      Hi @muhammedfaiyaz2460,
      Wearing a wig this long after hair transplant surgery should not affect your results. If you are worried about the results of your transplant, you should follow up with your surgeon who knows details of how your surgery was performed, and can examine your scalp for any issues. I hope this clarifies things for you.

    Dear Doctor, I thank you because your videos and your explanations represent what every doctor shoud do with his patients. The passion for your work is something very honorable. I have two questions: i had a hair transplant 76 days ago and on the forehead some tiny hair are now visible in same zones, but there are also lots of zones on the forehead where i don't see hair. According to your valuable experience, is possible that some hair will start to grow in the next days? And one last question: after how many months after the transplant it becomes impossible that new hair can emerge from the scalp? Thank you, the best Doctor :)

      @AmiyaPrasadMD  6 місяців тому +1

      Hi @profsavino,
      Thank you for watching! The full results of a hair transplant may take about a year to be visible, and grafts that are not growing, or damaged grafts that didn't survive to grow hair should also be apparent by this time. I hope this clarifies things for you.

    Hi Dr. Prasad,
    Thanks for your help. What if some grafts never shed, or grow, even after 5 months? Would it be wise to pluck them out individually to perhaps give way to the underlying root?

    • @AmiyaPrasadMD
      @AmiyaPrasadMD  4 роки тому

      Hi Ali Alam,
      If you had an FUE, grafted hair that is not growing may be just a hair shaft with a damaged or missing follicle, otherwise known as transection where the extraction process damages the root. You should not be plucking out hairs out as this can cause damage. I suggest you have this checked by your hair transplant surgeon as they know the details of your surgery, as well as your scalp. I hope this helps you.

    • @AmiyaPrasadMD
      @AmiyaPrasadMD  5 місяців тому

      Hi @kenthortillosa841,
      Both are normal. The bulb is usually dead skin, or keratin. In the case of hair transplant, if a follicle ever pops out after the first 48-72 hours after hair transplant surgery, then the graft didn't take to the scalp, and would not have grown hair. I hope this clarifies things for you.

      Yes, shedding is normal after a hair transplant, as detailed in the video. Also detailed in the video is shock loss, which is shedding due to trauma to the scalp during surgery. I have a question about post-operative recovery, hair shedding and dieting. I had my transplant surgery about 6 weeks ago and am already in the shedding phase. I understand this is normal and I’m not concerned. However, I was recently diagnosed with Type 2 diabetes and my GP wants me to go on a 12-week very low-calorie diet. I know that some people may develop hair loss called telogen effluvium (TE) during low-calorie diets. Usually, this hair grows back after the diet has ended. I am more concerned about permanently damaging the newly transplanted hair grafts. Is there a significant risk of this if I do a very low-calorie diet? I am taking finasteride and using minoxidil as well.

    • @AmiyaPrasadMD
      @AmiyaPrasadMD  9 місяців тому

      Hi @MarkHoelterhoff,
      While I would not recommend a low calorie diet while you are healing from a hair transplant, you do have another condition that does need immediate management. I suggest you have your transplant surgeon, and your GP coordinate your diet plan as both are more aware of your two conditions than I am. I hope this helps you.

    I experienced hair loss after my 2nd PRP treatment, about 3 months after my second hair transplant. I don't know why, but it looked as if the hair loss occurred where the needle injections were made with the PRP. Small circular areas of hair loss about 7-8 millimeter in diameter. I never experienced this after my first hair transplant with all the 5 PRP treatments that followed. My doctor had never heard that PRP could cause hair loss, so he gathered that it was just a normal "shock loss" that happened to occure right after a that specific PRP treatment. This was in February. The hair still hasn't grown out yet. But I'll have to be patient.

    • @AmiyaPrasadMD
      @AmiyaPrasadMD  3 роки тому +1

      Hi HasseBasseBingBong,
      It is possible to have shock loss that long after surgery. Assuming you're male, you do need finasteride after hair transplant surgery as transplants don't treat progressive hair loss at all. You can refer to this video about it - ua-cam.com/video/rIlI55F478w/v-deo.html

    Hello doctor Prasad, thank you for the great video! I had a hairtransplant done early january this year and ive noticed a huge shedding of hair on my crown even though most of the grafts went into my front scalp. Ive been losing a lot of deadskin at the front which always has 4-5 hairs stuck to it, is this normal?? its been about 2.5 months so i dont know if its the shedding of hairs or my dead skin falling off just taking the hairs with it. What do you think? Is it normal for dead skin to take the hairs with it during this phase?

