@Nicholas Reilly IKR!!! AND Sole Survivor was a bit of healing and they were % based so really kept you in the fight for a while. Also miss having Dark Messenger to blind, then pop the parry buff. All while Salted Earth actually did something worthwhile, and hit Scourge on the beefiest one in the group. Good times man.
Your self healing does contribute to dispelling Walking Dead, it's just so much more efficient for a WHM to bene that most people don't realize how the mechanic actually works. You don't ever have to actually hit max hp to dispel it, you just have to receive healing equalling your max hp in that 10s, from any source including your own, so if you have 200k hp, use LD and trigger it, get healed for 100k, take 50k damage and then are healed for another 100k within that window, you're fine even though the window ended with you at 75% hp

I love drk. Blackest Night every single tank buster for free flood of shadows. So much magic and physical reduction. SO many off GCD abilities so it feels like you always have something to do
I've actually thought of a good change for living dead. Once your hp drops to zero you will enter a state where the damage you receive is turn to hp and over heal will turn to shield once the timer is up.
The Blackest Night is my favorite ability not just because of its power but because of its meaning lorewise *Spoilers for drk questline* “In your darkest hour, in the blackest night… think of me… and I will be with you. Always. For where else could I go? Who else could I love but you?”
The dark knight looks like a greatsword version of BDOs sorceress instead of a scythe It looks awesome i like the facetank playstyle a lot more than dashing arround between each attack
In my opinion to make living dead useful would be to give DRK a risk reward ability. Instead of delirium being a copy paste from warrior, we can exchange health for more damage for a short period of time. The ability can kill us if not careful but that would be where living dead comes in and we become near unstoppable as we can endlessly use the life exchanging high damage at no cost in a better way that suits DRK.

lol. Lore wise, the first dark knight was a paladin that cast aside his shield and oaths because his oaths demanded that he overlook a child predator who got a legal pass because of his connections and position in the clergy. So instead of doing what the law demanded, instead of doing what his oaths demanded, he grabbed a fuckoff sword and killed the kiddy diddler. That's a Dark Knight. Someone who loves his fellow man greatly, and so hates the wicked that abuses them with such a passion that it can be weaponized. Basically, Batman. In fact, a lot of people were making batman jokes when the class was first introduced.
I like DRK. But something needs to be done about Delirium. It’s basically Inner Release for DRK and people have rightly criticized the skill ever since the beginning of Shadowbringers. Needs to be reworked in Endwalker along with some tweaks

As a new player leveling DRK at the moment, i would have a question even if i don't have this skill yet, just to understand better the class: Isn't the way TBN works a problem at some point ? Not sure how gearing and scaling works in this game but if at some point you are geared enough to make the shield difficult to break, casting it would result in a «significant» dmg lose and not casting it would make the DRK more vunerable that others tanks since TBN is supposed to be an active mitigation and not a cooldown, right ? Or am i wrong in the way i look at it ?
Yes, using TBN while in a situation it won't break would result in dps loss. But then again, many skills require correct timing to be useful, even something as simple as Rampart needs to be timed correctly for maximum benefit. Basically, TBN is great to use for big pulls or mitigating tankbuster and feels bad for small pulls, unless you get fuzzy feelings over mobs hitting 0s on you. Each tank have their own defensive cooldowns, which act as active mitigation, but each tank also have different feels of squishyness to them due to their toolkit. Having only DRK as 80 and other tanks at 71-73 I might not have complete experience, but imo GNB feels squishy, unless you keep brutal shell+heart of stone/the skill which can share brutal with other party member active, PLD has the sturdy "tanky tank" feel with its naturally higher block chance due to having shield (I might be wrong) and Sheltron, which increases block chance even higher, WAR has so many buttons to mitigate damage taken it feels immortal to go around and Decimate spam trash pulls to next Christmas and finally, DRK might not have as many buttons for pure mitigation, it has Abyssal drain, which is pretty strong aoe dmg and self heal against big pulls, like War and Gnb has some self heal in their 123 combo and the famous TBN as greatest mitigation tool out of all tanks. TL:DR Unlike some mitigation tools, effective use of TBN aka getting the shield to break everytime requires practice and some knowledge of enemy moves. Also, TBN can be used on other party member, you can be a bit cheeky and throw it on someone in party list that seems to get hit often or have less max HP, since iirc TBN scales on targets hp. Edit: I use TBN more like panic button if my health drops way faster than it should or if I've forgotten the name of boss' tankbuster. Blood weapon, Delirium and Carve and Spit gets that mana back quite nicely, if shield didn't break.
Not a topic related question, but does the game recognize you as a 'poster boy' during MSQ? Does Dragoon get extra dialogue lines In Heavensward? Samurai in Stormblood? Or Dark Knight in Shadowbringers?
As finicky as the invuln is...nothing is more satisfying than cheesing mechanics as a zombie and watching the WHM/AST drop that fat bene/dignity on you at the last second.
What would be coold main tank / off tank party set ups you would recommend and why? Like i comented on the AST video, currently healers are very straighforward, WHM + AST or SCH + AST since it can change sect to adapt ( which will change soon ) but what would be the best dynamics for tanks in your opinion?
Many players like Dark Knight and Paladin, as they are very flexible for switching, while the overall power comb is GNB + PLD, or PLD + WAR, as far as I know

