    Thanks for sharing my friend. I am 58 and looking to get back into off-roading doing some light enduro and have been looking at the 125X and 250X deciding which would be better. I lean towards the 125 for the light and nimble aspect. Ride safe...🤘😎🏍

      Thanks for watching. If your riding leans toward hard enduro you might be better off with the yz250z for more low end tourqe. But if your just talking trail riding you can't find a much better bike for smiles.👍

      @@Randy_Cox Mostly just trail riding and if any it would be extremely light enduro. I have a BMX and mountain biking background which is why keeping it light and flickable is more important than raw power to me. Plus a smaller bike might keep that dumb 20yr old that still lives in me under control LOL.

    Just subbed, love your 125x content. I have a 23 125x, it's so light and fun.
    Any update on your current jetting? Is it different to the video?
    I ended up at 55 pilot,165 main,nycg-1 or nyeg-3 if I wanted it a touch snappier.
    500ft 28*c with the factory keihin.
    I installed a stic super x carb from stic super torque its a night and day difference now that I have it dialed in 100%. It has a wall of torque off the bottom, a strong and smooth mid range and a top end that doesn't sign off with fantasic over rev characteristics. It's like riding a 150 now! If I was chasing power on a small bore bike, I would do this modification before a pipe or cylinder head change. I have ridden in conditions from 500-2500ft,18-38*c, it hasn't even required an airscrew adjustment or jet change.

      Welcome to the channel, glad to have ya and glad you enjoy the content. I went up a size or two on my main jet since this video, but the needle and pilot jets are the same still. The bike is still a little rich, but it is a practice bike and not a need every single pony race bike so I have not changed anything. It runs great, has plenty of power and doesn't spooge too bad out the pipe.👍
      If I was gonna do anything more than change a jet here or there I would buy a Lextron or Smartcarb and never buy jets again.🤣

    • @ottokirk2325
      @ottokirk2325 7 місяців тому

      Lectron pro is using a pilot jet now. But the Super X crushes my SmartCarb. X provides a wall of torque! It is freaky low end, but all the way to the extended top is not for lower skilled riders. It becomes a full race tune. Just an FYI

    • @patrickrushtonAussierider
      @patrickrushtonAussierider 7 місяців тому +1

      The beauty of the super x it can run the same jetting over a wide variety of engine sizes 125-300cc. As there are now tried and proven setting available it takes the guess work out and time wasted jetting the bike every time there is a big temp or elevation change. I have set it up now to be a set and forget tune regardless of the conditions or terrain being ridden, as the super x has the ability to adapt to the elevation and temp swings on the go.
      I currently have the hot tune in my bike. It runs a 80 pilot jet!,200 main and a 100 air correction jet fitted. Riding slow technical single track, no loading up or fouled plugs (yes that surprised me),excellent lugging ability at only 1/4 throttle, feels like my factory keihin did at wide open. Open the throttle more and it takes you to the moon. I found the top end signed off way to early with the factory keihin. It doesn't now. The super x has smoothed and widened my power curve. Maybe that's why when someone rides my bike they think I have installed a big bore kit?
      Looking forward to see your 125 journey, they definitely put a smile on your face. 👍

    I think the manufacturers purposely jet these new 2-strokes pig rich to cover their butts, knowing there's so many variances in fuel, plus elevation and temperature. I've been riding 2-strokes for 40+ years, I just bought a 2024 Beta 300RX, which is Beta's Moto version 300cc 2-stroke, it came just like your bike - PIG RICH. I'm sure if I was riding strictly Moto (wide open) all the time it may have been "ok", but for mild Moto and trail riding it was terrible. I went 3 sizes leaner on the root diameter of the needle (.0012" smaller), dropped the pilot from a 40 to a 38 and the main from a 172 to a 168 and the thing runs how it should. 1000ft elevation, 85F temp, and 93 octane ethanol free fuel, 50:1.

    • @Randy_Cox
      @Randy_Cox  6 місяців тому +1

      I guess if they want to shoot themselves in the foot and get a reputation of making bikes that run like dog shit then ya shipping them this way will do it. Some of us know how to jet carbs and make bikes run good, but the majority of people buying entry level bikes don't know anything and just assume the bike runs poorly and has terrible power.
      I for one to not agree ever shipping bikes this way. If shipped this way then the dealer local to the rider should be both trained and expected to tune the carb upon receiving it to sell.

  • @ottokirk2325
    @ottokirk2325 7 місяців тому +1

    No idle will be optimal. Like that for decades. I can put on one glove and mine dies. An idle interfears with cleanest response from way down low.

    • @Randy_Cox
      @Randy_Cox  7 місяців тому

      I disagree. If you have your bike so poorly tuned it won't idle you have the wrong jetting. Bike should be able to idle no problem and for extended time if needed. Like B-Rad explained on his Lectron setting video a bike shouldn't load up at idle and smoke like crazy after idling. This is bad jetting and poor understanding of how to setup a carb.

    • @ottokirk2325
      @ottokirk2325 7 місяців тому

      @@Randy_Cox you're confused. You don't have a metering rod carb. Idle circuit should not be elevated, as it muddies response. Lazy riders wanted to be like 4t riders with idles. It's a technical thing that any race shop practices. Blips and clutch keep it running.

      Reading your comment concerns me. If your bike is running rich and smoking you have to change the jets in the carb so it gets the right amount of fuel. Not change the oil to gas ratio you mix into the gas tank. Your oil to fuel ratio should stay the same the whole time you own your bike. Once you jet the carb correctly the smoke, regardless of amount of oil in gas, will lessen.