    Hello Dr.Prasad, do you think Setipiprant will cause hair growth as good or better than Minoxidil/Finasteride in the phase 2 studies? Also, do you think Fevipiprant can be used for hair loss when it is released for COPD (if it is ever released)? It seems there needs to be many more medical options to help prevent androgentic alopecia. Thank you.

    • @AmiyaPrasadMD
      @AmiyaPrasadMD  6 років тому

      Hi OmegAisBETTER,
      It is too early to tell if Setipiprant is an effective treatment. However, both minoxidil and finasteride are limited in stimulating hair growth - hair growth from minoxidil is fine, and finasteride is primarily to slow hair thinning. You should also keep in mind that no treatment prevents androgenetic alopecia as by definition, pattern hair loss is hardwired in your genes, so hair loss treatment is about managing hair loss, not preventing it or curing it. I hope this clarifies things for you.

      Hi Paramanand Balara,
      If the hairs have scabs and crusts, they are likely transplanted hair. You are not losing hair, it's just the hair strands shedding, so they will regrow as long as the grafted follicle is in place in the scalp.

      Hi Ali Shakeri,
      Yes, it's definitely possible to start shedding two weeks after a transplant. Shed hair this far out from surgery will contain roots, as transplanted hair follicles are firmly in place 2-3 days after surgery. Native hair also continues its normal shedding cycle after a hair transplant. There also could be shock loss of native hairs shedding 2 weeks after a transplant due to the trauma of surgery, but these hairs also grow back as long as the surgery did not damage native follicles. I hope this clarifies things for you.

      Hi ashish verma,
      Minoxidil can irritate the scalp skin, and shouldn't be used while still healing from a transplant. Finasteride is more important after a transplant to slow progressive hair thinning of native hair, and grafted hair still prone to thinning if you had an FUE done.

      Not having a heavy hair shed after a hair transplant is within normal range. The important thing is your grafted hairs are growing, and you are doing active management to treat progressive hair thinning after your hair transplant, as hair transplants don't treat progressive hair loss. Hi Richy Rich,
      If you are asking about shedding after a hair transplant, shedding from the viable hair follicles do grow back. Some damaged hair grafts that were still implanted may not grow hair. There is also something called collateral loss where nearby native hair follicles are damaged by the hair implanter, so they can be permanently lost. You can refer to this video about it - ua-cam.com/video/9IUjsrbVh9s/v-deo.html

    Hello Doctor, I just wanted to know if there’s a possibility that I don’t shed at all?
    It’s my 3rd week since my Fue transplant and my transplated hair are growing and there’s little to no shedding so far.
    Will they continue to grow and shed all together at a certain period of time or will it continue to grow like normal hair?
    And also, I’ve been prescribed oral minoxidil and finasteride. (FinMin finasteride 5mg, minoxidyl cap at 2.5mg) pill according to my doctor, it’s a new pill which consists of the two. Is this safe?
    And is this much more effective than topical minoxidyl (5mg) + finasteride pills(5mg)?

    • @AmiyaPrasadMD
      @AmiyaPrasadMD  2 роки тому

      Hi drake j,
      It is still within normal range to have little shedding after a hair transplant, which depends on where you are in your hair growth/shedding cycle, and how your transplant surgery was performed. Some people experience normal hair shedding (50-100 hairs a day) after a hair transplant.
      5mg finasteride is a little much for male pattern hair loss, as that's the prescribed dosage for enlarged prostates, and my male pattern baldness patients I prescribe 1mg a day. I don't prescribe minoxidil at all to my patients because they can stop using it with our injection treatment featured in the video. You can refer to these videos about why treatment is still needed after a hair transplant, and why our patients can stop using minoxidil after TrichoStem Hair Regeneration:

      Hi Sebastián Contarino,
      It's not necessarily too early as normal hair shedding occurs daily. As long as the grafted follicles are in place, and native follicles were not injured during transplant surgery, they will regrow hair. I hope this clarifies things for you.

