Great timing. I started leveling DRK recently in my neverending quest to finally overcome my tankxiety and this vid shows up. Thanks for the concise and informative rundown!
To be more exact on how Living Dead debuff works since it's often misunderstood; they must be healed 100% worth of their max health over the course of the debuff, this does not mean they need to be healed to 100%. Say a DRK is at 1 HP with the Living Dead Debuff and has 1000 max HP; you heal them for 500 HP, then they take 200 dmg, and then you heal them again for another 500 HP. This leaves them at 801 HP but never hitting 100%. But, since you healed them for 1000 HP total, the Living Dead debuff is removed.
Great video ! I love dark knight. It has been my favorite tank since heavensward came out and was my main through stormblood and shadowbringers. Funny enough, what drew me to it at first were the berserk references and similarities when it was first released. Like how the npc that talks about Frey’s duel with a temple knight describes his sword in a very similar way to how the Berserk manga describes the Dragonslayer. I also liked how the final hit in the old aggro combo was an energy blast from the left hand, made me think of Guts’s cannon arm. I miss being able to spam abyssal drain while regaining mp from being hit like in the past though So many times I’ve had it where the healer died, I’m the only one left, and I pop living dead because the boss has less than 1% health. I kill the boss, the victory registers, and then I collapse because no one could heal me. Always makes me laugh
Desperius FFXIV agreed. back when you had the ability to regain mp from being hit (blood pain was it?) pulling huge groups and spamming abyssal drain, healers could go full dps. It was just crazy

I'm confused, I thought with tank stance changes we no longer have a 30% dmg debuff with Grit active. Unless in raid or 8man trial content not being the main tank, I have grit on the whole time.
@@NyreenGotto That's correct, they got rid of the debuff. Its just a call back to when that was a thing and all the tank wouldn't have on their stance to squeeze out the maximum amount of DPS while having aggro.

6:24 Dark Mind is more useful against tank busters. Doesn't mitigate for the party so you might as well rotate it in with your other defensive cooldowns.
One thing about the living dead, you need't have DRK healed to 100%. If the DRK has e.g 100k HP, you need to heal him 100k hp per 10 seconds. E.g. situation in a massive pull where the DRK HP is constantly 20k, but you have healed DRK 100k hp per 10 seconds, the condition on the buff will be satisfied and the DRK will not die, regardless that the HP pool never reached 100k
Does anyone know what song plays during the transition in the intro? It's very brief and the lyrics go something like 'All of your memories...', I checked the credits but none of the songs listed seem to be it.
If you're in a dungeon fighting the last boss, you don't need to heal the DRK towards the end. Just let them trigger living dead and they're immune for another 10 seconds, which is plenty of time to finish off a boss. As a healer, you can spend all that time DPSing the boss instead of healing the tank.

I don’t know about that. Tanking isn’t as much responsibility as you might think. There’s plenty of dungeons where dps have more responsibility than a tank.
Tanking is the easiest. As long as everything is hitting you, you're doing your job. The healer does all the actual work. The DPS can be trusted to clear adds or deal with most DPS checks. All you have to do is whack everything.
