- The Glock 19! One of the most notorious guns on the planet. It is generally heralded as the perfect size handgun for covering home defense, concealed carry and open carry. In the video I go over the Glock 19 Gen 3 model, but any of the Glock 19 generations will work very well. The Gen 3 models can be had inexpensively on the secondary market and is a great way to pick up a very reliable handgun.

Are the older Gen Glocks worth picking up at a lower cost?
Most definitely
O yessir!! I was stuck on gen4 until i picked up a gen3..... !!
If you do make sure it’s not an orange label gun because those are refurbished or rebuilt guns and sold as new at a discount.
Gen 3 is the best in my opinion the gen 4 is the worst the gen 5 the redisign alot and it's mechanicly better imo but gen 3 to me is the last real glock
@Ilir Cami A Glock dealer/pawn shop.. Also found a gen3 rtf2 on armslist for 500. But the Gen4 is nice as well. I had a couple different Gen5's loved the finish but dont like the beveled muzzle. I like the classic boxxy glock look.
Inherited my dad’s Gen 3 G17.. a great gun. He was a 30yr retired MGYSGT (USMC) and that was the gun he kept in his nightstand until he passed at the good age of 87. Boy, do I miss him. The G17, eats anything, and points like a good bird dog. I’ve done a few minor mods: lighter trigger spring, smooth slide release, and Trijicon sights. It now is in my nightstand and will be there until one of my 3 sons gets it.
EDC carry my stock Glock 19 Gen 3 for 18 years with thousands of rounds thru it without any hickups. It's been a reliable beast straight out of the box with minimal maintenance. Instead of buying a bunch of "upgrades", I recommend spending time at the range to practice. I would rather spend $300 on ammo than on aftermarket upgrades that often render your Glock UNRELIABLE!
100% ✅
Had my Gen 3 Glock 19 for many years…
Always reliable, never failed me…
My personal favorite of all Gen models.
Was my 1st gun loved it!! Unfortunately it was stolen from me years ago.
Why is it your favorite Gen?
Just ordered my very first gun ever and it was a Glock 19 gen 3! Excited to get it.
@Stirwood2 I like it. I don’t love it. I know it’ll last me forever & it’s a gun that can be used and abused but imo after shooting over 1500 rounds through it. The trigger is not very user friendly or easy to learn. Even with changing the connected to a 3.5lb pull it still isn’t as smooth as other 9mm pistols in the price range. If I were you, I would look into something like a Springfield xd9. My girlfriend got one gifted to her from her father and out of the box it’s 10x easier to shoot accurately than the Glock and I spent $600 in aftermarket stuff to try to get the Glock to be a good daily driver.
@@Crimithy nice man i hope to get my first glock very soon :D
Not you with the max cash stack thumbnail.
@@Crimithy Your opinion goes out the window after you said the trigger is hard to figure out. Also, an XD9 should never be recommended. That is red flag number 2 that you have no idea what you are talking about when it comes to firearms.
@@Crimithy Glocks are like that most of the time. The trigger on mine is fine. Not as good as the Walther pdp one. My Father has that one, and I just love how it feels. If I would have to choose between the Glock and the Walther pdp, it would be a hard choice, but I gotta go with the Walther. It's got the same reliability as the glock, it's got that German engineering, and you also get 4 extra rounds and a red dot cut. If you have $600, I would just say to get the Walther. It's already got anything that you would want to add to a glock. Glocks are awesome tho. I would be ok with either one at the end of the day.
My daughter just bought this 19 Gen 3 today as her first handgun. We looked at several offerings from other manufactures but this one fit her hand the best and the slide was much easier for her to rack and close. I think she made a great choice.
...really liking my G19 Gen-3...no mods , bells n whistles or gazoos....just dependable simplicity.
Thanks for the GLOCK G19 Gen. 3 review... much appreciated! This is by far one of my favorite handguns today!!

