I've been enjoying these Odell videos for a while now and really appreciate your hard work, precision and artistry. I do have a question which I just can't figure out: how do you get the liquid concrete to start and s top pumping while you are laying it down? Do you have some sort of remote control to the concrete pump truck guy, or is there some sort of device on the hose?
Very cool. Just curious why some jobs use saws to cut the crack lines when it's dry and some are done when it's wet? Cheers.
Personal preference. Both ways work just as good if done properly!
Very neat and tidy job, You did really well for your first big solo project ! Can I ask is the concrete that you use when using the pumping truck the same consistency/stone size etc as regular concrete that is poured the conventional way ? Just when I watch the pumped concrete you never seem to see much stone. Thanks
Yes it is the same consistency as the conventional bag concrete. It’s pea gravel rock with cement and sand and water
Look's great 🙂
Thank you! Cheers!
Great work, can’t believe they’re leaving that dated pool coping.
That’s actually new coping they just installed
looks really good. Concrete totally not a thing for backyards out here in germany but personally I like it.
Fair enough!
Looks perfect to me. I'd hire you guys in a minute if you worked closer to NE Washington state.
Ty
Mint👌
Thanks!
Could you wrap plastic sheet/tape around the house walls to keep it clean while pouring?
Great job Tyler and team! 👏💕👍 How come you and Timmy don't work together all the time? You guys live far apart? 🤔
Sometimes
That looked like a really soupy mix. Is that because the 3500 psi? Hard to tell with the edit how quick it went off. you had the guys to stay ahead of it. Great outcome. Main question is just to figure if the added water would help me mainly mixing by 120 lbs machine and finishing by myself.
Water definitely helps with the lay down
Sure do miss hearing “hey, David Odell here” lol
Perhaps you could explain why this is your first big solo pour.
Thanks,
Good question! I’ve done many large pours with my family but this was the first I ran and managed solo from beginning to end
How much does it cost to create a concrete foundation for a 3 bedroom, 1 bathroom house of 1000 feet? How many inches deep or thick does a house slab foundation have to be?
👍👍
👍
Does the concrete have an additive in it so it dries slower or do you wait for a certain time of the day it certain weather? I only ask because I helped a friend pour a slab recently and it was rock hard within 2h. Thanks
No additives. Just depends on weather really. This was also in shade the whole day
@@OdellCompleteConcrete thank you for the reply, keep up the amazing work!
ty
🎉 thank you for the video bro🎉 I hope you have a good future 🙏...😊.. JJ.. Jonjon..
Thanks, you too!
Hey, Im no concrete man but Im a big fan. Seen every video. I must say that was the WETTEST batch ive EVER seen. Would love to know what your old man would say about that slump. Great finished product though!! Love the videos!
I thought the same thing initially, but it did dry up after the prime water was out
I know it's not part of your job, but I'd like to see a photo at least of the job after it's all complete and filled with water.
It’s on our channel 👍
So you do the prep and then hire a crew to do the pour and finish?
Yea I do prep and bring finishers in on pour day
Any advice for someone looking to get into the industry? I live in SoCal and I don’t have much experience in the trades besides automotive but most of the concrete finisher jobs I see require experience. I’ve worked multiple different jobs trying different things, but I’m 25 now and I’m really looking for something more stable that I could make a career out of.
Start at the bottom work your way up
Somehow you kept the brick coping, brick ribbons, and sides of the house free of stray concrete. How? I would be masking all those edges to avoid having a lot of difficult cleanup later.
One guy on sponge / clean up. We wrapped up the tile in plastic.
Is your company with the union ?
No
Man is your daddy alright 🤔
Well deserved retirement 🙌
What color is the concrete?
Standard issue
Tyler, habla usted Español? 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟💯💯💯💯💯👍👍👍👍👍❤❤❤❤❤
Un poco 🤏
Only down side was the 50/50 didn't get to strut for the camera.
I know 😢
Can you show us an actual crack in the concrete after a job was finished?
I wish
Big fan of your videos and work but don’t like the suggestion by Dad about removing that corner drain. As a pool owner in SoCal, you can never have enough deck drains…personal experience with this one.
Out of that whole backyard, the pool crew puts it dead center of the walkway 🤦♂️🤦♂️. You and your crew do absolutely amazing jobs. Would love longer videos. But I understand
TY
Y’all left the rebar laying on the ground
Nope we picked it up
Wow! I guess you just wasted money on the Steele, because it’s not even in the concrete 😂
how much did you charge for this job?
7500
