20. Especially for the money they where when they came out. They did do the “RGS” single window cupola version. I can’t remember if it’s the peaked roof, or the round roof, both are correct, and for both RGS and DRGW. I believe the single window hacks were shop built, converted from boxcars.

    I really enjoy your channel. The field trips are fun and informative. The construction of miniatures and realistic railroad scenes are incredible. I just noticed today that you're voices each have their own channel. Unfortunately the L & R are reversed from your placement on the screen. Thanks for such informative and interesting content. I believe I found the channel through just a UA-cam suggestion based on my watching model railroading channels. And I have never found it boring.

      Yeah we don’t have the microphones labeled so sometimes left becomes right and right becomes left. Sometimes the problem happens when Karen’s lips are moving but the sound is coming out of me and so on. Return to speak for each other on many occasions! Nice model. For simple lights, you just need a rectifier from DCC track current, no decoder. And with tiny LED, you need a rectifier anyway for DC.
