Love the breakfast club, but a lot went over their heads🤦🏻♂️. This brother is so intelligent and deep. Also loved how he had Lakeith's back the way he did, cause Lakeith is dope af. Cant wait to see the movie and more of all these young non superficial actors 💜
Fantastic interview, Daniel is articulates himself clearly thought, intelligently and with so much charisma. A deeply reflective brother, and also humorous. Loved this and cannot wait to see the film 💜
I've been a fan of his work but listening to him in this interview especially the reply to "Q: How do you feel about critics who think this role should go to an African American? A: I'm going to listen!!" Much respect to you sir Daniel. "The movement cannot be destroyed!!"
@CHEATSKATE GAMING i agree - love Daniel and most of what he says but that was a very weak answer which didn’t directly address the concerns of Americans
But what is he exactly supposed to say. If they don't cast African Americans it's not his fault. It's good that he's saying that he is listening, some actors want even give a damn. Plus how many african Americans played Africans in their roles why didn't Hollywood use real native african actors for the roles.
Man, they are never prepared for these kind of interviews. But when he said "the movement cannot be destroyed" is when it was clear how much Daniel understands the core issues, the power of the BPP, and the mindset of Fred Hampton. These were Fred's exact thoughts: "You can kill a revolutionary but you can never kill the revolution".
His take on apathy is something people are going to miss. I felt bad for O’Neil character because he was so so disconnected and that’s what’s happening to a lot of people today
Cthagod tried to cause friction with the Keith statement, but Daniel shut that shit down quick.....we cant want unification amongst the black diaspora but keep dropping seeds of division
I noticed that too. I'm glad Daniel didn't fall for Charlamagne's bullshit. He still can't let go of what Lakieth said about the Breakfast Club and other media outlets in regards to how they show black people in a negative light.
Name me the Black British versions or version of Fred Hampton. If one exist put millions of dollars to produce the motion picture and have a Black American play him; then we can talk "unity."
Dope Interview, I wanted a Black American to play the role of Chairman Fred, however after watching the movie and listening to this Brother speak, I am a new fan!
_Judas_ is a must watch. The fact that his informant still was able to remain in the Panthers and made beaucoup after that is mind blowing. Daniel's becoming one of my favorite new actors. He killed the role and had the mannerisms and accent down to a T. And he looked nothing like him.
Daniel Kaluuya is building a legendary acting resume. His performance in Judas and the Black Messiah is incredible. He's currently in that period Leo DiCaprio was in when he did Catch Me If You Can, Gangs of New York, The Aviator and The Departed. Give him all the awards.
Yes, he low key built one of the strongest IMDb of his generation. I can’t think of one actor under 40 that has that many awards worthy performances back to back.
I don’t even watch The Breakfast Club anymore due to Charlemagne’s inappropriate ignorance sometimes cloaked in humor and fake caring for the community but it’s all just to move himself forward. But a Daniel Kaluuya interview is always worth the time. Daniel Kaluuya is such a brilliant talent.
Daniel is so intelligent and you can tell he's so introspective. Although this platform was great for publicity and the hosts did a great job, his answers were so far beyond their questions.
This interview is embarrassing for the Breakfast Club. It's okay to admit you weren't educated on the life and legacy of Fred Hampton, but at least try your best to prepare for the person you're about to interview. When discussing a movie about real-life events, there is no such thing as a spoiler. In fact, you should encourage people to read on the Black Panthers and Fred Hampton before watching a hollywood movie. Also, constantly referring to Hampton as a "character" was cringey. I wish they discussed more about the fact that Hampton was a proud socialist and how that contributed to him being a powerful leader. None of these so-called Black leaders today who sell their soul for a dollar should be referred to in the same sentence as Chairman Fred Hampton. He was assassinated by the state at 21. He's different.
And the fact that yee and dj envy are college graduates asked the most simplistic questions 🙄 and CTG who always states about empowering other black people really showed his true colors even more. They hardly had any imput.
Yes!! Agreed. I can’t stand these breakfast club phonies. I only clicked because I wanted to hear what Daniel had to say, but I cringed so hard at the spoilers and character talk. Like come on, it’s history. It’s real life. Do some baseline, do some research. Why do these idiots get to interview some really intelligent people? We should take their jobs
