Great content better than gold. I am a Tasmanian living on the mainland for 30 years and always dreamt of walking through the walls of Jerusalem but now I am too old and unfit so thank you for letting me see such beauty. You have inspired me to encourage my kids to venture on such a journey You films Rob are truly fabulous😊
Ahhh Rob, you just visited my most favourite place in Tasmania, lost count how many times I've been in there now. There are some hidden Gems in there. Good to see the old Meston hut, built by Dick Reed still putting on a glorious show. You presented it very nicely too. And great comments regarding the up keep our our precious huts 🛖 We always say if you can carry it in you can carry it back out ! Love the falls too, great footage. You would have read a few of my posts in the log book ha ha ! Might just play that game of noughts n crosses next time in in there, happy trails mate, Late.
Do more winter episodes please! So pretty. You should be so proud of the quality of filming now .. and in the past, but now more ! I appreciate the beauty of our awesome country and promoting “Tasmania”! It’s so untouched and should stay that way in the future. Such an awesome Aussie .❤
It's been about 15 years since I last hiked Tasmania in the snow, I forgot how breathtaking it is. Yearning to get back there after watching this. Thanks for the beautiful footage.
That moment you came upon the hut, iced with snow and not a footprint or human blemish around, aah! Using your excellent skills in videoing the beauty of Tassie in winter. Thanks for taking us there Rob!
Great photography as usual and in awesome conditions . I have many fond memories of walking these same areas through the 1980s while living in Sheffield. Lake Meston Hut via Lake Adelaide or via Lake Myrtle and Lake Bill. Myrtle was very burnt out during the 80s and had lost its reported beauty. My last walk in 1989 was a sort of farewell before we set off on a trip around Australia and new adventures. I went up past Chapters Lake to Junction Lake ( the reverse of your walk). There was a group of local farmers from Mole Ck who were in the hut at Junction ( I presume it is gone because you didn’t film it). They were great company and shared both stories and evening nips of whiskey. My memory is that they said the Meston Hut was built by local cattlemen. Also lots of camping trips to Blue Peaks or Lake Ball as fishing was a major objective. Anyway I prattle on. On Mr Youd I think he is trying to relive an era which has long past in this area. Im not sure country NSW boys can be described as “city wankers” also I like my shiny new jacket and it is superior to the oiled japara we wore with heavy leather boots lathered with dubbin. I spent several months in 1979 in Lorrina having ridden a pusbike from Sydney though the Snowy Mts in winter in the company of my kelpie Hagar. At the time there was no electricity in the valley and one telephone. The ‘hippies’ had found Lorinna and lived generally happily alongside the locals. Many traditional skills were in use , curing meats, snaring wallaby, shingle splitting etc. One old local lived high up the valley with his similarly elderly sister(Sadly I forget their names). As a young man he was a trapper and took pack horses (up the Forth Valley I believe) into Pelion for periods of 6 weeks. He was an icon in Lorinna at the time. Anyway I prattle more. Thanks for reviving my memories and for the great trips to places out of reach to me.
Thanks Rob for taking us on a beautiful adventure in the snow. Your doing a fantastic job promoting the wild nature in Tasmania and hopefully you will start getting a bigger international audience soon. 🌏
Dude, you make the seclusion out there look really fun and it's very inspiring... I can't wait until my kid/kids are old enough to go on a safe adventure with me when I go back to Tas.. Also I applaud your etiquette when visiting these spots! Top notch as always
Brilliant as always Rob! God's country, spent a lot of time in the Meston and Junction lake in the 80's and 90's. Great fishing lakes. I gather the Junction hut no longer exists? Hopefully one day I can hike back in there but I'm no spring chicken anymore .....but your trips are the next best thing for me, keep up the outstanding work my friend 👍
Gob smacking gorgeous WOW beautiful footage wicked glad we found your channel you got awesome videos and production 👊 Have a great weekend cheers 🍺🍺🍺KC Tasmania Australia 🇦🇺🇦🇺🤝🇦🇺🇦🇺😎👍
Ha, I spent a few nights in Meston Hut. Was one of my favourite places to visit in the 90s and 00s. Never met any ghosts with a ballpoint though. Meston and Junction Lake cabins were built by Dick Reed. Nice bush joinery in both. Thanks for the video. I’m not so old I’ve ruled out visiting these spots again. Hopefully I won’t have to do it posthumously, like Arthur!
