Jordan Peterson. Just a guy from a small town who tries his best to reduce unnecessary suffering. While this speaks well of him, what does it say about the rest of us that we find him so remarkable?

@@solaveritas2 How do you know? I would rip JP to shreds in any debate. Take a shot at these: Question -- Here are 5 dichotomies: See if you can guess which JP is, A. or B. in each:
      A. Only humans understand our place in time and space.
      B. A rat is an excellent model of a human.
      A. The US is not more polarized than in the past.
      B. The US is more polarized than in the past. The tension is palpable.
      A. I am a credible scientist.
      B. 95% of what I say is rubbish, and I don’t know if I realize that voluntarily or involuntarily.
      A. It would be great if Trump were at least normally incompetent and foolish. He has multiple flaws.
      B. Trump clearly has a very high IQ.

@@andrewrodriguez7310 True, Peterson contradicting himself. What depth and understanding am I missing? In the GQ interview he says we don't have an over population problem, in another he says our waste is destroying the oceans. He agrees with core values of post modernists, which I think would make him a post modernist.. another contradiction. He also says the West is an oppressive patriarchy. It seems he can't keep straight what he says from lecture to lecture.

Watching his many videos, I see a Jordan Peterson, particularly when he was younger, who had a more scientific approach, "if you're suffering: its because of this, and you need to change this" type of energy and mentality, i feel as if over time, encountering many people, his heart for humanity is bigger and he realizes that its not always a one size fits all approach, though he is still science driven, his heart grew, and he can be seen with more compassion, I like who he has become. Almost a better father I feel.

When I was a kid thinking about the sorrows of the world, people told me not to think that way. "You can't think like that, it will kill you. Or just make you wretched. There's nothing you can do about all that."
As a matter of self-preservative we disconnect ourselves from the suffering of people we will never meet. Their suffering is happening far away. We've got real problems of our own, right here, right now.
I get the impression that the sorrows of the world are more real to Peterson than to most of us.

It's good to be reminded that we are worthy. It's easy to forget sometimes. These days, the minute you disagree with someone, they belittle you and that can make you feel unworthy. Living with anxiety and CPTSD from abuse, it can be tough sometimes just when faced in a situation where I have to respect myself because another person won't. These little reminders are what helps, and I can reply this in my head in times of need. And there are many people's words I turn to when needed. This one has been added to that file in my brain.

Thank you thank you .... for posting this .... it takes so much integrity and moral fortitude, telling the truth no matter what. So many of us suffer through anxiety and depression. It brings you to yourself, your Being, at what can be described as your weakest place. It is difficult to not only look into who you are at the depth of your Being in the chaos, but accepting and surrendering at this point of your suffering. The gift is in coming to the end of myself, saying "here is all my pride. Take it! Chaos - enemy of my Being."
Now what...? Take my will Lord and make it Yours. Love comes down and rescues us.
"Sometimes you're just the most tired of trying to be strong. You have those Jacob dreams, and you dream of what might be. And this is the dream that comes true - that makes all the stressed things come untrue: the real amazing dream is that there are no ladders to climb up, because Christ came down one to get you."

How many lies he's had to break down. How much vicious things/accusations/etc have been said about him. So when he's saying things like "you have a spirit worth preserving" he's saying that to anyone who needs to hear it, and I think in this case, he needed to hear it. I dont doubt for a second he was coming from a place of empathy for people he's helped... but maybe that includes himself sometimes.

I don't think it's an option because there's just an endless amount of misery that it's just not always possible to stand on just only one of those legs for extended periods before it does us in. ESPECIALLY if you're struggling and suffering terribly with your relationship with metaphysics. We all need all the help we can get to reinstate the dynamic peace and harmonious balance between heaven and hell, benevolence and malevolence, etc.

I remember when i was a teenager i used to go thru alot of stuff at school and in my personal life so my aunt told me i needed to go to a therapist and i told her i was afraid of people thinking im crazy or something like that, she told me even some therapist need therapist, that changed my perspective in alot of ways, were all human and were all trying to help each other out, sometimes society creates these stereotypes and prejudices about what it means to do something like the immature tought i had when i was young, of course ive matured by now but i still keep learning small things like that, no matter how much you grow or learn as a person, theres still room for more and we shouldn't think we arleady know everything, that can sometimes mean being humble enough to accept help from others, or sometimes it means you need to take acountability for your own well being( although searching for help is taking acountabilityfor your well being too), its a balance

The Buddhists refer to 'the wheel of life' - it's repeated, inter-generational patterns of belief and behavior repeating. I had two grandfathers I believe were both alcoholic. They also were involved in major wars and may have had PTSD. hat's just one of many things that can reach down through generations, by damaged done to their children, then their children's children. What helped me was stopping to simply try to fix myself (individual symptoms - not the cause), then looking wider at the family I came from and the dysfunction there - and how I came to be who I was with the hangups I had - seeing the whole picture - the wood, not just the trees.

I recently returned to my home state of Oregon to find that while I was gone it became a Democrat stronghold of oppression and hate. I try to keep a positive outlook, but I fear I'm running out of energy for the task of trying to turn things around.

Just Me Just be kind to others, one person at a time. Your lovingkindness is radiant and much more powerful than you can imagine. The Democrats rely on force which always sets up a counterforce whereas love, like gravity is a field which subtly influences others. It’s best to simply steer clear of the really delusional people out there- like Antifa-power always triumphs over force in the end.

[Realize you are a worthy human being] Rex Murphy and Jordan Peterson, scary to watch these two minds attempt to dumb down the median intellect of society, but lets watch: 'To get a taste of the depth of despair that can be ameliorated with not much more than some words of encouragement, you are not worthless, the things you do in your life correctly are important, people are literally dying, hundreds of people are still alive because they watched my lectures...'
[People are dying because they don't get words of encouragement? Hundreds of people are alive simply due to watching Jordan Peterson lectures? Of course this helps us get a grasp of the level of intellect and understanding of the type of people who turn to JP for wisdom. The super confused, trailer park mentality, I discovered my purpose when Jordan Peterson told me a tree is real, type of people. OK JP helps lost souls, I mean like super lost and mentally unsophisticated. I am happy for them. Certainly the stupid person's intellectual.]

Why? If the biblical worldview is not true, if materialism is true, why is anyone worthy of anything? We're just meat. Evolved animals. When we die, that's it.
Only God - the biblical God - gives human beings the worth they so desperately need and desire.

Maybe pay attention to the conviction with which you express these statements. It comes across as if you KNOW something that by definition is a subjective belief. There is a fallacy there and I would implore you to explore it. "Just" evolved animals; without the preconception resulting in the word "just" you might be more inclined to pay attention to the absolutely humility inducing complexity of the whole system rather than bundle all that information under the mantel of a disparaging adverb.
      I come in peace.

I actually predicted, after watching this and some other videos around the same time, that we were watching Peterson go crazy right before his eyes. I don't wish him ill, and I hope he recovers, however arguably that much self absorbed and arrogant nonsense... it is bound to catch up to you. Peterson says the depth of despair can be cured with words of encouragement... so he slipped further into despair because he got no words of encouragement?

Crying is a form of therapy and can heal people through saddening events. As a psychologist, I’m sure Jordan embraces crying, not as a way to be a “pussy” but to purify the negativity accumulating in his mind

@@DeconvertedMan I agree it is painful, but our man Dr. Peterson has many lectures on pain, strife and molevolence and would not want to candy coat or shy await that life can be hard, difficult, unfair and nasty. He would not run away from these uncomfortable topics and would encourage all who listen to him to face life with vigour, toughness and resilience.