      Hair being transplanted too close to a native hair follicle can permanently damage the native follicle, causing more hair loss. Since I don't know details about your scalp, or know details about your hair transplant surgery, the best person to ask for more details about your personal case is your transplant surgeon. There was some shedding, but not that much. Everything seemed ok with hair growth, but starting from 5.5 months, I experience some hair fall out from the transplanted area. Can the delayed hair shedding happen after 5-6 months?

    • @AmiyaPrasadMD
      @AmiyaPrasadMD  Рік тому +1

      Hi Samir Hasanov,
      It is possible to have shedding 5-6 months after a transplant, and the hair will grow back. Delayed shedding is actually a good sign since it means the hair grafts have been in place for a considerable time and are growing hair.
      It's important to remember that hair transplant surgery does not treat progressive hair thinning at all, so treatment is still needed after a transplant for thinning hair. You can refer to this video about it - ua-cam.com/video/rIlI55F478w/v-deo.html

    • @AmiyaPrasadMD
      @AmiyaPrasadMD  6 років тому

      Hi Areb Faraz,
      You can look into the Hair Regeneration treatment featured in the video, and perhaps PRP alone. Hair Regeneration is effective shortly after a transplant to help with healing of grafts, increasing graft survival, thickening and growth of native hair, healing of the donor area, and increased blood circulation in the scalp. Our Hair Regeneration patients can stop using minoxidil. Although I don't use PRP alone to treat hair loss, it can help in increasing blood circulation. I hope this clarifies things for you.

    Post 15 days I started slowly rubbing the scalp and saw quite amount of hair falling on pillow there is no pain,no reddish or bleeding occured.
    Now my concern is it's been 3 months I don't see any new hair pooping out of scalp I still see gaps,baldness like before, so is this because I removed scabs in cotton and too much rubbing intial days ? And I lost all grafts?

    • @AmiyaPrasadMD
      @AmiyaPrasadMD  3 роки тому

      Hi Vinod K k,
      Hair grafts are so firmly in place 48-72 hours after a transplant that it would take surgical instrument to remove them, so you can scrub your scalp by now. Hair does shed naturally, and shedding can be part of the transplant known as shock loss, but the hair will grow back as long as the follicle remains. This is different from collateral loss where native hair follicles close to transplanted hair were damaged by the trauma of transplant surgery - this is why hair transplants shouldn't be done too close to native hair. If you have concerns, you should refer to the doctor who performed your surgery as they know your scalp, can examine your scalp, and know the details about your surgery. I hope this helps you.

      Hi ANKIT PALI,
      It is normal to shed 50-100 hairs a day. I don't have the details of your transplant surgery, so I can't really comment about the density and growth. It's important to note that a transplant does not treat progressive hair loss, so you should consider finasteride to slow further thinning and loss of your native hair. If you want to stimulate hair growth and thicken thinning hair, look into the Hair Regeneration treatment featured in the video. I hope this clarifies things for you.

    • @AmiyaPrasadMD
      @AmiyaPrasadMD  4 роки тому +1

      Hi Md.Fahad Jibran,
      I don’t administer PRP alone for hair loss because it has a limited effect on hair, usually just short-term hair growth. Also, the number of sessions needed does vary, and the longevity of results is unpredictable. TrichoStem™ Hair Regeneration is a PRP combination treatment where PRP is the activator of the main ingredient extracellular matrix by ACell. TrichoStem™ Hair Regeneration is a one-time treatment for most patients, and can last up to 5 years and beyond, depending on the aggressiveness of the hair loss pattern. You don't need repeat injections periodically, and many older TrichoStem™Hair Regeneration patients don’t use maintenance drugs like finasteride, but finasteride is a must for our younger male patients with very early and aggressive hair loss due to high DHT-sensitivity asTrichoStem™ Hair Regeneration is not a DHT-blocker. PRP injections for hair loss are needed indefinitely. TrichoStem™ Hair Regeneration patients can stop using minoxidil completely, or be weaned off it to prevent a sudden hair shed.
      We do perform TrichoStem Hair Regeneration at the same time as the transplant to: 1) help the transplanted hair heal better, and get more grafts to survive 2) Thicken native hair around the transplanted hairs 3) Prevent or delay the need for future transplants by thickening thinning of native hair 4) Prevent visible hair plugs in the future when native hair thins around the transplanted hair. It is a unique service for a hair restoration doctor to do everything possible so you don't come back for another transplant. I hope this clarifies things for you.

