If you had one of those when you were a little kid life was magical
Had one.., and it was... 👍
Buddy had one when I was 15-16 years old. -When he'd pull up my driveway, it sounded like a 450 twin rumbling inside my dad's living room. Would hang with my Suzuki DS 100 with ease.
My first new bike was a XR100. It was the first year with the pro-link I thought that was so cool.
Had one of those when I was 12. Dad bought it for me for $250. I had it for a little over a year and he resold it for $275. Mine had the black side plates though. Cool little bike and it never gave me any trouble. I gave it plenty of trouble though.
We thought we were cool
We had the BEST toys back in the 70's! The thrills these mini-bikes gave us were immense! And, 'back in the day', so much land here in the USA was undeveloped! We would disappear into the woods all day with these great little bikes!
Happiness doesn't come in a bottle, it comes with a throttle! Haha. I just made that up.
That 75 looks pretty trick with all the red and the laid down shocks.
My 1st bike was a 78 xr75 I loved that bike it was awesome
Bullet proof Honda!!! One Christmas 6 or 7 kids on my street got mini bikes and motorcycles for Christmas in 1971. One kid got an XR 70, And it was fast! I was 11 and my brother was 13 and we both got Suzuki Gaucho 50’s! Which were big wheel dogs! Immediately we put on 70cc kits with bigger carbs, top end and expansion chamber. We could keep up with the XR 70 but he would smoke us on top end. These little Honda’s were the best! Great memories!! I’m 62 and still ride. I will have a bike or bikes until I die.
I haven't heard the sound of an XR75 since i was 12 years old. I used to have a 1980 model CR80R elsinore two stroke but the XR75 was very popular as well. Thanks for bringing back the memories boys!👍😎
I had a 81 yz 80 and friend had the 1980 80 cr, loved the red engine. zy was a hair faster, but the metal tank was so nice on the cr
I am your same age and this is the bike that all the boys wanted that year! Classic!
I also had one of these. I don't remember the model year but it looked exactly the same as the one in the video. It was my second bike. The first being a little Honda QA50. My dad had a tractor with a box blade and made me a cool little track with some jumps. I would ride around that track until I ran out of gas - pretending I was Steve Wise - lol (he was a local guy) Literally have tears in my eyes just thinking about it. Those were good days.
I have to watch this video over and over . I remember the XR75 very well. They also made a XL75.. Very sweet wish I had one . I love The XR89s, XR100s, XL 80s, XL100s . These are by far my favorites .
This was my first bike. Great memories.
Strong frame that can take some bigger jumps even with an adult. Suspension is pretty fair for a kid also. About as simple and easy to work on as it gets. Lose the pipe for a lighter bike, advance the flywheel -about the only mods you need to do. Will go maybe 60mph with the flywheel advance and beat most 70-100cc bikes of the same time. Kids and young adults beat the hell out of these things so finding a excellent condition one is pretty rare.
Collecting/fixing Honda CT70 (street legal), Xr75/80, 100/125/175/200 can be fun and quite profitable. CL/SL
Great bikes that hold value over time.
I was 4 months old when that bike was made, wish i still looked and feel that good.
I spent the best years of my life on this bad boy. Brings a smile to my face just hearing that sound again
My first ride !! Instantly addicted to motorbikes
We had alot of fun on this exact bike when we were kids. We made jumps with the xr for our 2 strokes. Must have launched that xr into the air 50 times or more. Tough little bike. The exhaust on ours didn't go under the engine though.
What a buzz, a great little motorcycle for a Junior rider . Excellent Ken cheers
I rode the wheels off one of those about 40+ years ago. I had so much fun.
Nothing like a small bore bike to bring the inner child out. I fricken love it!
My EXACT dream bike as a kid that I never got! I’ve had dozens of great bikes over the decades since, but still never got an XR75…
Same here Steve! My last bike was the 2005 Vmax, but always wanted a XR75.
84 xr 80 was my first bike! Cool to see a mint 75!
Fine looking little bike. A great beginner's bike. 2 of my friends, growing up, had XR 80's. Always loved them, and wanted one as a young kid, until I discovered the CR's. Lol
Oh WOW! I had that exact bike when i was 12. My bro did too. We rode the Hell out of them in NC. Could not wait to get off the bus and on that thing till dark every day. VERY reliable. That was the first taste of freedom and A LOT more fun than peddling the Diamondback. ( still have it). Ill Never forget those days in the woods. Thanks for the reminder brother! Love it !
