make the transport and logistics of ground vehicles just as important as the war ships. I am still at a loss as to how the AT-AT gets in and out of a star destroyers, i would also like to see how the star fighters dock or lock onto the carriers, again in SW the tie fighter seems to have 1000 ways of attaching to the roof of the hangar and each movie does it slightly different

You may want to reconsider the name of this particular world.
There is a copyrighted hard science fiction setting called The Orion's Arm Project, owned by a group called Orion's Arm Universe Project Incorporated.
The similarity in names would cause considerable confusion, given that the premises of the settings differ so fundamentally.

While there's nothing wrong with trudging on well trodden paths, the lack of concrete factions and power dynamics due to the its nature as a concept showcase made this setting feel flat compared to the previous ones. Though as a Filipino, I wanna see how the Japanese and the Americans will explain what the hell happened down here to summon a literal eldritch nightmare. Also, theorising the post-post-post-modern iterations of world ideologies is always fun. The exercise usually reveals a lot about the author and their worldview so wanna see your take hehe. Cheers!

I like this setting, and also feel like there's a touch of Muv Luv in the "fall of Earth" prologue (especially Alternative V/Operation Babylon with the post-evacuation glassing of Earth), just swap the BETA for the Scinfaxi.
The recurring problem with this sort of interstellar setting is that you turn every world into the sort of single-biome, single-government, or single-city planet that plagues the genre, when logically every settled planet would have, well, a whole planet's worth of content. On one hand, you can zoom in and out or move all over the place to cover whatever your story needs, but you could do very similar on the scale of a single planet, just trade planets for countries, with major corpos either at the country level or slightly below.
If anything, I'd be most interested in the middle setting here, at the front edge of the colonization effort. Earth could be the place for "normal" stories, colony convoys for some of that BSG drama, and the fledgling colonies themselves for the real pioneering drama and governments that are cooperating on their face while trying to secure an edge at every turn.

I was thinking the opposite. Lose the boring alt-history "war of the worlds" introduction, replace it with something simple like war or anthropogenic climate change rendering the planet uninhabitable. Make the "last evacuation" more somber and depressing than outright traumatic. Then focus on the interstellar cold war which becomes much more realistic if humans never had an outside threat unifying them and if they only have other humans to blame for the loss of the homeworld.
Let the last "holoimage" (or whatever) of the brown uninhabitable rock that was Earth be a chip on every human's shoulder. Turn it into something that every student across every world is taught, except it's been misappropriated and it's become propaganda for every superpower to blame the others for. Meanwhile the actual truth is ambiguous and lost to time.

The comments section and my brief familiarity with this universe led me down a rabbit hole.
I first heard of the Dawn Of Victory Project because of a piece of art when I was looking for War of the worlds fanart. I found the piece of art of The First Scinfaxi War and briefly looked over the universe and thought it was a neat worldbuilding project that wore its inspirations on its shoulders. It reminded me of my own project. And when I saw that art in this video...
This is something special to Marc. Marc created Dawn of Victory back in the day. That's something I just learned by doing some research through the old sites. This seems to me like an attempt to recapture a project that Marc put his passions into, but life had him move onto other projects like the Institute itself.
I'm going to vote for this because I can relate to having a rough project that I want to go back to with my new skills and make it better. It's how my own worldbuilding project has gone for the last decade.
PS: Road to War remix is fantastic and I love the ideas of post-alien invasions too

This is my second favorite of these settings, so I'll leave a comment here too. I don't have much to say except that this is a very big setting. To really do justice too it, and your goals of geopolitics, there's a lot of detail you'll need to go into. Otherwise you risk doing what star wars does, minimizing the planets to tell stories of the stars. It might be in your comfort zone, but there's a lot of it to do.

I also love the different societies. It would be interesting to explore how the different societal structures evolve and at what point there is the "great filter" where the society either either is stagnant and cannot evolve further or degrades and cannot reach space again.
As I read the comment about logistics, I have to say I love the phoenix class ships from halo and the Spirit of Fire.

I quite like this idea. It has echoes of where I wish the halo universe had gone post Bungie. And that is into the direction of a interstellar cold war, in Halo you have two factions that are the military leaders, one with it's entire leadership and administrative center completely destroyed, and the other with it's leadership intact, but so much of it's industry completely destroyed. Each struggling to reassert authority over the litony of breakaway states and new factions that are forming in the wake of the last interstellar war.

I like this one, for being a space setting, for one, I've wanted to see a really new one a while. As for the sensitivity issues, I imagine a lot of these powers and ideologies probably would have had to adapt, maybe fail and reboot, just with everything going on, and over that time and space. ...for instance, maybe Japan's more interesting when it's modernizing/balancing with tradition. I could see, for instance, in that timeline, Japan can't really mess with Manchuria cause the rest of their empire is getting alienified, ...factions like Tojo's lose influence, maybe you have a more modern guy like Yamamoto and of course the Navy and what follows rise to prominence, even basically like be Shogun, and you know, maybe all kinds of other powers spawned versions of themselves that are less or more problematic than the real-world atrocities.
(Which leads me to wonder if they have FTL travel/comms? )

One thing to consider, as others have mentioned regarding scale inconsistencies in other franchises like Star Wars and Star Trek, etc., because we have 3D applications like Blender which are widely available to the public, it is possible to now build "scale models" that are 1:1 with typical human size and not just ensuring ship and vehicle sizes, but also interior to exterior.

This is tempting. I feel the need to know how Earth managed to develop interstellar technology within 2 centuries at a fraction of resources available in OTL, especially since exponential economical growth we enjoyed thanks to automation and computers would come much later. Not to mention just what kind of interstellar technology are we talking about: ramjets, Alcubierre, wormholes, something stranger... Still, I think that Mad Max/Roadside Picnic lovechild that is Taangali is too original to pass on.

An interesting premise, one with a lot of potential with how grounded it is in history. If I may, I'd like to point out a few areas I personally would hate to see ignored outright if you choose to develop this setting further.
If you're going to be taking cold war geopolitics, the political blocs of the early 1900s, and then have these come together 200 years later in space after the Earth has been destroyed, you would be remiss to neglect the lasting impact of colonialism and imperialism and the role they played in the historical Cold War. You've already mentioned how the neglect of the world powers towards their colonial subjects exacerbated the crisis, but your focus then largely pivoted after that point to focus on the actions of the political blocs.
I understand that the impact of colonialism and imperialism isn't on your list of themes, but given your chosen inspirations and tenets, it would be foolish to neglect them. There's a reason why many anti-colonial, anti-imperial, anti-racist, and anti-fascist movements adopted communism as a guiding ideology.

Though directly working on nations and ideologies from the real world are liable to backfire in the form of internet drama. :V