Empty patches in particular are something that you should ask your surgeon about as I don't have enough information about your surgery to answer that. I hope this helps you.

      @AmiyaPrasadMD  2 роки тому

      Hi k r,
      Hair shedding of transplanted, and native hairs are normal, and they do grow back. 50-100 hairs are normally shed every day. As long as the grafted hair follicles are healthy, they will grow hair again after shedding. Your friend should follow up with his transplant surgeon for concerns as the surgeon knows details of the transplant surgery, and can examine his scalp. I would ask the surgeon about the "baby" hairs if they are transplanted, or native hairs, as thinning hairs should not be used for transplant as they will also be lost due to pattern hair loss. I hope this clarifies things for you.

      Hi Sujay ray,
      Sorry to hear that. If you suffering from hair loss this early, you should be diagnosed for pattern hair loss, and get a prescription for a DHT-blocker like finasteride. You probably have very high DHT-sensitivity. I'm not familiar with doctors in India, but you can at least be diagnosed and get a prescription from a dermatologist. I hope this helps you.

      Hi
      Sujay ray,
      Hair transplants are generally not recommended for someone as young as you because you will lose hair faster than it can be transplanted. Expectations of hair density in people as young as you are also higher, and cannot be achieved by even multiple hair transplants. I advise you do not get a hair transplant, but consider stabilizing your hair thinning, either with finasteride to slow it down, and Hair Regeneration to stop and reverse hair thinning so your hair becomes thicker, and stimulate growth of dormant hair follicles.
      I don’t administer PRP alone for hair loss because it has a limited effect on hair, usually just short-term hair growth. Also, the number of sessions needed does vary, and the longevity of results is unpredictable. Hair Regeneration is a PRP combination treatment where PRP is the activator of the main ingredient extracellular matrix by ACell. Hair Regeneration is a one-time treatment for most patients, and can last up to 5 years and beyond, depending on the aggressiveness of the hair loss pattern. You don't need repeat injections periodically, and many older Hair Regeneration patients don’t need maintenance drugs like finasteride, but finasteride can concurrently help younger male patients with very early and aggressive hair loss. PRP injections for hair loss are needed indefinitely.

      Hi PHOENIX INVINCIBLE.
      Hair shedding is normal, and hair transplants can cause additional hair shedding from shock loss due to the trauma of transplant. Hair shedding can also increase due to stress, or as a temporary condition if you just started finasteride. Hi elias moreno,
      All healthy hair will eventually shed, and then grow back. Pattern hair loss is when shed hair grows back thinner, there is a delay in regrowth, and hair growth cycles become limited. Transplanted hair taken from the permanent zone are genetically resistant to hair thinning, but FUEs often take hairs from outside this zone, so those hairs can still be prone to thinning. I hope this clarifies things for you.

Since it is a non-surgical treatment with little to no recovery time, and in many cases no additional treatment, you don't need an extended stay in the US. Many patients actually get back on the plane home the same day as treatment, but I don't recommend this for everyone as it is dependent on general health condition and age.

    • @AmiyaPrasadMD
      @AmiyaPrasadMD  3 роки тому

      Hi Luqman Hikmah,
      That is a lot of grafts, so graft survival is an important factor as your scalp blood supply can only support so many grafts for healing and growth. Without knowing the details of your transplant, other causes of lack of growth like damage to native hair is unclear. Minoxidil won't thicken your hair, or stop hair loss, but it appears to delay the hair shedding cycle, and extends the hair growth cycle so you appear to have more hair on your head. At what age did you have your transplant? This is important as men in their 20s have aggressive pattern hair loss, and it is impossible for men in their 20s with pattern hair loss to match the scalp coverage of their peers without hair loss by having hair transplant surgery. Finasteride is more important after hair transplant as it does slow progressive hair thinning. You can refer to these videos about why treatment is still needed after a hair transplant, how transplant results can be improved, and possible loss of native hair due to transplant surgery:

      Hi Danny JF,
      I generally don't recommend dermarollers as the rolling action unnecessarily stretches the microholes, and dermarolling can only lead to short-term, fine hair growth, and the hairs don't grow thick or long. If you have concerns about your transplant surgery healing, I suggest you follow up with your transplant surgeon who knows details of your scalp, surgery, and healing progress. I hope this helps you.

I hope this clarifies things for you.
