Thanks for all the helpful videos y’all do: mostly simple exercises, great visual examples, helpful tips on technique, warnings for who should avoid what, and an overall friendly attitude for life. 😁🥳
as a "maturing" rehab nurse, I see myself sometimes in my clients as they walk, leaning forward, rounded shoulders. This video gives great pointers. I used an old broomstick after watching
bob and brad . . . terrific! first ex: 1:45 followed by a few more standing ; floor ex 1 is at 5:50; floor ex 2 is at 6:43; standing ex at 9:25; then 10:31; last one 11:28. of all the posture routines i've done on youtube (and i've done quite a few) this is quite simply THE BEST! it's fun, easy and effective! one question: why are the sticks bright blue? i had it painted black; i think a neutral color is a better choice; this is of course just one woman's opinion
Dollar tree has mop handles. The hardware store has wooden dowels (shorter, at maybe 4 feet, but possibly heavier and/or thicker or thinner for your hand size). Someone else also said they used a shower rod (adjustable).
I feel the positive vibes coming my way! This looks like a complete scenario. Nice.... epilogue: I did all of these exercises and some things popped n stuff and now I FEEL BETTER. THANK YOU.
I bought the stick and I’m starting to do the routine. Three back surgeries and three other major surgeries all in four years. I have three fusions and now diastasis recti. Hoping this will get me moving I have a long way to go.
10 Stars! Thanks guys!!! Very informative, yet hilarious! Especially the last exercise when you were both bobbing up and down holding sticks behind your backs!!! Hahaha!
So glad you said we could make our own Bob. I was feeling guilty making my own at Lowes. I got 1.25" PVC, and it has less flex for my Hugeness, and the regular 1" for my wife.
I got a 4 foot wooden dowel for a bit more weight. (It maybe isn’t quite long enough to fully stretch out my arms, but then I also don’t have to worry about knocking a living room lamp off a table. 😄)
Hi, I really like your videos. They are very helpful. I have a cervical disc bulge at c4-c5. I tried these posture exercises of you and I feel the symptoms much lesser; like 50% lesser. If I continue with these exercises, will my disc bulge be cured somehow?
Thank you for this video. I did the exercises yesterday and today and it took a huge amount of pain out of my back. However, I can't do the posture squats. I can keep my head and my sacrum on the stick but my midback arches off. Can you suggest what I need to do to fix that? Also I am ex-figure skater. I would call the lean forward balance exercise a spiral. However, in a spiral, I would arch my back raising both my leg and head away from the ground. Would that be harmful to do or not?
I've been too a bunch of physical therapist. I've yet to fix my problem. I have scapula pain that hurts on the left side, but the pain sometimes switches to the right side scapula and back and forth. I'm in a lot of pain and none of my P therapists can give me an answer what's wrong with me. I don't think my exercises are working. Any suggestions would be helpful thx
Guys, I don't have a hunchback but there is a outward curve for about 3 disks in the midlower back and then it goes back in. Any ideas or exercise that can help that?
Wow this stick is almost 50 bucks! Uh can you say broomstick or shower curtain rod??? Come on Bob and Brad please start making your products more reasonably priced....
Go to Home Depot get a 1" x 10 ' schedule 40 PVC pipe $6.98 , or get furniture grade two end caps .78 each, cut it to the length you need. If you want to split it get a coupling
A shower rod is about ten dollars and can be used. The shower rod also has the rubber non slip caps on the ends. You won't be able to take it apart to take with you, but it will work at home and if you can't afford the booyah cost of $50.
@@lmeasterwood Yes there are shower rods that twist in the middle and seperate. Likely where the inventors got idea, just made it more sturdy. Magic of the rehash and a nifty new name. ;))
Uphold the Constitution hi. I thought about the ones that twist to adjust the length. I was concerned it might collapse while in use, especially when using it for support in some of the exercises demonstrated by Brad and Bob.
