  • Every operating fluid gets worn with time. Especially hydraulic fluids subject to heat and pressure. In this video i try to convey the importance of flushing a power steering system on a Mercedes W164.
The ML was just a test subject, this should be done as regular maintenance on any car.

Thanks for the video its very informative. But i want to point out that the fluid reservoir actually have a filter built in it which cant be changed you need to change the whole reservoir. Correct me if i am wrong.
    Thanks

normally its a fine mesh inside the reservoir but in this case I do not know if its there.

It's actually a undye transmission fluid. It's odd but thats what they said works.

Thanks for the video this is one job I need to do on my W164, I'm wondering if placing an inline fuel filter in the return line would help keep the fluid cleaner over time.

you're welcome. i would say the filter would be redundant because if you have large chunks in the system the steering rack and pump are gone. I would say change the fluid every 40k or so same as with the diff fluids.
