I am a member with multiple contracts and enjoyed staying at Grand Floridian, Polynesian, Beach Club, and Vero Beach. We have been members since 2016 and totally enjoy it. To have the best enjoyment of your membership you need to plan well in advance for your vacation.
Excellent point! We were already big planners before we became DVC members. People who like to book last minute vacations are definitely not good candidates for DVC. Thanks so much for watching!
We've considered DVC about 15,000 times and run the numbers again and again, and while I know we'd love it, it just doesn't make sense for us, especially with the non-Disney vacations we often go on. Not going to lie, though. When we were at the Disneyland Hotel last month, that new DVC tower was enticing. It'd be great to know we always have a place there to stay, but again, for the money and resources that would go into that, we can have stays that are just as good elsewhere.
But I'm sure we'll be tempted and run the numbers at least 15,000 more times in the future! :D
We’ll, we’re definitely not helping. We’re a bad influence! But yes, it’s very much dependent upon your travel habits whether it makes sense or not.
I just passed ROFR on 170 points at SSR and it only took 15 days! Now that I will be an official DVC member I will look at buying some small direct contracts. Your videos have helped me sooo much through the process and answered all of my questions, thank you.

I’m thinking if this for the family as they LOVE Disney and we can do direct flights there, plus going to Aulani this summer.
But trying to understand, how much can you book at properties, like a Florida or Paris, at the 150 points rate? And are we locked into certain time frames?
I actually have about 1M more questions.

Great vid! Very easy to understand...certainly a lot clearer than when I first explained it to my lovely wife. 🙂 We are DVC members with the Polynesian as our home resort. We've been using our points at Vero Beach the last couple of years and love it! We considered purchasing another contract at Vero, but the higher annual dues are stopping us.

Hi Jen, My husband and I are considering buying DVC. Your videos are so helpful! Since we would actually be purchasing a piece of real estate, can we write off the annual dues when we file our taxes every year? Thanks for any advice you can give us!!!
Hello! I'm so glad that you've found the videos to be helpful. First of all, I have to say that I am not a tax professional, so I am not qualified to give tax advice but here's my take on it... we do not write off annual dues for our DVC properties. Some members may do so but we do not. If we decided to rent out some of our points, then we might consider writing off the dues for the portion of the points that we rent out. Other members may give different answers, but we don't factor in any write-offs when we're doing a cost-analysis on a DVC contract.
