Having fished multiple s in different sizes and colors, ua-cam.com/users/postUgkxCbNOWAGmn6nfbCbJDmasvBq7J38KZNw2 this is by far my favorite. One thing to be aware of is the sided willow blade. One side is silver and the other is the green/orange shown. This is not bad, just unconventional. In terms of fishing, I have found the lure works just fine without a tail like a craw or shad. That addition is up to you. Also, the hook part where you attach the swivel snap or tie the line is a problem on baits these days, since it's able to slide up and down. However this lure seems to be tight enough that that doesn't happen often, and you can solve it by putting a thin slice of medical tube over the hook before attaching the line. Like others have said, it's really magic on a good windy day.
It was extremely cool of you to post a failure video. It’s nice to see the creative process in all its facets. Perhaps you’ll tackle this again in the future and try to make it work.. even though it doesn’t feel like that now.
So cool. Yours was actually the first UA-cam channel I ever subscribed to. I really admire what you do. If you ever need a vacation, take a trip down here to south Florida, and do some kayaking, fishing, and beaching with us.
I really enjoy your videos I would make the head flatter on the top (that's where the vibration come from on a lipless...the flat part acts like a lip) and move the line tie eye more towards the middle of the bait.
I was attracted to your channel because I wanted to learn the proper ways to retrieve different types of baits. Please don't speed through all your retrieves. you are the perfect person to learn from.
Nate, idk if you'll read this but if you do, dude! You have to put some blades/propellers in the front of back and turn that into a spy bait. That was the craziest shimmy action I've seen. Even the Duo's aren't that crazy! I hope you don't give up on it.
The walleye run is just about over here in Toledo. We typically catch sucker's and walleye together, also snagging them in the back is common because they are laying on the bottom trying to spawn.
I think the blade needs to be thinner towards the back! Not a bait maker but just my input :D love to see you try something like this again! Can't give up on the first one! Maybe have the hook coming off the blade for more action.
Been following on n off for bout year n must say on this lure your artistic skills are off the chain I would to have some mirror dine twitch in that pattern ,,peace
Slit the brass about midway point from the bottom. Bend the front one way and the rear the other way. Doesn't have to be a lot. But that may help it catch more water and get the brass to wobble more. Just a guess on my part. That could just make it worse too.
Put two tiny willow blades on the screw eyes in place of the brass plate, and install a lip. I think this bait is primed for major success with minor alterations. Please!
There's something about watching someone else work.... Just makes me feel productive, while I'm filling out paperwork here in "my office" on the pot 😂.
Can you make a goldfish in memory of Beefcake? That was ours goldfishes name. Buddy was just a little jit about 2 inches long when we got it. At about 8 inches after 3 years, it was the first animal my daughter buried. Shes watches you with me once in a while. If you did that, I really appreciate it. I know its weird but its would be awesome. Love live Beefcake!
Thinner blade, ground-out with the bottom end rounded wide. (Flanged) whatever. For a water catch. Then, i run all my blade baits, with the eye toward the middle of the back for maximum vibration💨js
There’s one million other excuses for zero fish and the one that doesn’t come to mind is that wicked bait you made in a day. Shoot the juice and crush it!! Nice
the brass belly bait wasn't a bad concept. It especially had a good fall, it just needs the right situation. Every lure doesn't have to have a huge amount of action. There are tons of Japanese finesse baits that do literally nothing in the water and they all catch fish. (the Deps Wakasagi is one that comes to mind) I notices you were just hucking and winding it like a rattle trap, id try twitching it and letting it fall more like you would a wacky rigged senko. (the twitches outa be far more aggressive though)
What kind of wood do you prefer to use most? I mean if you could pick one wood that is at the top of your list? Like go to, buy in bulk, life changing kind of wood? 😂😂😂😂😂 Does Chelsea ever get jealous of you love and passion for tupelo wood? 😜😂😂😂
Yes... a reaction 3 weeks later! I think if you kept te brass thinner it would haved worked better. This one was way to thick to give it the shimmer aktion. I think you should give it a second last try...👍😁
I was surprised he didn't taper the metal into a proper blade like shape vs just being a giant slab of metal. Seems like actual blade lures taper or make the metal thinner in general, I'm not too surprised it didn't have a lot of shimmy.
Huge fan of the epic and marlin collaboration molds, we have a few of them and definitely want more. The whipwad is super effective in the rivers. I'll have to give the mf motor oil and white pearl a try. Always too afraid cause motor oil bleeds.
What if instead of using brass you used a piece of plexiglass in the same shape? Not as heavy as brass, seems like such a good lure idea I really want it to work lol
HEY I KNOW EXACTLY WHAT THAT ACTION RESEMBLES! Look up Lucky Crafts Wander its a stick bait but it's action is in the fall like this lure if you check out videos of how you retrieve and work this type of lure it's actually a pretty unique action
I do like the videos but one thing I don't like is. That when it comes to the test tank you can't see from one end to the other. Like to see it when you drop the bate for the test.
I spy something green. Spring has sprung in the Marling neighborhood! It appears the fish have tied on the feed bag and are hungry for some custom plastics. No lure attempt is a total failure if it spawns new ideas or eliminates bad ones. Somehow I see a new personal best in your future this year.
I bet I could troll that bait in the Gulf and smash plenty of Bluefish, Spanish, and King Mackerel, and Bonito and possibly get some Mahi (Chicken Dolphin) to bite it.
Such a sweet lure build. Coincidentally i suggested a Marling jerk bait last video, so i kinda feel a little responsible for this...... definitely am not responsible at all. But in a chance that i am, i would like to suggest another. Marling bladed jig or chatterbait with swivel body and some custom poured trailers. All wouod be complimented by a stunning hand tied skirt by Chelsea???? Blessing to you and family, keep up the amazing content.......
I’m in the toilet in a restaurant and am not planning to stay here 40 min but I would just to watch this vid lol😂
Ong😂👌🏼
You still there
@@masonboyd9611 no luckily not
Lmfao 🤣
Why are you in the toilet
I'm in the same restaurant, turn ya volume down