Outstanding review, one the better ones on UA-cam. It was so in depth that I subscribed. I'll be looking forward to your other reviews.
I still have my gen 2 Glock 19 on-duty weapon for 28 years and I still love it.
That's impressive
That's pretty cool. Hanging in there like a hair in a biscuit
I just ordered it. It is my first handgun. Thank you for the review
Very informative video. Thank you for the detail and for having perfect audio. I was on the fence between Glock 17 or 19 and this video helped me decide. Thank you.
I've had my G19 gen 3 for years & I agree with you on everything you said. In my opinion the Glock19 is the best 9mm pistol.
This was my first handgun, will always have it.....it’s a good pistola.
Nice review thanks. The Gen 3 Glocks are the latest Generation of Glocks that we can buy here in California. I have the Glock 22 and Glock 26. The G19 will be my next purchase.
Thanks for the terrific post!
Great video, love my G19 gen3.
Great vid man. Can't go wrong with a Glock. Straight forward hardware.
Gen3 is a little blocky on the ergos, but the trigger and the Teflon-like, frying pan, slide finish is excellent.
Bought my gen 3 glock 19 many years ago when they first came out. Several "hot brass" from each clip would hit me in the face or go down my shirt --- happened with anyone else who shot it also. Dealer said I just wasn't holding it correctly and nothing he could do so I put it up in the closet and bought a sig 9mm and have never had a single problem with it. Ran across a video on UA-cam last week that said to put a gen 4 ejector in your gen 3 to fix the brass in the face issue. Got it out of the closet the same day I saw the video and took it back to same dealer who put the gen 4 ejector in ---- took it shooting over the weekend and it is completely fixed --- love it now. ALL brass flies wayyyyy off to the right now.
I just purchased a new gen 3 glock 19.. is this something you recommend me converting? Sorry if that was a dumb question just would like your feedback thank you
@@az_thenatural7295 You really only need to if you have problems with brass ejecting to your face all the time.. Some people do it preemptively because sometimes they dont start doing it until its broken in a few hundred later. Older gen3 glocks don't have this problem, mostly just newer 9mm gen 3s made in the last 5-10 years.
Edit: That said, I have a newer made g19 gen3 that's only maybe a couple years old with a few thousand rounds on it that shows no signs of brass to face issues and has the stock gen3 19 ejector. Ymmv.
Really? Mine is all stock with no issues like that. All brass falls to the right far enough away. Glad it got fixed
I like the smell of brass in the morning.
Great review sir💯
Your video presentation helped me figure out which G19 generation I have.
My Nineteen has "no" rail mount and came with an "non" captured and plastic or polymer guide rod.
So, I have the G19 gen 2.
Thank you for uploading this video. 👍
great video ,definitely i'm going to buy this model.
I love mine. I bought the gen 3 and put a custom slide on it. It’s mint! Love it for my every day carry.
Love my Glock 19! My first handgun!
..very good review .... informative and to the point ...with zero negativity ... thankfully because I recently bought that exact gun ...only new... although Glocks can be modified... they're made to be pretty ... they're made to do the job .....cheers and be safe people 👍
Love my 19 Gen 3.
Thank you for your review.very professinal.

Good review

Awesome video. You have a great voice. I have the 17 gen 3. #FJB
Just bought a glock 19 gen 3 lovin it
Thanks!
Great video , I was on the fence over getting a Glock 19 or the smaller S&W "shield" , so I became convinced that the Glock (gen 3) is one of the best models to own ! It"s a little larger but I like that, so luckily I found a dealer here in Ca. that sells these just 20 mins. away , So I ordered one , and will pick it up in 10 days can"t wait , thanks for helping me decide my friend !
How much did you get it for my local shop has one for $550 and it’s marked as a used firearm but looks clean. For just some more coin I can go with the Springfield hellcat
Here in California the Gen 3 is the only ones on the “roster of approved firearms “. I think we got the best of the bunch. We’re screwed if they ever quit making the G3.
Just picked this up as my first ever. Almost chose the Glock 23 over it but I wanted something more accurate and easy to use since I'm not a large person by any means
As long as California has it on their roster they will keep making gen 3 Gen4 has discontinued
You're screwed anyway. Land of the fruits and nuts

