New to this channel, but the interviewer who kept pushing this idea that Peterson should enter politics was a bit annoying. I get the idea, and I do respect it, but it was like you couldn't take no for an answer and kept hammering at it. While wasting a significant amount of my time as a possibly new viewer.
You also were seemingly convinced that Peterson didn't understand you. While he actually did, and was politely/intelligently telling you why he wasn't interested in a career in politics. Regardless of the whole "unwanted hero" spiel you kept playing at him. (And it's pretty understandable he wouldn't go into politics when you look at how Jordans life has been the past few years. Makes sense he wants to stick to what he enjoys).
It was as if you were so convinced that your idea was brilliant, that you got fixated on it. And kind of automatically tuned-out what was being said to you in response...It's great having ideas, they're for sure fun to contemplate. I get that. But it gets annoying when you ignore input because you think you're the smartest cookie in the jar.
Still upvoted the interview ofcourse.
Irony of power is that those most deserving never want it.

Let's think for a moment how humble Jordan is:

* honestly and openly considered the points of opposition
* when he found out he's wrong he changed

He's views on possibly being boxed in once he is elected are a real threat to his reach and freedom to speak publicly without prejudice or hurting political alignment. He always stated harshly against toxic political correctness and things don't change overnight. It just might take a few other changes for a man such as him to be able to fully assume public office as we would like it.
Also, don't forget our own cognitive biases and always remain skeptic even when someone like him, that we look up to, gets elected. One thing I can say though, is that he has always shown an unique ability to ponder and weight out most factors on any problem and try to come with a reasonable answer to the best of his capabilities even though it might take a toll on his mental health. Self sacrifice and understanding empathy through pain is... just...

6:48 I agree with this so much. People are so comfortable avoiding conflict and letting things fester because if they wait long enough, it goes away. For them. Not having them engage and actually get PAST something that's creating a wedge is so damn frustrating. Instead of coming to some kind of understanding, you're left always with that problem in the back of your mind, and the longer you wait, the easier it is for them to say "wow, you're still on that? ehn, I mean he's smart and does point out some very intuitive points, but I think he's more of a good linguist who's mastered the art of garnishing simple concepts into terms that are methodically difficult to comprehend, therefore, difficult to prove or disprove. I also notice that in a way, his communication style is intelligible which makes for simple and superfluous points sounding convoluted and well thought through. He's also become a lot more ideological and less scientific since he's become popular, which I think is expected when you become such a polarizing socio-political figure people look up to for answers, it incentivizes you to justify your opinions with psueo-facts in times when they are all just simple human opinions.

Imagine it though... a PM that gives his open and HONEST opinion and stands by it, right or wrong. One that LISTENS to the voices of everyone, takes those opinions and points of view in, considers them and then responds intelligently would be quite the thing to see in a leader. We can dream.
Insightful
I think he would run independently, no?
Group identity is not really his thing
yes but it takes more than that. i agree his logic is sound but even he said he doesnt have the stomach for it and makes more impact now because it would probably fuck him up and put him in a box which is fair enough. i would have to say the same for most ppl including myself.
this job is not for the light hearted, you have to be willing to be the centre of strength around a load of intensely fucked up people constantly trying to sabotage or suck up to you which tends to fuck people up. You start to lose a sense of whats right and wrong with horribly critical news outlets lying about you, questioning your every move and a world of pressure.
whats probably worse is what happens behind the scenes with all the advisors and fbi officials/pentagon etc who have been in power for 50+ years. and then after all that you have to soak in all this knowledge and learn this confusing info from the national security and it tends to put people in a different frame of mind one thats not necessarily better for the country but "safer" i may add. which is probably why shit never changes that much..
luckily a good president will bring in a team of strong people with them that will fuck shit up, they really need to focus more on this and explain this to the people when we elect them and be more open about who they are bringing in beforehand with them so we also have a say in for that.
It’s clear from his twitter and general worldview what side of the aisle he leans towards. No need to act as if he is some neutral independent being
People SAY that is what they want, and some of them, such as yourself, are genuine. But MOST people, at the end of the day, vote for the guy that tells them what they want to hear.

Honestly mate I would vote for him too, I wish JP was british!
I love how confused the interviewers are when Jordan says he has more of a cultural impact now than he would as a PM. His lectures, tours, books and appearances on podcasts have helped probably tens of thousands of people and are watched by millions all over the world. As a PM he would be held back by the people around him, he would be treading water, surrounded by people who work against him, he would be terribly ineffective.
To me, its the most obvious thing in the world. PM would literally be a step back for him.
I thought that being the leader of the 10th richest country by GDP would be a step up... But after hearing why it wouldn't it definitely makes sense as to why it's not a step up if he wanted to keep doing precisely what he was doing. So I think the confusion is warranted and potentially common, just an explanation is most certainly needed for people.
To a large extent.
I am reminded of the statements of two luminaries.
"Politics is temporary, physics is forever"
And "Politics is downstream from Culture"
Millions of people. Not tens of thousands... Millions
The last 2 years I am amazed from his lectures and way of thinking!
As an American, born and raised on a Federal military installation, I salute Dr. Peterson's desire to avoid conflict while having the means to win. I am an American, I am with you he'd have my vote.
And from South Africa. Go for it Jordan.
I’d move to Canada from Australia in a heart beat 🇦🇺✈️ 🇨🇦

