  • This MIDI Hocket template is super useful for creating a palette of UI sounds that is both unique and coherent each time you play a MIDI note. This is a well-known technique, but by adding extra randomization for each patch, you really push the amount of asset generation possible to the next level.
    The two videos shown at the beginning are from Doom Eternal and Animal Crossing: New Horizons. The samples were not originally intended for those games, but I think having a video to showcase them is more interesting than just using a DAW. It also demonstrates how well they could fit into a video game environment.
    As always, thanks for watching and if you have any questions about it, just let me know in the comment!

    I tried something like this in college, but damn this is way more advanced! I bet distorting and automating some time effects on the sci-fi ones would sound killer!

    Nice video man, honestly I wasn't expecting this to sound so good, very clean

      Thanks! Yeah sometimes you start a new project and everything sounds so meh, but if you commit to the initial idea and start to add more things and process stuff in a specific direction, things start to make more and more sense. At least in my experience ahah

      What really helped me when I was starting out (I'm still a big noob, nowhere near a good synthesis level) was to load cool presets that I liked, see how they were made and dissect them. How each Env/LFO/Osc/FX is affecting the final outcome and understand how to reuse them to achieve that specific result you have in mind is the biggest game changer (to me at least). Hope it helps a bit!

      @@christiandervishithank you :] definitely agree, totally the way when learning synthesis. wish more synths included fx presets like phaseplant! also is there any processing you find yourself coming back to? I've had some luck with granular and spectral stuff in the past but I'm sure there are more esoteric things for ui design.

      @@ytensor2196 I really really love spectral stuff, but I now tend to use it only at the beginning of the chain so that it's gonna be super processed after and you won't really hear the spectral artifacts. I almost stopped using granular stuff except for argotlunar to shape a bit the audio (I used it in my Mattia Cellotto Breakdown video) or Phase Plant granular synth but again, just like spectral stuff, it's at the beginning of the chain and since it's followed by many others FX you won't hear the classic granular sounds

    and then here i am, having fl studio. 😢

      Same. I ended up buying the $99 Ableton just for sound design and the features FL is lacking in. If you have the expendable funds for it, I greatly suggest it. But I know $99 can be quite a chunk.

    Not sure how to install MIDI Triggered Parameter Randomizer JSFX...

    • @christiandervishi
      @christiandervishi  Місяць тому

      On the link provided in the description there is the code. If you go for adding an FX, right click on the JS, Create new JS FX..., then click the Edit... button and you paste the code you found on the Forum there. It should work!

      @@christiandervishi Thanks for the reply; i did that and pasted the code in my JS effect, I end up with different parameters than yours (i get a bunch of sliders saying "random value C8" to F8 and a trigger note on/off while you just have a number of midi output. Should i be editing the code? when i play my "melody", no sound gets to my instruments with that JS plugin active. Again, thanks for your time, super appreciated.
