Mac stopped by a Mexican restaurant in my town while he and his gf were on their way to move to LA. it was weird and random (I live in a super small town) but I got to talk to him. He is seriously the coolest, most genuine dude. the way he treats people makes his music all the better.
My first real exposure to him was seeing him on an episode of Hot Ones (that show where they eat increasingly hotter chicken wings and answer crazy questions). I had only heard a few of his songs before that , and I didn't dig 'em that much. I've been watching interviews with him lately, and after seeing what a nice, chill dude he is, I've been checking his music out more, and he's growing on me. Funny how that works.
It's crazy how they can stand singing the same songs over-and-over again for years and still have a smile on their faces at the end of the day. God Bless.
When I first listened to Salad Days, I was on my computer playing a game while the whole album played in the background and when Chamber of Reflection came I was like "Whoa that sounds so blissful and cool..." And then I learned the song on bass the next day.
Its gonna be a decade since this amazing performance was posted on youtube, it aged well. I watched in 2015 and I can say it stills amazing. Man, has been a decade, im still being a big mac demarco's fan and i just have to thank this man for such an amazing music ❤.
KEXP is such a cool radio project. It is great that they consistently invite great bands to play live and have pertinent interviews. The interviews are always to the point, with great mood and all.
these guys have the best fuckin time in the world every time they play, and it makes seeing them so much more fun. they set up AND break down their own stage, and don't take themselves too seriously up there. always feels like a small, DIY set and I love em for it
People always ask me why I idolize Mac so much. Apart from his great music & lyrics, I really love his personality. He's such a sweet & chill guy. He's just who he is & doesn't care if people like or dislike him. He's just a happy guy who does his own thing & respects others. He doesn't say he's the best or anything, he's really humble. That's what makes him so great! I hope to meet him one day & just talk about anything. Soon hopefully!
Ah, this was immensely wonderful. They all appear to be a bunch of guys you'd meet strolling down the beach on a sunny afternoon, and all very much talented. I'd love to jam with them any day~
Mac's burst into laughter when Andy starts shredding is so hilarious, started screaming and laughing myself when I first watched this. :D Love Andy's transformation over the time he joined, developing under Mac's wing from a cute insecure looking love child, into a surf god riff warrior!
Roy Wade I know right, the guitar solo in let her go at 5:15 is so fucking good. I heard Mac live in London a couple months ago and when that part played I lost my shit.
Dad gom it. When I first heard these solos I thought they were so out of place, but after listening to this another 50 times I realize it's perfect. Andy is a genius.

I am completely and utterly jealous of this experience.

Colin A same thing happened to me
I met him and Pierce too and they're so down to earth and cool people. They remind me of my friends and not some fuckin rock stars or something. haha
That bass player is the most Canadian looking guy I've ever seen lol
Loooooooool hahahahahahahaha

I hope he doesn't end up hating salad days
I agree, but if you think this is bad imagine a band like The Who. They've been together for 55 years.
Its cause they are all cooked as fuck

up !
God bless you!
How music is supposed to feel, fun and free. Finally a band that doesn't take their existence so seriously. Just do you!
That last guitar solo was fucking hilarious and beautiful to watch man idek
As a drummer I'll say, it's rare to see a band where the most normal looking dude is the drummer.
you really want to feel special he?! ;-)
Check out Connan Mockasin's drummer
The last time I saw the lead guitarist, Andy, he cut his hair and shaved. He looks better.
Sam Bailey the drummer from king gizzard and the lizard wizard should belong here more
Which one? Erick or Mike?
dude, andy's solos are the best
Alexa Tarriba Marc's reaction
"my god andy"
andy: "there is no god" 😂 😂
Su música refleja todo lo que quiero ser 😳