I just finished watching Judas and the Black Messiah, and I just wanna say we need to stop nitpicking what race plays what kind of black person. Daniel Kaluuya acted his ass off. The most important thing is that the story was told and told masterfully. I believe in the best person getting the job, not just hiring somebody for diversity sake.
@CHEATSKATE GAMING well after watching this, there’s nobody else I can see or would want to see play the role. And c’mon, Jamie Foxx played Django, Chadwick played T’challa, hell Eddie Murphy played prince Akeem. It’s entertainment at the end of the day. There’s more serious battles to be fought.
@@ItsYaBoi34 Terrence Howard and Jennifer Hudson played both Nelson and Winnie Mandela also. It doesn’t matter though as long as they’re black and can act.
This movie was so amazing. Both Lakeith and Daniel showed the complexities of these people during the movement. Afterwards I read about Fred Hampton and the power and changes he made in his life. Crazy to think he died at 21. Powerful
Charlemagne gave an irresponsible outlook on LaKeith Stanfield's portrayal of "Judas." His response was just what Stanfield was fearful of - that people would think he actually was a Judas. "He played that character too well," was Charlemagne's remark, as though the character of Judas was embedded in Stanfield. Stanfield is a consummate actor that really delved into the character and consequently had to have therapy to come away from thoughts of being stigmatized. Exactly what Charlemagne did - type-casted him. IJS
No one Cares that You are Ugandan, Especially if You're living in the United States Benefitting off the Work that Ancestoral Black Americans Put In.🤷🏾♂️
@CHEATSKATE GAMING I mean Forest Whitaker won an Oscar playing I’d Amin in the last king of Scotland I did not see Ugandans having a issue with that as a matter of fact they were praising him
13:48 Daniel on Judas: "I think he's apathetic, I think he's indifferent. And I think what we see in this film is the danger of not caring, the danger of apathy. How like, and the danger of self-preservation. You think you're preserving yourself, taking care of yourself, taking care of yourself, taking care of yourself, and it led to him destroying himself."
@Josh Cooper This is definitely apparent in the interrogation scene of the film. That FBI agent asked Bill O'neal how he felt when MLK and Malcolm X died, he was absolutely apathetic, which is dangerous. It showed that he had nothing to lose and everything to gain. But in the end, the guilt of betrayal haunted him.
This reminded me of Hamilton's line to Aaron Burr..."if you stand for nothing Burr what will you fall for? " And Burr's apathy in a way destroyed him as well. Both Burr and O'Neal betrayed their friends and ultimately destroying someone else leads to self-destruction.
@@oreade5457 Great parallel! Hadn't even thought of that but it's a fantastic, tragic comparison. So interesting how both Burr & Judas became historic slurs in a way that I'm sure William O'Neil will soon be in the years to come. This is why it is so important to know, understand and learn from history; it repeats itself so often.
21:42 This is where Charlemagne tried it. And dead the whole “I never had an issue with him...”. We all know that you guys don’t have beef in so far as “if I see you in the street it’s on site”. But clearly you pre-wrote that joke in an attempt to throw shade at someone who, let you tell it, you don’t really feel a way about/isn’t a factor, or of importance, in your day to day life. And the way that Daniel nullified the comment, used the opportunity to both defend Lakeith as well as offer perspective, and respectfully declined to engage you in your pettiness toward his colleague, exposed what could at best be a joke that didn’t land and, among possible “at worst” scenarios, be a strange need to take a jab at something that has long been left in the past; or someone who has seemingly moved beyond any previous interaction that perhaps you haven’t. And throwing on at the end of your statement, “he did an incredible job” doesn’t come across as genuine because of the shade thrown.
Growing up on the Westside Chi and at times living in Maywood I’m proud to see the truth of Chairman Fred being told to the masses. For us here the legend has always been known..Great interview.
My dad almost joined the Black Panthers back in the 60's when he moved out to Oakland CA from Griffin GA, he passed a few years ago, and now this movie came out.. brought back some of the memories of the stories he told about that time, and now look where we at, everything comeback full circle...
The Black Panther Movement was definitely bigger than police brutality. We need to stop putting emphasis on police brutality when it comes to the Black Panthers
Police are just the footsoldiers of Capitalism, and Capitalism is the essence of White Supremacy. Their brutality can only be solved through revolutionary means, by overthrowing Capitalism and replacing it with Socialism.
For sure. But this film was specifically to emphasize one tiny aspect of what transpired during those times that plays a key role in what’s happening today.

