How do we feel about co-working spaces? Or office set-up in general?
In this video I'm giving you a sneak peak into my thought process when planning a layout of a co-working space. These offices have been popping up like mushrooms after heavy rain (awkwardly translated latvian proverb, but you get the meaning) so I thought it would be great to kick off the space planning series with a detailed walkthrough of one.
As always appreciate your thoughts so fire them away in the comment section below!
Have you worked in a co-working office before? What's your most and least favourite thing about them?
I love the free coffee and lounge areas. Oh, and the dog friendly ones definitely hit the spot!

I am an architecture student and this really guided me on how to utilize spaces. Thank you!
Ahh, that's amazing! Hope you're studies are going well! Thanks for stopping by :)
this is so helpful! im majoring in interior rn and currently studying office space! tried to look for videos like this before making my floorplan:)
Oh cool, hope you've got some inspo out of this! Good luck with your studies😊 I'm.making a new one about office design but it will probably be another month until it comes out 👍
Oh actually, maybe my concept design video could be useful as well. I talk about a recent office project I worked on there 👍 might be able to find some nuggets there!
You make it look easy! The only question I would have about the overall design is whether this client wants one group to be silo'd away from another group. It looks great, but in my department, they did that and it has made it difficult to feel as connected - they are on one side and we are on the other. Its interesting how that one seemingly small decision has made that kind of impact.
I know it's tricky, you can only do so much. You'll never be able to please everyone with just design alone. I find it that a lot of time businesses need to bring in their management to ensure that staff are listened to and are able to communicate with other teams. When I was working for a company, we had a very similar issue and even we couldn't figure out how to resolve it with interior design alone.
But this is a great point, thanks for stopping by to comment :)
Hi i realy loved this, i am an office sales person and i love working on projects, still finding my feet but i think i can learn alot from you.
Oh that's fab! Hope you'll find more of the content useful :)
Loved the intro for this video! :)
Haha, very dramatic hand movements 👌 Thanks Sandy!
Great video as always, very informative! How do you know the spacing in between tables and official guidelines for it, what sources do you use?ewa
Hi Ewa 😊 Most of my design skills come from practical experience. Just learning from my senior colleagues, making mistakes etc. It's also really helpful to just get out a tape measure and measure up in real life. Next time you're out and about start to notice the placement of the furniture etc. I do this all the time, always learning 👍
Guidelines are great to know but in real life you might get a client who wants to maximise the space as much as possible and then you need to work with what you can 'get away with'. A good book to refer to is the Metric Handbook, although I have to admit, I've only picked it a few times so far in my career.
Hope this helps!! Good luck 😊
Thank you for your advice! I am never confident how to approach and this makes it clear 👍😍ewa
Thanks, Amazing!
what about the washrooms? they should have also been placed anywhere
In this case the toilets where placed in a different part of the building 👍
Great channel
Thank you!! 🙌 Glad you've enjoyed the content
Nice
this is amazing! Subbing 😍
Naaw, thanks so much! There's plenty more videos like this coming up so hope you'll enjoy those as well 🤗👍
Nice work. What program do you use?
AutoCAD 👍
Mam iam civil draftsman your concept idea space plan very useful for me
Glad it's been helpful 👍👍
Are you using Revit or AutoCAD ?
Hi! I'm an Autocad girl. I've managed to get through without needing Revit so far.
Hey can you make one using sketchup ?
Hiya! 🙂 Do you mean for space planning but use SketchUp instead of CAD?
@@SpaceForEdit Hey sis, yes I meant that.
@@Onalenna_Thobega good shout! I'll add it on the list ;) Any specific type of space you're interested in?
You are awesome
So are you! 🙌 Thanks for watching!
Hey can you give me some ideas on designing a furniture which allows workers to sleep in office, I am thinking like a modular chair or something like that. I am designing animation office for my college project. Animators usually work late and would be cool if they could comfortably sleep in the office after working long hours.
Any references or ideas is be appreciated, thanks..
Hiya! Have you heard of sleeping pods? There are actually a few companies and even universities who have taken this concept on board and its proven successful (in pre-covid world though). Have a little google on it, hope it helps! ;) Good luck with your project!
hi mem, your video very helpful and your Smiley face very lucky.
✌️
Right now as a student I’m drafting floor plans by hand, and mood boards on Word or PPT. Tedious to be sure by hand. I’d rather be able to move faster with software like you just did. Any tips for me anyone?
I'd say it's worth investing in learning how to use AutoCAD and Sketchup as these are the main softwares that we use in the industry. It's the best way to communicate with the trades as well ;)
@@SpaceForEdit Thank you! I’m going to take your course towards the end of next week! I can’t wait!
You are the most beautiful girl I ever saw. I was just watching randome videos on YT.
Can you stop the music?
It's annoying
You are welcome to not watch the video. It's free and will not be annoying 🤗✌️