Absolutely loved the camera / video work in this episode. I know you have a background in videography , but this one just seemed to Pop with the snow clips . 👍👍. Awesome work , can’t wait for next video
Stunning scenery Rob, loving all your content and expeditions after just stumbling onto them recently. I have just moved to Tassie December 2023 and have only just started exploring this wonderful wilderness. Feeling inspired after seeing your channel. Enjoy
Great footage and video Rob. There is something majestic and unique about Australian foliage under good coverage of snow. The hut looked amazing and the log book entries of Arthur L would suggest he is what ... living off the land ?
This a a great vid mate, your filming was awesome in this. The Cabin looks awesome, love seeing the stories of other visitors, interesting adventures, you intel on the history is always a good touch🤟🤟
I really enjoy your adventure.... the atmosphere is very beautiful with the snow thinning, it must be very cold there. Warm greetings from Indonesia 🙏🏻😁
Love it! Just came back to Melbourne from my first ever trip to WOJ camping at Wild Dog/Dixons Kingdom in the snow last week - was actually at Dixon’s on the 24th when you were at Meston Hut. Certainly stunning countryside. That waterfall was epic!
i was excited to run into this video again and view it again. Beautiful capture of the snowy winter in Tasmania. I appreciate your highlight of the code for staying in a cabin. Respect for your fellow adventurers..
Great video, I think your knots and crosses game might be over a bit quicker this time I already made the next move. We noticed your entry when we came down from Chinaman's plains and were wondering if you were making a video about meston
Thanks for another great trip, reminds me of my winter walks in the Catskills and Adirondaks in the US. Looking forward to returning to Tassie early in 23. It's beem ten years, way too long between drinks.
Keep up the outstanding vlogs Robbie. I truely look forward to each one. Just a side note, im currently in geelong getting more damn cancer cut out, and in the unit my wife is staying in, is a shiny coffee table book titled 'huts of the high country'. It listed at least 100 huts across NSW,VIC & Tassie. Had the gps etc and a page or so write up /history etc. Well worth a look. Once again lad, well done and keep up the good work.👍
Absolutely breathtaking! Love seeing our Tassie bush transformed into a winter wonderland. Once again, thanks for braving the elements and taking us with you on your adventures. Only negative was seeing the rubbish left behind in the hut. As you said, it's not hard to pick up your mess. It's good you remind people in your videos to do the right thing and leave the place clean and ready for the next travellers 😊👍
Amazing vid Rob what a cool hut I've visited some in the Victorian High Country and the Snowies in NSW they are an important part of our heritage and can be an inviting refuge in bad weather and some are situated in some stunning places keep up the good vids mate.
The very first video of yours I saw Rob, was the one you made back about 2-3 years ago. Where you were trudging through the snow just like in this vid. The Winter snow in this area of the Walls of Jerusalem National Park seems to provide that added magic to it. Oh yes so do the Pencil pines. Personally, I love the Winter here in Tasmania, and I can't wait to get back up that way again Rob, You've given me that inspiration to go out there and do some camping myself.....Pete from Devonport.... 🤠🍎

Glad to see the ghost of Arthur Youd still frequents the area.
Yeah, the writing was a bit different each time.
Thanks!
Was he related to World Champion Axeman Doug Youd by any chance?
Thanks for the generous donation Rod!
Awesome as usual ..the falls are amazing!
Agree with Joanne. Your videos have always been top notch, but lately you've taken it up a rung. Keep them coming mate.