Yup! I got mine when I was 10, and I'd sprint off of the school bus, have that sucker fired up and about a half lap around the yard before the bus even pulled away. (True story)
My uncles father had one when we were kids. All us kids used line up to ride it around the pine trees on the farm good memories
Awesome restoreation! Loverly Original KEIHIN "M.I.J" PC20 CARB!!! KILLER XR75!!! Thank you very so much for nice VID!! \m/ Cheers,
Nice I still have a 1978 honda xl 75 in my barn I bought my son back in the 80s 👍 I need to restore it also .
Man I’m choked up. Had a restored 74’ xr75 I got in 1990. If I knew then what I know now I would have been nicer to that bike and still have it. Still have dreams at night about that bike. Thanks for bringing back more memories
My 02 VTX 1800C cures all my mental health problems and it's the only bike in the World I idolize.
Childhood memories. There were several ,some I road with that had one . Great bike
If we would bring back points classes specifically for these the sport would explode with growth
So many memories!!! 👍🇺🇸
Awesome bike classic 70s honda 👌
I had the exact same bike the foot pegs are the absolute worst design bolted into the aluminum block when riding hard they stripped out fell off I had to rest my feet on the engine cases.
But I had fun on it!
😁beautiful, miss my 76 XR ...
It's one of those bike that with some TLC, will last a lifetime.
I had one of these when I was a kid
Got one for Christmas still have picture. It was in our living room my dad was the best. Didn't really realize how hard he had to work to get that bike , but had fun on it for 3 years😊
Man us adults such hard life as kids who dreamed gave it now! Thanks, Kaptan America
Honda was always smart with the Mini Trails , XR's and XL's . Everybody I knew wanted a Honda . I still have a 76' red , white and blue Hondline jersey . I only bought a Suzuki 185 that year because the XL's were a funky blue and the pipe was ugly as hell . PK
My first bike was a an XR75 it’s the bike I learned on in ‘86 love that bike . Great job nice bike
I got one when I was 10, and I'd sprint off of the school bus, have that sucker fired up and about a half lap around the yard before the bus even pulled away. (True story) This is all inspiration for me to complete the little project 1978 that I've had (going on 20 years....)
The Best pit bike ever made !!!
My first bike, brand new!!
My first bike was a 1979 XR80 which IMO was the BEST 'XR75'! Bigger motor, old school styling and still the low slung pipe, which was they key to its horsepower. I am still searching for my original 1979, but luckily I have 2 1979's, and an '84. Awesome bikes!
The XR75 was every riders first bike to ride in the mid to late 70s. At least where I come from. I learned on this exact machine. “A cure to adult depression.” 😂 Exactly!
That was my first bike at 9 years old, had to push it home from the garage sale my dad got it from happiest 30min walk I ever did.
I had that bike growing up I used to smoke single shock Xr 100s on that thing super op motor I loved it ...
Had one just like it dad bought it new in the box ,I rode many laps and hours as a kid on mine. Good times.
I actually owned an 82 xr80 that bike could not be killed I believe it was sold and bought by so many kids growing up I was like 5th at 11 or 12 yo lmao diehard like all Hondas!
Jeff Wards Xr75 was very cool
I remember test riding my XR75 in the parking lot @ VIP HONDA in Plainfield NJ.
GBA🇺🇸
A school buddy of mine had one. I loved the look of that thing like nothing other. I was however an Italjet kind of kid
Cool bike had one back in the day. Awesome miss it trying to get one from my grandson.
Thank goodness Sr didn’t give this the small bore 2 stroke treatment.
What a little darlin! I think mine was a 76 or 78 model, I’ve got a scar on my finger we’re a slammed in to the water tanks at home when I was about 10.
Looks like fun!!!
I had one with FMF pipe sounded amazing
On any Sunday I’m a flying man.
I wish they still made pit bikes like this. All i can find online is the modern design with single rear shock and plastic tank. This look so cool with the dual rear shocks and metal tank. Im surprised the Chinese don't offer any clones. I have seen some Chinese cl70 clones but not pit bikes.
I dreamed about that bike when I was a kid
Always wanted one. Never got it but had it good anyway. 👍
Beautiful
Had a XL75 as a kid. Did they call them XL75's in Canada?
No ,they had xr & xl in Canada in the 70's
Change oil frequently in these will run forever. 😊
Did you guys in the USA have the SL 70 Honda. They were before the xl 75 . I had one in Australia about 1972.
I had one. What part of RM80 didn't I understand?
Lol
Diamond 💎
My second bike.
I would love to have a 250 version of this. My modern trail bike is too tall for the type of riding I do these days. AJP PR4 here. 2017 model. Trades?
Those little fellas did well in motocross until the 2-strokes started dominating.
Who remembers jumping till the pegs ripped out
Woww
It doesn't have the sound of an old one at saddle back park with the Bassani header
History