If that doean't work there should be a little exclamation mark under the msq scenario in the upper left corner of the screen that you can click on to open a map displaying the quest's location.

And the new number one reason to play Dark Knight: “Enhanced Unmend”
Blood weapon, Delirium and Carve and Spit gets that mana back quite nicely, if shield didn't break.
i am planing to start ff14 maybe i missed it but which level and class do i need for dark knight? Also which class got the fastest phase combat thanks
Wait... Did you just use the dmc 3 opening theme?
Oooohhhhh…the Dark Side always looks awesome.
There's no better feeling than going in a dungeon and taking agro of every single mob with dark knight.
what sword are u using?
I need to know which glam you are using!!!!
Not a topic related question, but does the game recognize you as a 'poster boy' during MSQ? Does Dragoon get extra dialogue lines In Heavensward? Samurai in Stormblood? Or Dark Knight in Shadowbringers?
Unfortunately not, but in Heavensward some lines did change, when you finished some Dragoon Job quests
I struggle between dark night and gunblade:(
Devil May Cry...3 I think? Nice touch for music
Plz tell me what awesome hairstyle that is and where to get that
It is "Early to rise" and can be received through the market board
@@DesperiusFFXIV thanks! /looks at price with HW 3.1 character and faints
10/10 for ending the video on with bury the light
As finicky as the invuln is...nothing is more satisfying than cheesing mechanics as a zombie and watching the WHM/AST drop that fat bene/dignity on you at the last second.
What would be coold main tank / off tank party set ups you would recommend and why?
Like i comented on the AST video, currently healers are very straighforward, WHM + AST or SCH + AST since it can change sect to adapt ( which will change soon ) but what would be the best dynamics for tanks in your opinion?
Many players like Dark Knight and Paladin, as they are very flexible for switching, while the overall power comb is GNB + PLD, or PLD + WAR, as far as I know
@@DesperiusFFXIV much obliged!
It makes sense, that PLD is always there, with the wings skill for example that can protect the whole party ( forgot the name ), and his self healing for the oh shit situations.
@@DesperiusFFXIV as an ex-tank main, I honest to God loved going in as a DRK and seeing my comrade in blue being a WAR. Especially in tank buster heavy fights like e10 and e11, or for fights from previous tiers, e1, e3, e5, or even the current unreal, titan, where the sheer single target mitigative power of the DRK and the self sustain of the WAR can shine through the lack of raid cooldowns of not having a PLD.(there is nothing more satisfying than TBNing a WAR through BOTH parts of powder mark and watching him self heal afterwards)
I'm a 70 drk knight been away from the game 3 yrs. I can't get the feel of it. Any places I can practice, any suggestions on my rotation playing on Ps4. Thanks in advance.
Hey man, love the vids! DRK has been my main for so long and I'm always happy to see it get some love. Keep up the great work man!
(What chest piece glamour is that?)
Thanks alot, the Chest piece is the "Uraeus Coat"
@@DesperiusFFXIV Thank you!
The Devil may cry music earned a like by itself
I'm going through all the tanks atm and haven't really enjoyed drk from how long you have to wait for your mp to come back. It's like 4-5 comboes when blood weapon is down, and cave and spit is on a minute cd. The opener feels really cool but then it gets really boring. Does that improve much?
I feel this gets much better as Main Tank, when using TBN etc. And still much more action driven, than the down-phase of a Warrior.
I'm going to be maining Dark Knight in End Walker in honor of Berserk
So basically, Best shield/damage mitigation, and style?
I'm enjoying warrior so much but Im curious about DK
The DMC 3 Music!
Sometimes i just stand in boss cone damage so he can break my shield...feels bad when you use TBN and it doesn't break...like c'mon hit me!
Do a MCH one
For some reason, I find it really metal that you speak German and play DK (among other classes). Edgy dark class + some epic one-liners in German = win.
🤘
Lol I use a Dante cosplay for my DRK too, no spikey armor here 😅
Also awesome use of DMC music 👌