Debatably the best era of Mac’s career was from 2012 to 2015.
Absolutely iconic 🙏
This Old Dog is fire tho
"oh my god andy"
"there is no god"
hahaha spot on andy
Dez Harris It's called modesty. Andy just doesn't want to admit that he is God.
Robby Koz I would never invite you to a dinner party.
BellCurve
Your loss, I make an excellent Gnocchi.
Robby Koz Damn, I love Gnocchi.
Dez Harris Except Mac Demarco is a Christian :p

Mac actually did a tutorial on his channel if you want to learn the synth part (even if you don't it's so hilarious it's worth watching)
Devlin Red Crow Your picture is awesome!
Man, you just can't hate these guys. They are really in love with what they do.
Dude, Mac is always feeling life. He's tickled by everything, it's awesome
fuck this is the first time ive given mac demarco a listen. What have i been doing with my life.
dont feel bad....its mine now lol
Chamber of Reflection was amazing
I love the drum tone with having a shirt on top. Makes the pop just right! Very In the Court of the Crimson King-esque
Dampening does wonders!
He could have just used E-Rings but alright shirts are cool too
+Caoimhín Ó Laighin Though nobody can beat or match Michael Giles snare tone on ITCOTCK
YEAHHH
And the foam at the bridge of the bass as well!! Going to give that one a try!
19:25 the greatest moment in the history of music. that nice solo with the cool distortion and mac's reaction of pure joy
i have literally been waiting for mac to come on kexp
Andy's solo almost sounds like How Soon Is Now
Kia Doll it is
***** Played incredibly wrong, but yeah it's the same chords
Robbie Broome nah man, thats the right way of playing it. well except the end but look at the way Johnny plays it live man
It's the wrong strumming pattern I'm 90% sure?
Robbie Broome It's the tremolo on the guitar that is a bit quicker. But if he turned down the speed then it would be spot on
gosh it's like the best live sesh i've ever heards. it's so perfect
And the funniest
i should've watched them live :|

Andy's solo on let her go was orgasmic
Pierce McGarry looks like so many guys from the background of photos of my parents parties from the 70's and 80's Alberta.

Ohh yeah bahd, same with us Michiganders.

only certain people understand the alberta lifestyle!
Emily Walsh OMG right... I luv the Double A
Mac's delight at Andy's solo will never not fill me with joy.
"good morning Vietnam" got me soo good.
Mac's band is the most stereotypical bunch of Canadians I've ever seen
Good people.
😂
"You guys aren't having any fun are you?"
"Not even a lick of it..."
Hahaha
Mac Just makes me happy
I will never get tired of listening to Chamber of Reflection, it literally makes me trip everytime
drummers are underrated
I would really like to know how Mac can smoke so much and still sing like an angel.
YES! A new mac demarco performance I can listen to while I do homework!

The solo by andy at 18:05 sounds like the smiths how soon is now i think
Sounds very similar
cause it is haha,
Still together a "love song". How Soon Is Now, essentially a song about being lonely and unloved.
dude... it's the macarena lol
whoa ive only noticed that now
I love how goofy and brilliant and weird Mac is. And the rest of the guys are awesome! I love seeing them live.
Still Together sounds beautiful with the entire band.
Cheryl you are awesome!
Andy's guitar tone is PURE GOLD
i love his energy when he performs
5:53 fills me with pure joy everytime
FINALLY, also andy is a hero and a pretty good shredder on that 12 string
Love how in 'Still Together' he just breaks out into 'How Soon Is Now' by the Smiths.
I thought i was the only one that noticed lol
This video introduced me to our boy Mac. God bless.
This is perfect, Cheryl seems so comfortable interviewing them, plus they are having so much fun, cheers
Elite video production. Perfect amount of time focusing on each band member, and showing plenty of screentime for all of them.
hes the cutest homeless looking person ive ever seen
These people look and sound like they are literally about to burst out of happiness, joy and fun.
Andy looks like Matthew McConaughey in Dazed and Confused.

you wont find a band thats more true to itself and unique, they love the music they play and it shows when they perform it live.

the drums in chamber of reflection sound so good!!!
Wow that end solo with the bit from How soon is now was crazy!
