    Hi from the UK. I belong to a gun range and have my firearms licence and shotgun licence. Our club only hires out rifles and shotguns but you can shoot pistols. Their range of weapons is a bit limited but you can hire rifles like a 223, a 22, a 17hmr, a 303, a 308 and a few more. Cost of hiring a gun, shotgun or rifle, for members is about £3.50 ?? $4 ish. You can use the rifle as long as you stay. Hired weapons require you to shoot club ammo purchased there.
    It is limited compared to many of the American experiences but for a country who many believe you can't own a gun, we do OK. In some ways I'm pleased I don't live in America mainly because I would be perpetually broke from buying guns and ammunition. 😅😅

    Where I live the indoor range is $16 and you can be there as long as you want up to closing. No green tip allowed plus you have to wear double hearing protection(ear plugs and earmuffs). At the outdoor range it's $10 and you can be there as long as you want up to closing. No restrictions on ammo.

    • @mcy2phil
      @mcy2phil 11 днів тому

      @@MeetRob You're right about that. Indoor ranges have the comfort factor. It's expensive for electricity to run the air conditioning and the air cleaners. Plus the target retrieval system and the building of the range to make them safe. It's really a bargain price when you think about it. The outdoor range you don't have air conditioner and you have to walk down range to put up your target. If you do a lot of shooting walking back and forth can give you a workout. In Texas where I live we just got a lot of rain and you can't go until it dries out and the mosquitos are real bad right now. I have to wear a sweatshirt when I mow the lawn and the temperature is low 90's now.

    I pay $15 to shoot all day in a pistol lane up to 25 yards, a rifle range that's 50 yards and another that's 100 yards. There is another range I go to, membership and background check only that's $1,200 a year but you have your own private 50x50 yard bay with steel targets, IPSCs and you can draw from a holster and do actual movements.

    • @2amichaelj
      @2amichaelj 23 дні тому

      @@imgriizzly4179 you get your own private bay. Depending on the bay that's available, there are members who leave their steel targets. You're allowed to stay as long as you want, you just have to sign up for the time. You can shoot at night. You can run, draw from a holster, wear gun belts and plate carriers. You're alone and can do whatever you want. They also have separate 100, 200, 300, 500, and 800 yard targets to shoot.
      It's pretty nice compared to static, bench or standing only ranges that yell at you for rapid fire and don't allow you to actually draw from a IWB or OWB holster. Drawing your weapon is particularly important that most people don't have the experience doing with live fire practice. Most people never have the ability to shoot and run drills at night, practicing utilizing your flashlight or night vision. 99% of the ranges are ok for zeroing your weapon but they instill such bad habits into people. Imagine shooting at nothing but a range that makes you stand in one place only holding your pistol or rifle very specific ways only and requires you to shoot one round per second. That's literally training you to be ineffective. There aren't a whole lot of places that allow open drills and movement. Once you start training that way, it's hard to go back to anything else.

    • @2amichaelj
      @2amichaelj 23 дні тому

      @@imgriizzly4179 it's definitely not for everyone and $100 a month (or $1,000 if you pay for it up front) is a lot, especially if you factor in ammo, which you'll burn through quickly. If you have a friend with some land and can find a spot with a berm I highly recommend shooting this way. Just be safe and don't be a dumbass.

    $100 man, add another $100 and buy a gun. Also as beginners first time shooter a full size gun would be a better idea. No need to buy ear protection, rent them or get the free ones that every range gives. Same with ammo, target ammo is around 13-15. You should be able to rent a lane, pistol and ammo for 45-50 bucks

  • @needsmoreboosters4264

    My range charges $18 for a lane and $10 for up to two guests on that lane for those with the cheap annual subscription (or pay like $300 for zero lane charges for the year). $10 to rent a single firearm and $25 to be able to use any of the rentable firearms and switch between them. You have to use ammo from their store, though, which means prices are a lot higher than bulk ammo (think $18 for 50 rounds of 9).

    If you don't come to the range with your own gun, many gun ranges with gun rentals WON'T let you rent a gun. Why? Suicides that's why. There's plenty of videos from gun ranges where the gun renter ends their life at a shooting range. Some ranges let you rent a gun only with two people there. I haven't heard about suicide pacts, but I'm sure even that has happened, but not as common as the solo sucide at the gun rental range.

But are there states where I not allowed to rent guns and buy ammo for use on the range as an alien without any kind of US stay permit except from a tourist Visa?
    Because sometimes I saw on a web page, "aliens or tourists welcome" and sometimes (tourists Visa or non US residence not allowed"

    you said you get one hour on the range -- but you have 50 bullets -- what happens if you're really slow and don't shoot all of them ? do you get a refund for the ones you didn't shoot ? do you have to give them back ? are you allowed to keep them and walk out with them ?

    My local does $25 for a lane for an hour, $10 for rental, BUT you can switch them out with no additional fee, $2 for eye and ear, and I think targets start at $1.25. I went to another place in my state and I dont remember how much it was for the lane, but I went with a friend and we each picked a gun. It was $15 each. I asked if we could trade out, and they said yes, but its another $15 per trade. Oh, and to hold up your targets, if you dont bring your own tape, they charge you a $1 for a strip of tape. I don't know what eyes and ears were, but all I know is that for two people for an hour and two boxes of 50 9mm, it was almost $200!