I have an XD9 already but this will be my second firearm. I ordered one a couple of days ago. I shot it a few days ago and was pleasantly surprised. Thanks for the information and video.
Jorge Barake thanks for watching!
That XD9 is the best I've shot with! VERY ACCURATE! I might do the same thing. Get an XD 9 first (especially since it's ambidextrous) then probably get a G19 (Gen 3 only since I'm in CA).
Great pistol.
A perfect review.
Thank You!
I normally carry a Smith n Wesson 9mm EZ. but it only 8 +1 magazine. I put a glock 19 in lay a way today. Getting it out Friday or Saturday. Can't wait to shoot it. It should be a treat from what people say.
I love mine. I can control the recoil beautifully, and I quite prefer the finger grooves and the stipple. It's better than the gen 5 ones for sure. I have a 48 mos with the gen 5 stipple, and I can see the difference. I can control it just as good, but it slips from my hands, and I have to readjust every once in a while. The only problem that I have with the gen 3 G19, is the mag release. I can barely press it. It's just too tiny and too angled. I've been looking for some aftermarket aluminum ones. They will probably make this the perfect gun for me.
Yup, my first handgun bought in 08. I’ll never get rid of it.
The maritime spring cups are worth it as far as upgrades go.
Ty sir I just ordered mine today, for my new armed security job, my 1st gun.
Congratulations on the new job and on getting your first handgun! You definitely started off with a great handgun! Thanks for watching!
I’m waiting for mine I work in the armored truck industry
My favorite generation is the Generation 4 and Gen3 but the new Gen5 MOS is awesome.
Just ordered mine
love the gen 3 .
Im left handed, i love my stock g19g3, with nite sights, only upgrade needed, its a Glock it just works
it's ambidextrous?
@Stirwood2 preach left handers will take over the world one day
For me at least, the perfect handgun will always be my Berreta M9….But I recently got a Glock G19 Gen 3 and it’s running a close second! I also have a G48 for CCW. Great guns!
This gun is my back up to my Sig P226
You got it backwards
Gen 3’s are the best Glocks in my opinion. I have a gen 3 rtf2 Glock 19. Good video.
Why is the Gen 3 the best? I’m worried about the gripping not having enough texture gripping and being slippery.
@@jaytay7989 Get Talon grip tape, it lasts forever
@@jaytay7989 they aren't necessarily the best, just the most proven out of any gen. Though the newer gen 3s aren't as good as they used to be imo due to changing of different materials like mim parts and lack of tenefer treatment (though the nitride treatment is almost as good). Theyre still great guns though, just the older pre 2010 ones were a little better *imo*
I saw a brand new G19 gen 3 in my local gun store this week. It was only $20 cheaper than all the other brand new glocks
Get you some night sights and a good holster that’s all you need baby!
I love my g19 gen 3
AwSoMe video! Thank you for your time making it!👍🏻 I’m picky the Gen 3 for my micro Roni..😀

2900 rds and still going. PERFECTION 👌.
Just got me one!!!
I’m in Australia, and I just ordered mine today ! Legalities here require barrel length te be 120 mm or more, and only strictly used at a legal authorised Gun Club !
Can you bring it home and transport it to and from the range? Seems bad if you have to store it there all the time.
It's 2023 and there are a lot more options or sexier pistols on the market to choose from but I decided that my first handgun be the Glock 19. It only has 34 parts which is significantly less than the competitors. Less parts = less chances of a malfunction. Reliability ... especially in a life or death situation is key.
Can’t wait to get mine. I’m in Cali so gen 3 it is. Already have my night sights and extended slide/mag release ready to order lol. Thinking about going all out and getting the 17 and 21 (.45 acp) too 😬 wish I could get the gen 5s and the Glock 45 but not a big deal. I’ve heard a lot that people still prefer the gen 3s the most. Makes the Cali gun laws not so upsetting. Have a little Glock family to match my CZ family, CZ 75 compact, CZ 75 B, CZ 97 B (.45 acp). Having a huge urge to get the CZs sent to Cajun gun works too for the pro treatment 😩 have the best steel guns and best polymer guns 👊🏼
Hello,
What brand and where did you order your extended slide/mag release and night sights?
Thanks in advance.
Is the gripping slippery? That’s my only worry for my back ordered Gen 3. Stationed in CA.
My first-ever gun the "Glock 19 gen 3" wit a custom GGP V2 slide bought it a couple of months ago, love it 4 life now 😁, so sexy, tough,n reliable 🙌🔥💯#GlockBoyz #StayGlocky
Easily the most popular glock in the world...G19
Eww St the tying
When i was a kid the g17 was the go to glock but now that im older my favorite is the g21 but as far as a 9mm goes ive got to say the g26 is my favorite 9mm it will take all glock 9mm double stack mags
Only thing I didn’t like about the Gen 3 Glocks were the sticky mag releases on two different 19 models I tried. So I went the P80 route but I’m just curious if that’s common on Gen 3 Glocks?
When did Ted Cruz go bald and grow a beard?....
hahahahahhahahahahahahaha... 😒
can't unsee it now...
ted cruz a disgrace, can’t unsee it now tho
@Stolen of Russia or China?
i want this really
Purchased mine yesterday put 100 round through it out of box with no problem, get my license soon.
Do to where I’m stationed, I limited to Gen 3’s. Are they inferior? I have a G19 Gen 3 on backorder. My only worry are the grips being too slippery when hands are sweaty or wet. I refuse to put talon grips on and really don’t want to have it stippled. Guess I’ll have to use it as is or use a rubber grip. Bought an aftermarket beaver tail. Not worried about the spring since it’s a 9mm. Is the Gen 3 worth it? Is it inferior? I like the grip texture on the Gen 4s. Thank you.
I went and CZ Smith & Wesson Ruger you name it, come back to Glock 19 ,the best!
My First handgun that I bought was a M&P .40 Full size then I went to the shield 9mm now I’ve been carrying my glock 19 gen 3 since I bought it awhile ago. Most comfortable gun I’ve carried even more comfortable then the shield.
I like the conversion kits to 22lr or a glock 23 gen slide make it a 40sw
Gen 3 is my favorite. Hopefully it’s available until the end of time.