So what had happened was... I was doing bleachers at my school for soccer and my calf started to hurt bad but I just thought that it was sore and tight. I didn't really think anything of it. And the next 3 days it got progressively worse to the point where I couldn't walk. I went to my school's athletic trainers they put me on crutches because they think that I strained my calf but I'm scared that I tore it because I can't move my toes without my calf hurting or my foot at all. All of my calf is tender all the way down to my Achilles and all the way up to the back of my knee. The only part of my lower leg that foes not hurt Is the frount of my shin. Is very tender to the touch I can't even put my leg down on my bed, and it's pretty swollen. I don't know what to do. Please help???
Hey SI R. Do you seem to have any bruising? You'll tend to feel a calf tear when it happens - very specific and sharp. Some people feel like they were kicked, or hit in the calf when it tears. It would be unusual to tear the muscle but never feel a sharp, painful moment. It sounds more likely to be a biomechanical deficit or overuse syndrome (for a variety of possible reasons), but I could never diagnose that without seeing you. If this is on the front of your leg, you'd want to rule out compartment syndrome which is quite dangerous. It's also nice to rule out a stress fracture. Neither of these sound likely. Meanwhile, your standard injury treatment should help: Protection. Rest. Ice. Compression and Elevation. I would explain each of these steps in person, but difficult to get every detail correct in writing (ie. if you use compression, start at the bottom and wrap upwards. make sure you have capillary refill to know you didn't wrap too tight. etc...). A follow up with the training room, Urgent Care or a PT clinic could be useful.
Sounds like a bad sprain. It’s gonna heal. Ibuprofen will reduce inflamation and pain. You can try keeping it warm or cold(experiment to see what makes it feel better). Once it feels better try to move/flex the muscle. It’s healthy to carefully contract the muscle for a few repetitions to promote blood flow. This also makes sure the fibers heal right. Just listen to the pain. You can push through some soreness, but don’t keep flexing the muscle if you feel sharp searing pain. It’s important you do standing calf raises once you can without too much pain. It’s gonna reduce the risk of reinjuring the muscle. Don’t go heavy, just do lots of reps so you feel bloodflow/a pump.
I'll let you guys slide on making a stick and calling it a piece of equipment. I have actual STICKS. This is ecause of that brilliant foot slide invention which I certainly WISH I'D HAD post TOK. Next knee I'll be sure to have it. Also, Bob, you did rally on the prone and last stuff, but your beginning work was very sloppy, uncommitted., while little Brad is there on the sidelines making sure his chest is pushing forward and keeping his chin tucked with pefect athletic form. Jus' sayin'. I am crazy about you guys. I remember being young and not having any idea that people who looked like you (hah-straight) could be so hip. Now I'm some kind of m'aam thing to the youthy world,, and the youngstas are thrown off to see that yeah, I'm cool (and I don't even have pink hair). I know a lot about PT but I know that I can always learn something from you two. Thank you again for cracking me up in your quirky nuanced fashion. Aways good medicine.🏇
You're probably feeling Facet Joint Crepitus. This is usually normal, but you may need to learn some movement strategies to minimize compression of these joints. (ie. in the video, Bob and Brad use a little bit too much 'pigeon' motion and I wish they would tuck their chin down just a little bit instead of straight forward and backward).
Thanks for another great video. I enjoy learning from you guys and your banter really cracks me up.

If you don’t have a lot of room to sei by a stick around, the hardware store has various sizes of 4 foot wooden dowels.

i just woke up and saw this video! gave it a try and i feel my back relieved already, thank you ❤️
Barely finished the third one but this cut my pain levels almost in half. Since I'm broke, all I did was dismantle my mop in substitute of the stick.

Went to Amazon to purchase the Booyah stick. It only had 3 reviews. They all said it breaks where the connecting joint is.

You can do some of that stuff with a broomstick or a bamboo pole I think, till you get the real thing
