Claudia Hernandez I always notice mine when I’m at the hair salon because I can see the back of my head with their double mirrors. I’m always horrified at how crazy it looks. I have a feeling my cowlick is probably getting worse because I started sleeping on my back a few years ago. Going to try this trick for sure!

I have not been able to wear my hair parted like I used to because of this problem. I only part it an inch in the front and keep checking the back of my hair with a hand mirror throughout the day. I have to use hair gel after washing and Paul Mitchell Freeze and Shine hair spray in the back of my hair plus a really fat curling iron. I will definitely try this method. Also problematic is thinning at the temples if I wear my hair back. I didn't realize so many of us have this problem. I used to have so much more hair. I also have been increasing my biotin supplement dose hoping that helps as well.

It's a whirl. Where your hair grows in a Swirl. Some people call it a cowlick. It is a real pain in the butt. I saw a video of a guy taking the ladies hair like you did, but he did a little back comb, sprayed it let it dry and then used a flat iron or curling iron on the teased hair. I tried it and it really helped to keep my hair from splitting. I am a lot older and have fought this my whole life. My husband says I have a bald spot! It's not a damn bald spot lol. Some of us are just born with strange hair growth in the back of our heads. Thanks for the video!

I’ve been wearing a messy bun for YEARS because of this problem. I don’t even like to wash my hair anymore. (Dry shampoo and shower cap showers) because having to brush/comb it when it’s wet trying to find that perfect, magical “fix” is just too depressing. I will literally not go out or just put my hair back up in a messy bun. I have hair loss and hair damage now at my crown because of always wearing it up so it makes it even worse.
Seeing this gives me hope. I’m gonna go wash my hair and try it out. Thank you from the bottom of my heart. Even if it doesn’t work out for me (I’m hair styling challenged) - just knowing I’m not the only one helps.

I’ve been doing some reading up on this and I’m pretty sure it is called a double crown. The hair grows in two different patterns and causes the gaps. I discovered mine about a year ago and I have been so self conscious of it ever since. I’m constantly touching where the split is to make sure it’s covered. I never wear it down anymore but even when I tie it up it still splits!! I think it looks even worse when it splits tied up so now I’m out of options.
I thought it was something new that had started happening but I’ve since figured out that I always had it, just my hair was a lot thicker up until now so I never noticed. It is so thin these days it gets me down and I don’t know how to fix it.

I honestly thought that I was balding, too. I was pretty horrified. My hair is very thick from the neck down and it reaches to the back of my knees, but I didn't notice until a few months back that on the back of my head I have this cowlick or double crown that you mentioned. I ignored it, but decided not to anymore because I'm feeling self conscious. What I found is that you can "train" your hair growth pattern. The gist is that after drenching that area of your hair (ideally at night after showering), brush it/part it in the direction that you want it to be, clip it down and let it air-dry. After at least a week or two of doing this, your hair should get accustomed to growing in that new direction. I'm actually going to try this starting tomorrow night and I will document my results. Hopefully it will work.

    You are a godsend!
My husband just recently mentioned how my hairline always does the “squiggly crooked line” all the way to the back of my head. Since I never really look at the back of my head I had never noticed it, but dear lord it so noticeable! Looks exactly like yours, and since I part my har to the side it looks even worst! I’ve been going crazy trying to figure out how to fix it, and googling it I found your video.
    Thank you!!!!!

When I was younger I did not have this..I'm at 40 and for years now my hair has changed and my 3a-c curls are coming out straight and flat at the roots🙈😔😛😂It makes me sad to the point of melancholy in the past!! What I do is I tease my hair (back comb) all around that back area and use the schwarzkopf got2b glued hairspray only on the roots💖😍💖 This works for me!!
Side note : I've been doing this for years and notice that in winter when its humid as hell were I live I need a cowash every four days because it gets sticky and matted fast..in summer I can go a week or so between washes, plus I'm diving in the ocean everyday so that clears out products also !! Take Care All 💕✨🌹🌈🌺💙💖💎💜🥂💄💚🌸⚡💫

I commented my technique, but want to add, if you have this AND also notice alot of hair fall in the shower or while brushing/combing, I'd recommend seeing your Primary Care Physician to have your thyroid levels checked and/ or a dermatologist, because there can be a genetic type of hair loss in women in this area of the head. I have both issues.

I have that too. My husband lovingly calls it my "bald spot." I hate that term because it's not a bald stop, just an annoying "part" that is built into my hair. Ugh. I'm thinking about using a clip-in hair extension to cover it, but that would probably be visible and would look even worse. Double ugh. Any method used flies out the window once there's a little wind outside. 😊

I'm 43 and it just started happening to me. I would use a ton of mini bobby pins to hold it in place but then the split would separate the hair on the right side of my head. Most people think I'm in my early 30s but the bald spot started to make me feel so bad I'd have panic attacks getting ready to go out. I know it sound superficial but I take care of myself (diet and exercise) and my hair made me feel inadequate. I also have very long hair that's actually thick and really curly except that one part. I can't wait to try this.

Ugh I have this too! My hair just wants to be draped from that center point in all directions of my head haha. I have straight long hair that falls down smoothly, except for this annoying piece of hair on top of the cowlick that wants to go in the opposite direction and just stands up like a weirdo all day 😂😅. I have been backcombing it multiple times a day to keep it stuck to the rest, but I definitely need to buy some hairspray cause it won’t last long.

  • @waj9876
    @waj9876 4 роки тому +3

26 year old male with fine long hair here. I've got this kind of thing though it isn't as noticeable until I sleep on it. I can see it before I shower in the morning, but even with clean and dried hair it's still noticeable if I shine bright light on it. Worried it might be a sign of balding, but it might not be. Everyone I've asked says it's just my part and it's normal, that I've just got fine hair and that's making the scalp under my parting more noticeable, and I've got the feeling it might have become more visible since I went a few years letting my hair get really really oily and sleeping on it a day or two before washing it multiple times a week. So it's possible I've just damaged my hair somehow and I need to take better care of it.
Really hoping it's not a sign of balding, not sure what my chances are since the men on my mom's side of the family didn't go bald, but the men on my dad's side all went bald except for my dad which is interesting.
I could be wrong and I could be starting to show signs of balding, which is why when the whole social distancing thing is over and I can go out again I'm booking an appointment with a dermatologist to look into this. If it is something like that I'm going to do my best to stop it and make it look as good as possible if I can't.

waj9876 Hey please don’t despair. I very much doubt your3 going bald. I’m You tubing this problem because I’ve suddenly discovered it during lockdown. I’ve not had my hair cut for 16 weeks. Usually a 4 to 5 wk person. I’m female. I’ve got thick, layered (because it’s so thick) wavy hair and it’s usually a job to see my scalp. But I’ve just noticed a parting on the crown at the back of my head and I’m so paranoid about it. I feel like it’s an old lady bald spot because I’m also letting my hair go grey. But I know I’m not going bald and it’s just my hair parting on my crown, probably showing up because my hair has got longer and I need to find a way to deal with it. Don’t go wasting money on a dermatologist. See your hairdresser first and mention it.

I have 3 of those on the back of my head (technical term is hair whorls, swirls or crowns). My grandma would call them remolinos (I probably spelled it wrong so don't judge me) and I usually fix it by spraying water on my hair and using a hair dryer to manipulate the pattern as I dry it again and that normally fixes it for me. Then I use hairspray to hold it in place.