I’m planning on ordering this gun sometime soon. Have you come around to using your glock yet?
I haven’t fired it yet. Im still waiting for my ammo to come in but i have messed around with it. Its the perfect size for my smaller hands. Just not used to guns so I have a hard time cocking it.
Its 9mm so the recoil aint bad but hows it compare to the gen 4 and 5 when shooting one handed?
Glock needs to call their generations “options” rather than generations which indicate a clear step forward. Some changes are backwards. Most of the differences are personal preferences like finger grooves and texture.
Still have mine, and don't plan on ever getting rid of it, and it's had a lot of ammo put through it, and still no problems !!!
Hope gen 4 and 5 will become available in California, may they get rid of their crazy stamping law requirement for modern guns.
Nothing is legal in this communist state except drugs lol
Do these Gen3's come with night sights?
How many of you noticed the demonstrator went to the slide release BEFORE pressing the magazine release button, releasing the magazine? The magazine should be taken out first. Once you get the magazine out, you want to check the chamber to make sure there is not a round there. You can slide the barrel back while pressing up on the slide release to lock the barrel back for inspection.
I just picked one up used in great condition with 2 mags for 325 out the door.
Hello to you,

G19 is Glock perfection.
Can the gen 3 take gen 5 magazines?
Hello,
Thank you for the video! One question; do you have to pull the slide back everytime before pulling the trigger? I'm not too familiar with firearms so I'm just curious.
Kind regards.
John A no
Just when the magazine is empty
Yes, it's a single action in terms of once the hammer (striker) is dropped it can't be re-cocked/released again unless the slide has cycled back to reset the striker. Edit: -ie pulling the hammer doesn't cock the hammer/striker and release it like it does on a double/single action system like a Berretta m9 or Sig 226
I’m new to Glocks. Went to an indoor gun range. Fired both gen 3 Glock 19 and 17. It was harder for me to manage recoil with the 17 than the 19 and considering I have large hands (wear size xl gloves) I felt more comfortable handling the 19. I noticed the length of the grip on the 17 had almost too much slack when I raised my grip on tail which in turn made my support grip uncomfortable.
The dual recoil spring in the Gen 4 and 5 help.
@@terrytolentino5459 Thanks. I ended up going with a Gen 3 19, but I’ll definitely look into Gen 4 and 5. I think I may even purchase a Springfield Hellcat Pro. Got to shoot it recently and really liked it.
Just got my WCL I’m thinking bout a glock 19 as my first one???
I have had MANY Gen5s over the last few years. Ive seen a lot of abnormal wear and some significant issues with the frames themselves. Going back to gen3s.
Exactly what I did. Gen 5 finish is crap. Still lovin the 3. 👍🇺🇲
The finish on my G19 5 barrel is wearing off.
I took off the finger grooves highly recommend
That and a little undercut. My favorite of all time. Buttery smooth.
is the little slack between the polymer frame body and the top steel is fine? i can see the barrel and the spring...
You don't need to worry about the gap between the slide and the frame on a Glock. That's completely normal and is just the way it manufactured. I'm going to post a quick video about it showing the differences between the glock and some other stiker fired polymer pistols.
I got a gen3 because in commifornia,,that's all they can sell if your not active law enforcement, well guess what I love my glock gen3,
Sounds like you have a weak firing pin spring. May want to swap that out?
