One could say, Jeremiah was GRITTY 💪🏼
These guys were beyond mere men. Simon Kenton, ran every gauntlet of the Ohio tribes, and escaped with getting a hole punctured in his head, Daniel Boone captured by the Cherokee and Shawnee, lived through hell, Lewis Wetzel, Hugh, Liver Eating, they were something I will never be able to understand. I am mixed blood federally recognized Shawnee and Scotts Irish from Southeastern Kentucky and grew up hearing stories of the Eastern longhunters, how they could reload flintlock rifles on a full run, Simon Kentons escape from a Shawnee and Cherokee ambush, he ran and hid naked in sleeting snow storm. How do you survive that.
Hell yeah!!!! Couldn't smash that thumbs up fast enough. Can you skin a grizz?
I recon I can skin most anything!! 😂🤣
Just as fast as you can catch em.
My all time favorite movie, would love to see a modern version of it. I'm also glad that you guys are actually telling the history Through this book as so many people only know of Johnson through the movie. Keep doing what you do enjoy all your videos.
I also heard that Johnson in his later life said he never ate any human liver unless you call deer liver human, he also said he got along great with the crow nation & had often stayed with them,
Enjoyed Hearing about My All Time Favorite Hero Jeremiah Johnson. Now Hearing about His Life is Amazing keep Up The Podcast You have a Fan and Subsciber.
LOVED THE MOVIE. If its on i'll watch it even today and I'm 52. Seen it countless times. Stay Gritty. Russ
Guy’s I really enjoyed listening and watching this podcast about Jeremiah Johnson! I was born in 1969, so yes I seen the Movie Jeremiah Johnson with Robert Redford and it’s one of my favorite movies of all time! You both did and awesome job telling this story. These mountain men were very tough but it was a very tough time and they had to be tougher than tough to survive! Thanks
Love the book reviews! Keep them coming!
John Johnston and John Jeremiah Garrison (Jeremiah Johnson) are two different people living at two different times in history
Loved the last read. Looking forward to this one.
Hi Brian,
I truly enjoyed your reading of the first part of Crow Killer. At one point you mentioned Johnson met Colter. You were trying to think of Colter's first name which would be John. Colter was one of the first white men to explore the thermals of what is now Yellowstone. He drew pictures and submitted to Congress the wonders of Yellowstone known then as Colter's Hell. It wasn't until years later when the government sent an expedition to explorer Yellowstone.
This will be epic. Have a great hunt.
Looking forward to another great piece of history and the insite that ensues from such stories! Thanks for doing another piece
Every time I watch one of your videos I swear I learn something new from bear hunting to tahr hunting to whats been my favorite story for years always something thanks brian

I love to listen to your podcast and I have for five years now it’s a must have download before I go on a hunt or weekend shed hunting trip or just hunting deer and elk with my bow you guys are awesome thank you
I watched Jeremiah Johnson when I was a young boy and I loved the movie. I am not sure Robert Redford is as big and the book is portraying but the movie was till good. When I first saw the tittle of the pod cast I had no idea it was about Jeremiah Johnson. I am hooked now. I hope all is going well on the hunts! Can’t wait to see the footage. Good Luck, God Bless!
Love the book reads!
Crow killer is my favorite book in elk camp!! I was jazzed when reading the thumbnail! Gritty podcast on Jeremiah Johnson I love it

Listening to the story of Jeremiah and making arrows.
2 days and a wake up, drive 1300 miles, hunt elk. It's hard to even focus on work in these last days🤷♂️
'Love it, Thanks! Because of this, I ordered the book!
Different times is right. wow
Read the books in the early 70’s and saw the Jeremiah Johnson movie in 1972 before I went into the Marine’s. Still have a copy of the movie on my phone I’ll watch sometimes backpacking the Wind River Range which I still try to do once a year.
Thank you for your service Paul.
Eating the dead’s heart or liver was believed to take their spirit
Alot of those mountain men, were civil war vets with what I think was severe PTSD. We don't think about that when we talk about these guys. They sought to be alone and to continue having that adrenaline boost that you get in combat. You never feel more alive as when someone is actively trying to kill you
the spirit continues to fight relentlessly for the men💪🙂
Thanx
Great story, love it!
If you're into mountain man books, my sixty years on the plains is the best book I've ever read by far
One of the greatest stories out there! This is definitely Robert Redford's best movie, even better than Butch Cassidy and Sundance Kid.
My all-time favorite movie
would have been interesting to read a book written by a native about that guy
gettin that feeling that eating those livers is making gritty a little gitty. 😋
Great story and commentary, more please
I enjoyed the read about Roosevelt, hoping this one is as good.
Is lampert the Modern day Jeremiah Johnson, Who Would his sidekick be, like batman &Robin ,Lone Ranger &Tonto .
Lampert and his little buddy the Spaniard .
I'm just breaking balls guys ,Great Story, Were all Jeremiah Johnson's to a Certain degree ,even the little Spaniard
You know Brian, you and Ryan are 2 of my favorites in the world of Hunting and filming! But I got tell u keep a eye on Phelps him Ryan click!! By the way, Ryan looks a lot like a young Tom Selleck? Dont tell him that....oh hell he knows that anyway!😂 hands down you boys the best!!
MOSBY 🌠😇🗝️
I keep listening to these. I even bought the book because of you guys. As for heroic folklore. We can find many men in our time that meet the level of heroic folklore. Chris Kyle, Mike Tyson, George Foreman. Bruce Lee,,,,
He is buried outside Cody Wyoming.
Buried in California outside of Los Angeles
Correct and then in 1974 he was moved to Cody, WY
Are you going to go to that cave that man lived with a mountain lion in that cave what are you looking for your own 50 caliber Hawkins
Flash freezing does exist out in those little mountains there don't forget fort musselshell
The Judith basin the Judith Gap
👍
By Sorrows River. ....?
I sure enjoyed this book reading and commentary…thank you, great content as always!!!
#staygritty
5:08 "Thier anals belong to what may be called folklore history."
I'm pretty sure you meant to say "annals." Pronounce..anlz
Entirely different meaning!
This ain't no broke back mountain show boys! 😉✌
His name was Joseph and his last name was was assumed... Do some research
Can’t use the term partner anymore. So let’s thank our new woke society for that 😐
I thought I was going to watch the show I didn't know it's just going to be bla bla bla bla bla bla bla bla bla bla bla bla bla bla bla
Don't you want to be mountain men or you just going to blah blah
Melancholy it's a disease mountain men get for being all alone too long
Try it it's good for
👍
