Them 500's are legendary wish they still made them.
Raced a 84 CR500 while in high school when I only weighed 135lbs. Being among 40 of these things on starts was glorious anarchy.

I had a 84 cr 500 when i was 13. Got a few dollar's from a car accident that my mom let me spend on my own free will. I bought it from a veteran 2 stroke builder and champion quad racer. The bike was mint i couldn't even kick start it myself. At 13 years old i had no business owning this red rocket and was left alone to ride it whenever, wherever unsupervised. Being young and dumb not really knowing the machine i owned and its worth i regretfully sold it. I have yet to ride another big bore dirtbike that put heart pounding fear in me the way this bike did.

The air-cooled monster fins are rattling what a great sound!! 100% agreed, no water issues!! I think this was just as goodif not better than the 85-86-87 watered monsters. Yes I do own a 1984 LOW hr. CR-500
I had a 86 cr 500 mind you im 5'7" 170lbs lots of people thought i was crazy riding that monster everybody wanted to ride it the nicest way to tell them no was to say if you can start it in 2 kicks very few rode it lol.
I had a 1991 cr-500🦍, my roost would injure anyone behind me, and or damage their motorcycle. Once I got it upright and aimed at the next turn I was on it. I was literally a FLAG on that 70hp guided missile🚀. I showed him respect when I rode him. Then get on my "pimped-out" cr-250 and it felt like a 125 compared to the 500. At least I lived to tell about it. I love what you all do for the sake of motorcycles. A true blessing. 🏁🦸🏁
The cr 500 is and will always be an angry sounding motor.
