I wish I had written you post luwakw01; it was exactly what I was thinking at the end of that interview. Trevor can be laugh out loud funny, then wow you with his ability to get his guest to reveal such a meaningful and touching message to the audience. At the same time, I found Daniel's disclosure to be so honest and revealing that I appreciate his acting talent even more.

I saw an interview with Chairman Fred's son. Who wasn't even born when Chairman Fred was assassinated. He refers to his own father as Chairman Fred. He speaks of his dad with such a deep reverence.

We need a movie about Huey P. Newton and Bobby Seale; the creators of the party. I read revolutionary suicide by Huey two years ago; and when I finished that book all I could do was cry. That book was too powerful man. I’m deeply inspired by Black people that want to liberate the people.
When people look at actors like they don't work...then he tells us how he prepared for this role (speeches, dialect, cadence research, etc.). Priceless!

The never hear anyone talk about the summer free brown paper bag lunches we were he started as well. There are many things not known of his greatness and kindness. I remember the Black Panthers armed and on our corners. Crossing children across the streets, asking were we hungry and handing out lunch sacks, watching dirty cops as they lined black teens and men up against the buildings, making sure that didn’t do anything illegal to harm them. Once the killed Chairman Fred Hampton, those dirty cops lost their minds.

They protected the elderly, they visited the Girl Scouts and Boy Scouts in black communities. They taught us black pride and not to be ashamed of ourselves or the communities we came from. They encourage us to believe we could be anything we wanted to be, despite all the obstacles we will face. I grew up with a real reality of this world. I’m thankful for everything they did and tried to do. Unfortunately, for our people the enemies always destroy whatever we try to build in our own communities. They will do anything to destroy us mentally, spiritually and physically! We must raise stronger kids. I hope others share these r experiences all around the United State about their good experiences with the Black Panthers!

I was surprised when I found out that Daniel Kaluuya was British. His American accent in Get Out and the trailer for Judas and the Black Messiah was perfect. And the fact that he could make himself sound so totally different as Fred Hampton? That's pretty impressive. Most actors don't change their voices that much unless they're specifically voice actors. (I'm a singer, I probably focus on this stuff more than most.)
If interviews could awards, this would be a candidate. I wanted this conversation to be two hours long. I just seen Daniel interviewed by Jimmy Kimmel for Queen and Slim and the difference could not have been more glaring. Two Black men speaking with knowledge, love and empathy about another great Black man who accomplished unimaginable things by the age of 21. More of this please.
I am old and was a young adult back then. I was not in Chicago at the time but I read all I could about the murder. It is good that Hampton is coming back into view. Look up Black Panther artist Emory Douglas. He put into drawings the image of police as pigs. Unfortunately, not much has changed. For general history, one should read Frantz Fanon's "Wretched of the Earth".
What a space to be livingv in with the evolution of data and the access to it. We get to learn about our Black icons and cultural superheroes that we weren't taught in traditional schooling. I semi understand how Tupac was such a revolutionary in his own right as a child of a Panther just by hearing Chairman Fred speak at such a young age. The 60s was such a gift and a curse for black progress.
The fact that Daniel Kaluuya went ahead and hired an Opera singer to train his voice...I already loved his work on Get Out. Now I will be adding him to my list of actors whose entire body of work interests me.

Tell that to his countrymen. Judge not a man by his sentiments, but by his actions. Had you walked miles in his shoes, been programmed by the self-same social conditioning, you most likely would have had the same perspective. But for a man to liberate an entire country by non-violent tactics does speak volumes. I think what means is that both men were engaged in the struggle to free and liberate their people, in spite of their individual-personal short-comings. No man is without their foibles.

I saw the trailer and I was like "Yep this is Oscar Worthy performance" Glad someone else agrees. This is why he's one of my favorite actors

I was surprised when I found out that Daniel Kaluuya was British. His American accent in Get Out and the trailer for Judas and the Black Messiah was perfect. And the fact that he could make himself sound so totally different as Fred Hampton? That's pretty impressive. Most actors don't change their voices that much unless they're specifically voice actors. (I'm a singer, I probably focus on this stuff more than most.)
If interviews could awards, this would be a candidate. I wanted this conversation to be two hours long. I just seen Daniel interviewed by Jimmy Kimmel for Queen and Slim and the difference could not have been more glaring. Two Black men speaking with knowledge, love and empathy about another great Black man who accomplished unimaginable things by the age of 21. More of this please.

I am old and was a young adult back then. I was not in Chicago at the time but I read all I could about the murder. It is good that Hampton is coming back into view. Look up Black Panther artist Emory Douglas. He put into drawings the image of police as pigs. Unfortunately, not much has changed. For general history, one should read Frantz Fanon's "Wretched of the Earth".
What a space to be livingv in with the evolution of data and the access to it. We get to learn about our Black icons and cultural superheroes that we weren't taught in traditional schooling. I semi understand how Tupac was such a revolutionary in his own right as a child of a Panther just by hearing Chairman Fred speak at such a young age. The 60s was such a gift and a curse for black progress.

The fact that Daniel Kaluuya went ahead and hired an Opera singer to train his voice...I already loved his work on Get Out. Now I will be adding him to my list of actors whose entire body of work interests me.

Tell that to his countrymen. Judge not a man by his sentiments, but by his actions. Had you walked miles in his shoes, been programmed by the self-same social conditioning, you most likely would have had the same perspective. But for a man to liberate an entire country by non-violent tactics does speak volumes. I think what means is that both men were engaged in the struggle to free and liberate their people, in spite of their individual-personal short-comings. No man is without their foibles.
I'm disappointed to know that only recently ive been seeing more of Daniel outside of his roles but BOYYY this interview WAS IT! I'm so in awe of how casually intelligent he speaks. 😍 These two are remarkable.