I would not vote for him because he would be used. Honest people need common sence and because his way of going on he would be eat alive by the wolves .I doubt he would last 6 months. You need a narcissist to do the work. One who controls the mind and the people a good person for lying. is that not what all politicians are. Say one thing and meen another don't answer questions but questions another He is good but has not the killer instinct
As a Mexican, I would love to have Jordan Peterson as a primary partner to Mexico if he became prime minister. The whole world needs leaders with a mind like JP. His books, lectures and advice has helped me so much. Coming from an immigrant background, I've never looked up to such strong male figures the way I do with JP. Thanks to him I'm a Christian and have found purpose in life. Thanks to him, I stopped consuming porn and married my college sweetheart. Thanks to JP, I can see the world for what it is, clear away from the progressive indoctrination crap.
That's great, he's helped so many people, and yet gets regularly slammed by idiots with agenda's.
He is a genius. There are not many like him...
@kevin what is your favorite book by him?
We have a canditade running for leadership of the conservative party right now that may actually be just as good if not better.

How quickly and confidently he said yes to that question gave me a huge burst of excitement. The intelligence and common sense this man has is just so incredibly profound. I hope he acts on his discussion here.
He only said yes to 'have people asked you about it', he effectually said no to 'would you go for it'. He literally said he doesn't have the stomach for it.
@@namesecond6186 and he's right. They would destroy him as Prime Minister so I'm guessing it would be good for global elite, because right now JP is quite dangerous for them.
I'd love to see peterson as a world leader. Definitely would help many people's lives and outlooks on life.
A world leader is what the NWO people, esp. the UN which is a luciferian cult, wants. Please be careful, this world government will be pure evil, communision is upon us plus beware of these digital wallets that will control us that Hitler or Stalin would be envious, plus the patent # is 060606. What a coincidence. BTW, I don't believe in coincidences. God Bless U & your family!
He already is. He can't go around, ordering people what to do. All he can do is tell you how to make the right decisions.
Its a real shame that he doesn't wanna do it. He would turn Canada around in a matter of months, hell even the US and other western nations. He should become PM before he gets too old. Can you imagine any politician try to argue against? He'd pick them apart like nothing. 🤣 He might even be worse to argue against than Ben Shapiro.
he'd have to sell his soul to be a world leader
As an Australian I’d vote for him in a heartbeat!

I'd vote for Mr Peterson. He's a true Canadian and can lead us in the right direction
Don't be stupid. Trust in jesus

Excuse me, that’s Doctor Peterson.
Words cannot convey how grateful I am that someone like Jordan Peterson exists.
He's got my vote, but ultimately he has to decide where his efforts are best deployed. So far, he's shown reasonable judgment in one of the most unreasonable decades in living memory.
Honestly I'd go as far as to say he's probably been one of the MOST logical voices in these dark, panicky times. I think part of the reason politicians end up causing problems is that they are financially pressured by lobbyist corporations and super rich people. Lobbying needs to be illigal. We may as well just have the freaking corporations governing countries at this point.

As an American, I would move myself and business to Canada (barring any red tape) if this happens.
JP is an extremely rare treasure, the event would be first in the modern world to have a true intellectual whom is balanced and not selfish, well at least aware of what and who he is and can compensate appropriately.
Imagine that….🤔. 💯😎👍🏾 Team JP!!!

I would love to see this! JP would be an amazing leader for our country!! 🥰
JP has insanely more impact than the PM. I voted for Trudeau in 2015 when I was 18 and entering U of T. Then the C16 debacle happened and I discovered Peterson… he single handedly saved me from my borderline Marxism, and atheism.
😅
amen!
What a potent testimony
@@caswelljohnstone200 Its an anecdote. It aint much, but its an honest take.
Straight up, I'd seriously consider moving to Canada JUST because of that (born/raised in California).
The best leaders are reluctant ones.
Hear hear
Trump was reluctant. He said for 30 years that he didn't really wanna do it and that political life is mean and vicious
But he did it anyway and will do it again, giving his golden years to fixing the problems he saw and lived with as a younger man
This is a man that would be elected. Yes he has his enemies but he’s very well spoken. He has a very objective approach and most important he relatable. Infact if you asked me which individual in Canada would I elect he would be my first answer. I think he has received a lot of pushback over his years that he underestimates his popularity.
The PM Candidate's debate would be epic.
If he ever ran for PM, you wouldn't need to question his motivations and integrity because his track record speaks for itself. He genuinely wants to see people succeed through life and doesn't have an ounce of desire for selfish gain.
Loooooolll.
You always have to question people, especially people in high position of power
I think even JP himself would scoff and call you an idiot for this message :D Not an ounce of desire for selfish gain! Yeah, buddy. Totally.