This proves Lakeith's point further. I'm glad Daniel didn't take the bait to tear down his own people like Charlemagne attempted to do.
I’m a little ignorant. What did Lakeith say ?
Love the breakfast club, but a lot went over their heads🤦🏻♂️. This brother is so intelligent and deep. Also loved how he had Lakeith's back the way he did, cause Lakeith is dope af. Cant wait to see the movie and more of all these young non superficial actors 💜
The Breakfast Club’s ignorance is problematic
I really like this brother because of his empathy and thoughtfulness
“How can you empower people that don’t like you” -Right!! EXACTLY 🖤
@CHEATSKATE GAMING huh?
When it comes to movie roles? Daniel Kaluuya don’t miss!
Shout out to Bro Daniel Kaluuya on an outstanding enlightening interview. He rose above the few rabble questions.

He hates black brits he's been disrespectful to all on tbc
True, but Lakeith isn't a black British he's American.
Name me the Black British versions or version of Fred Hampton. If one exist put millions of dollars to produce the motion picture and have a Black American play him; then we can talk "unity."

_Judas_ is a must watch. The fact that his informant still was able to remain in the Panthers and made beaucoup after that is mind blowing. Daniel's becoming one of my favorite new actors. He killed the role and had the mannerisms and accent down to a T. And he looked nothing like him.
He did kill that role, that movie was good from the beginning to the end
Daniel Kaluuya is building a legendary acting resume. His performance in Judas and the Black Messiah is incredible. He's currently in that period Leo DiCaprio was in when he did Catch Me If You Can, Gangs of New York, The Aviator and The Departed. Give him all the awards.
All of em.
Yes, he low key built one of the strongest IMDb of his generation. I can’t think of one actor under 40 that has that many awards worthy performances back to back.

Daniel is so intelligent and you can tell he's so introspective. Although this platform was great for publicity and the hosts did a great job, his answers were so far beyond their questions.
Love how Daniel stood up for Lakeith at the end there.
Completely agree the breakfast club is embarrassing they haven't got a clue how to do a proper interview

IJS

@@Miss_Dani_DWhit well said, we all must stand for something
This reminded me of Hamilton's line to Aaron Burr..."if you stand for nothing Burr what will you fall for? "
And Burr's apathy in a way destroyed him as well.
It's so refreshing that, I'm reading nothing but positive comments.
"The MOVEMENT cannot be destroyed. " True Dat!
This is by far one of my favorite Breakfast Club interviews. Daniel spoke so articulately and eloquently and empathetically.
Thank you!
Thanks much
We needs to listen and learn from this brother your perception is everything

Growing up on the Westside Chi and at times living in Maywood I’m proud to see the truth of Chairman Fred being told to the masses. For us here the legend has always been known..Great interview.
Facts I’m from the Austin neighborhood and we have been told about Fred Hampton and black panther party of Illinois since we was shorties.
Daniel is a beautiful, brilliant, articulate Blackman ✊🏾 I'm watching the movie tonight! Can't wait 🖤 #keepshiningking