As a long time bait maker myself, you never fail to impress and inspire me with your unique creations.
Amazing. Your workshop is a dream.

I hope you make a peacock bass lure someday, also that looks really nice from the thumbnail, can't wait to see the action!
Peacock b(r)ass bait perhaps 🤔
Thank you for showing me a good video. Wishing you a very nice new day!
This is absolutely amazing. You make better baits than even the best bait making companies in the world.
Glad to see you had a good fishing day! It’s been a while!
Brass belly chubbychub looks like it should be a titan of the depths. Good looking isn't always enough !
love the music choice for this vid it really matches the content
Man I absolutely love your lures !! The craftsmanship is impeccable
That’s a very nice looking bait. I would love to see you make more like it, but experiment with different shaped blades.
Better yet! Please make a top water bait that wobbles and plops when you reel it in.
So cool. Yours was actually the first UA-cam channel I ever subscribed to. I really admire what you do. If you ever need a vacation, take a trip down here to south Florida, and do some kayaking, fishing, and beaching with us.
Posted right in time for my morning coffee! I like the music choice
The epic pray bait laminate was so 🔥 love this video 🤜🏾💥🤛🏼
I really enjoy your videos I would make the head flatter on the top (that's where the vibration come from on a lipless...the flat part acts like a lip) and move the line tie eye more towards the middle of the bait.
Move the line tie toward the center of the bait. Would be an awesome jigging spoon type bait.
I was attracted to your channel because I wanted to learn the proper ways to retrieve different types of baits. Please don't speed through all your retrieves. you are the perfect person to learn from.
you are definitely an artist. Keep creating!
Little dimples In the brass would look kool and give a lot of action
id love to see you do another one day build on the spot this summer.
terimakasih telah berbagi ilmunya yang sangat bermanfaat... luarbiasa 👍👍👍🙏
That is absolutely gorgeous. I know I could do something like that but I don't think it would look that nice
Nate, idk if you'll read this but if you do, dude! You have to put some blades/propellers in the front of back and turn that into a spy bait. That was the craziest shimmy action I've seen. Even the Duo's aren't that crazy! I hope you don't give up on it.
Dude great looking bait. Maybe texture the brass with a golf ball like texture to make it swim better? Paint job looked perfect.
Don’t bail on that idea man! It’s original. Thinner metal, maybe even put a curve in it…
After all the hunting and diving content i consume yet another way to waste my time.
Great work!
Greetings from germany!
Regardless of the results....the bait is beautiful!
The walleye run is just about over here in Toledo. We typically catch sucker's and walleye together, also snagging them in the back is common because they are laying on the bottom trying to spawn.
We’ll.. it looks cool!
you should make this style of lure but as a vertical jigging lure. That shimy during the fall looks amazing.
Smokin' bonus fishing bro
When you get a run like you got at the end there it makes it all worth while.
I think you should do another one. But with a willow leaf blade. Or then up the brass
I think the blade needs to be thinner towards the back! Not a bait maker but just my input :D love to see you try something like this again! Can't give up on the first one! Maybe have the hook coming off the blade for more action.
the best channel on yt no doubt
Still waiting on a ‘wandering chip’ top water bait. 😊
Cheers!
I wonder if maybe taking that brass plate and attaching it to a front and back prop so it spins and creates flash would do anything.
He has the best job in the world not only does he make amazing baits but he also gets to use fishing as a excuse for work and his wife cant get mad
Best background music yet.
The intro music is groovy 10/10
Great video 👍👍
Got to the test tank part and got the vibe that Sir Snagsalot is going to strike and another lost bait hope that I am wrong!
Another great video !
Been following on n off for bout year n must say on this lure your artistic skills are off the chain I would to have some mirror dine twitch in that pattern ,,peace
Love your content!!!!
I would buy these so fast its like a hybrid between a blade bait and a crank bait.
Slit the brass about midway point from the bottom. Bend the front one way and the rear the other way. Doesn't have to be a lot. But that may help it catch more water and get the brass to wobble more.
Just a guess on my part. That could just make it worse too.
Hey I love watching u make wacky and different baits would u do a squirrel
Looks like you have that walleye a lobotomy, the way it acted after you set it free
I woke up and my dad was watching this vid before me even though I was the one who subscribed and I told him to wait for me to watch the new vids😂
You should do something like that but as a rattle trap!!
Have an idea make it a jointed glide baits with a spiral metal in the belly so when it moves it flashes and makes noise
Here in the BIG SKY I've seen a lot of carp thrown 'way back' when they're caught. Seeing one released is strange but fair.