Jordan peterson as PM of Canada would be perfect. I fully support and endorse his run for prime minister. He is exactly the right person to liberate and unite Canada 💕✌️🙏🥂
Through what exactly ?
Could u name one policy ?
I think JP is fantastic, but unite Canada? Leftists seem to have nothing but seething, irrational hatred for him. Unification depends entirely on the group that is intolerant.
I'd get dual citizenship to Canada just to have the chance to cast my vote for JP.
Easiest decision of my life.
Jordan Peterson's wisdom and ideas really a gift to people and we have to thank God for raising these type of man during this moments when truth is being destroy but we need to keep repeating it over and over like Jordan he inspires thousands and millions that alone starts the change.
I would trust his judgement, fairness, wisdom and logical planning, over any politician.
ah, because of all his experience in ruling and governing? You dweebs are so dumb. Governing is super hard. Having some psychology and philosophy won't make you a good politician AT ALL. The only people who think that ''all politicians are bad/corrupt'' etc are people who have never worked in a government. It's super hard.

Check Jordans recent comments online. He supports and admires Trumpisn and the extremist right wing government currently ruling over Alberta. Do your research before supporting Jordan based solely on his sensible stance against gender fluidity and compelled speech. Those are obviously admirable positions, but his support of fascistic regimes is dangerous.
Someone like him would actually be the right person for the job. Even for people who don't like him, their lives would improve
They would as long as he had allies in the bureaucracy. If not, he's dead in the water. This is the lesson of Trump.
Would he? I highly doubt. Not because he's not a capable individual, but because politics is not what the vast majority of us think it is.
Democracy, law, justice? Nope.
I don't want to see Peterson being torn apart. He's got a different job to do, and he's quite successful at it. Why sacrifice him in the name of idealism?
It would have been better to find a power hungry beast inspired by Peterson, that can actually operate among those sociopaths, liers, murderers and thieves.

I've actually been hoping for this...he's smart and has a good understanding of people, with his psychology background he'd make a very good diplomat. His rational decision making is desirable for a leader.
I’m not sure Jordan has the personal make up to deal with the stress that politics brings. But man. If I was Canadian. He’d get my vote no doubt. The most thoughtful individual I have ever followed.
I think your exactly right. Lobbyists put tons of pressure on politicians to work in their favor, rather than the peoles favor. I think Peterson would be less likely to give in but at the same time, the job of being a politician seems to merely entail appeasing lobbyists at ths point I'm afraid.
that is my first thought too... i would never wish him to need to endure that. he has already been through so much. but you can guarantee that if he did we would all support him 100% and wrap him in prayer daily!!

His authenticity shines through especially because he is not afraid to show his vulnerability. To me this shows real strength and courage not whatever the hell Trudeau is doing right now.
Yes indeed. I believe part of the problem is that the winner take all system does not attract genuine, honest people like Peterson. Instead, you have to lie, dither, and pander to the electorate to get elected and stay elected. And once you get elected. if you get re-elected, you have a pension for life! There is no incentive to be honest and to negotiate with other parties across those honest positions. European politicians who have proportional representation behave much better. There is no tacky marketing to win as all parties know one has to negotiate instead.

Man, if JBP runs for PM I'll literally fly back to Canada just to cast my vote for him. While I see his point about the downsides of getting involved with politics, I also feel like he might be underestimating the positive effects it'll have if he makes it. For starters, he already has so much material available through the form of books, videos, lectures, podcasts, etc. that the sheer exposure and platform he'll get will draw so many people to those content, and help so many of them. I wish he'd run.
i think JP is right, he's more influential where he is at the moment.
What we need is a group of people who are in effect his diciples, who can run for things.
He'd be the most intelligent PM we've had in a long time, perhaps ever.

yes but it takes more than that. i agree his logic is sound but even he said he doesnt have the stomach for it and makes more impact now because it would probably fuck him up and put him in a box which is fair enough. i would have to say the same for most ppl including myself.
this job is not for the light hearted, you have to be willing to be the centre of strength around a load of intensely fucked up people constantly trying to sabotage or suck up to you which tends to fuck people up.
JP is a natural leader. I’ve learned so much about myself and the world from his contents, and continue to be a life student.

Politics eventually bends over even the best of people. You have to make compromises.
Even if you disagreed with most of his ideas and policies, it would still be damn hard to try arguing he doesn't truly wish the best for his countrymen and is trying his best at what he thought was pragmatically and morally right.
