I'm a sucker for granulating watercolors 🥰. Jacksons Art Supplies had a sale on the granulating Schmincke paints a few months ago, and I bought all the granulating sets. I love the way you swatch. I'm going to change my way of doing it because your way is much more interesting. Are you swatching straight from the tube? What watercolor journal are you using? I look forward to your swatching videos.

Hello Ilene! I missed the sale from Jackson's!!! I have purchased a lot of my colors from Jackson's (particularly some of the ones that are hard to find in the states!) I have a ton of different journals, but this one is the one I have been using most. This is Baohong Watercolor Journal, which I love, love, love! The size I use is 6 x 9. Cold Pressed. Thank you so much for letting me know you like my swatching videos. It was something I really needed to hear today, since I changed the normal format. ♥♥♥ Hugs!

Yes, I swatch from the tube, or lets just say I place some of the paint in my ceramic palette and from there I swatch. I much prefer the liquid for of watercolors over pans. I also think that you save a lot of money with the tubes because you can refill a half pan over 4 times with one tube. And the price difference is minimal. ♥

@@sundayberries Thanks for the info! I only buy the tubes. I put the paint into half pans and let them dry, and then swatch them from the pans. I don't get as rich a color for the mass tone as you do. I think I may need to swatch from the tubes in order to get a good mass tone.

@@ilenegoldman6344 Hi Ilene, you can get a good mass tone from pans if you do not use too much water and you let the water sit for a minute or two on the pan. I personally do not like pans, but you can get the mass tone from it by letting the drop of water sit and you will notice that the water will start to dry and at that point the pan color gets.... mushy? Just roll the brush over it and you will see you will get a good charge of pigment on it. At least that is how I work it out from pan colors. In fact, I will be swatching a new brand (for me lol) and it is available only on pans, so I will make it a point to show how I do it. I personally prefer the tubes because you get quite a lot more pigment for the money and, you can always set it to dry in a pan, as you do, but when you ran out, there is always more on that tube haha! Also, for mixing, uff, so prefer the tube over the pan, I feel like I can't get enough pigment and feel that it takes much longer than the tube pigments. ♥ Hope I explained it well, but on the next swatch I will show it. I promise! ♥