Maybe you should attach the line to the brasspiece, so the the body might wiggle a bit!
Nice
Could you make some more Bobbers some Unique Designs Maybe a chip bobber or fishing boat bobber

I would have polished that brass to glass mirror finish and clear coated and obviously left a little more clearances
Nicest thing ever
I think that bait would be good for ice fishing 🎣
What kind of wood do you prefer to use most? I mean if you could pick one wood that is at the top of your list? Like go to, buy in bulk, life changing kind of wood? 😂😂😂😂😂 Does Chelsea ever get jealous of you love and passion for tupelo wood? 😜😂😂😂

I’d fish the hell out of that lure for largies and giant lake trout.
What a cool idea for a bait. Tough to make by hand I'm sure. Stuff like this makes me want to pick up woodworking as a hobby. Nice job bud.
You should make some plastic baits that look like that and try them out
Love some motor oil anything.
What kinda rod are you using?
Try a thinner stainless version of this. Maybe with a lip
Golf ball dimples in one side of the brass. Im just curious what it would do.
Day 76 of asking Marling Baits to make an ultralight trout spinner! 🎣
Huge fan of the epic and marlin collaboration molds, we have a few of them and definitely want more. The whipwad is super effective in the rivers. I'll have to give the mf motor oil and white pearl a try. Always too afraid cause motor oil bleeds.
What if you decorated the brass like engraved. Or make it with a thick aluminumm
You should make a wall of shame for the very few lures you make that dont work or you dont like
Make a cones shaped joint on a segmented swimbait
It might be the area of transition from wood to the brass blade. Maybe make the transition more beveled down to thickness of the blade.
maybe a spinning plate will have a more interesting action, kind of like a spinnerbait maybe , but the metal thing is in the belly 😅
What if you made a similar design but had some kind of lip on the brass blade to give it action?
Hey can you make a sculpin softbait ? Could be real good for trout, smallmouth...
Remember, Blow on your brass, folks!
the cursed bait!!!
What if instead of using brass you used a piece of plexiglass in the same shape? Not as heavy as brass, seems like such a good lure idea I really want it to work lol
HEY I KNOW EXACTLY WHAT THAT ACTION RESEMBLES!

Just thought if you could “dish out” the brass and holes to create more turbulence flippy swimmy 🤷♂️
“Steel will eventually wear into the brass”. Like the river isn’t immediately going to become the sole owner and proprietor of this bait.
Hey man love the videos, I make lures along with you and I cant seem to get a good action with my crankbaits, any advice.
Need a 12 inch version for some decent size fish
I spy something green. Spring has sprung in the Marling neighborhood! It appears the fish have tied on the feed bag and are hungry for some custom plastics. No lure attempt is a total failure if it spawns new ideas or eliminates bad ones. Somehow I see a new personal best in your future this year.
maybe a lip on the wooden section would give a more erratic action ?
It's official!
What if you used magnets to control the action on a swim bait, ya know how they push away from each other. I'm in deep early morning thought here.
Суппер🎉
I bet I could troll that bait in the Gulf and smash plenty of Bluefish, Spanish, and King Mackerel, and Bonito and possibly get some Mahi (Chicken Dolphin) to bite it.
Such a sweet lure build. Coincidentally i suggested a Marling jerk bait last video, so i kinda feel a little responsible for this...... definitely am not responsible at all. The brass plate too thick? Awesome looking bait though
