@TC Gamer Yeah lets sign a business contract with the state to show how much we love someone. Marriage is an antiquated and really a non sensical decision these days, but feel free to learn the hard way.
Usually I kinda understand Rick has to low-ball to make a buck etc etc but that bike was special, a serious Triumph collector would give his left nut for it, he outright stole it from the old dude.
Selling it on eBay would have been a hassle. It would have to be local pick up, and someone would have to come with a trailer out to wherever this dude lives to get it.
I know it's just a show but it always cracks me up when people think they'll get retail for their stuff at a pawn shop🤣 unless you're desperate, sell it yourself!
-So what's he suppose do? Take it to the grave>? Look, Just sell it for a decent fair price of $8,000. oo And be done with it. You won't even need to negotiate!!
But, he wouldn't have had an agreement to get 20% of the youtube revenues related to this video, which can most likely exceed what he would have earned eventually.
So, the Triumph expert who knows the top Triumph collectors in the world, appraises it for 20-25k noting that a top collector would pay 30k. So...Rick buys it from the poor chump for 15k, sells it to the expert for 25k (pocketing 10k) and then the expert makes a little 5k on the side by selling to a top collector for 30k. I mean...it's all right there in front of you
Probably, the expert put it in his store on consignment, instead of buying it. Or just called a collector and Rick sold it directly to him, paying a commission to the expert. Or the expert took it to auction for Rick. Different ways of doing the same thing. Your figures sound accurate, although it would take a while to find someone to pay too dollar. Probably ended up with a final price of around $25,000.
Yeah, he did. I would have settled on 17,500, not a penny less. Not to going to haggle me down with all those stupid tag lines 'blah blah blah I gotta frame it, time it sits in shop, some auction crap'.
Dude got robbed big time. His expert said it's a 20-25grand bike all day long why offer 14 I'd have slapped Rick and left with the bike and told the wife he tried to get it for free.
I love how everything has to be sold in an auction. You're in Vegas, Rick - you could throw it up on Craigslist and sell it within a week for nearly the price it'd go for in an auction (and you wouldn't have to pay auction fees).
The Triumph quality degraded over time. In the 80's, the company was about done when an U.S millionaire bought the company. He "fixed" the product buy replacing engines, suspension, ect. mostly with Kawasaki parts. The current Triumphs are great, powerful and fast, not to mention beautiful. They recently revived the 70's/80"s Bonneville café racer. I hear it's a beast
Don't go to a pawnshop then... They are a BUSINESS... They are NOT collectors... Rick has to make MONEY... I know that's mind blowing for people like you on here, but that's how pawnshops and all businesses work...
First thing I bought after the divorce was a chest of drawers. Moved it in to the new place. Then went downtown and bought a 1971 Bonneville 650. Nothing like a Triumph, right foot shift, left foot brake. Was fast and sounded great.
seriously, it's rare enough that it would be extremely easy to find an avid collector willing to pay nearly double. This is the sort of vehicle where the buyers come to you when you advertise, not vice versa. Makes it highly doubtful that this sale actually went through and that the guy sold the bike. Why, exactly, would he be selling for reliably at LEAST 10k less than what he could get by spending a few minutes advertising it? illogical to the point of definitely being fiction
It's not real, it's all set up. It's probably in a private collection and they wanted to show it off. That's the only way I can watch this show, you see cool stuff. Everything else is unimportant.
That bike is gorgeous and makes me think of high school back in the late 60s/ early 70s when the really cool kids had street Triumphs in the 500 and 650cc displacement range.
