- The electric scooter market is growing in India but only a few manufacturers have rolled out products that promise substantial real-world performance. The likes of Ather have displayed competence in their electric scooter lineup. And now, there's a new name in town - Simple Energy. Their first electric scooter called One is nearing its final production stage. So, Abhilasha Singh goes to Simple's hometown Bengaluru to take a closer look.

These things are unimaginable in petrol scooter world... *The vendors don't even talk to newbie startups.*
They have done nothing. There are a hundred companies that say they have a scooter coming with so and so specs. When it's on the market that may be another story. This was posted a half year ago and nothing. I'll bet when summer of 2022 comes, one year later, it will still be unavailable.
And they couldn't make one yet. It's a scam, they just 3D printed some body panels and put it on an Ather .
Ather is a result of years of research and development. Trust Ather, they are the only brand whose batteries didn't explode

There are other genuine EV startups that are putting real efforts and products like Ather and Ola. We should support them not these scammers. And if it turn out to be a scam , then it's gonna ruin the image of whole of indian EV startups and in turn kill many genuine startups. So better be careful than sorry.
*Anybody here heard of a Ather user who has to take the scooter to his flat on the 5th floor in Bangalore?* All because his building management didn't allow him to put charging points on the exterior of building!!! 😂😂😂

This looks like a modified Ather with belt drive changed to chain drive. Did you do some research before telling this will be in market end of Sept 21? I'm bit sceptical!!!

What a investigation on number
Pre production models come with a random number or a used number.. Need not always be a new reg.
@@bipinmc123 pre production doesn't come with a number. Worst case they can have a special registration for road test like we see in test mules. RTO registers a vehicle only after it has been certified by govt authorities.
How do you charge the fixed battery?
Overall scooter is excellent with awesome features but need to know the service since its a new brand if some support is needed for troubleshooting...what do you think guys?
Registration number shown on touchscreen display KA51HP8772 belongs to an Ather 450 owned by an Simple one employee. The scooter shown is either an Ather dressed up like an Simple one or display from ather is being used here.

Test the scooter. Test how much it runs with a consumption of 5 or 10% battery power. Or just test it for at least 2% battery drain, and see how much it can cover. Come on, we need real time results !!

Exactly, neither simple one nor ola is doing such tests or making the scooters available for testing. 200 kms range for a scooter is highly doubted man, no matter whatever people say.
Simple ones claims are impossible to materialise. Their enite spec sheet was created just to out match Ola. 😂. 72NM torque and 236km range in that form factor! Any engineer related to this field will say this is just a scam at worst.
If it lives up to the hype will be considering this as it’s Namma blre based company, looks better then OLA.
Hi, you forget to explain about its a chain drive mechanism attached to the motor which leads to maintenance, changing of sprockets, vibration etc......
If it uses o ring sealed chain then i am happy to live with it. Actually chain are best, simple and more efficient, if simple one has provided normal chain then it will surely be a headache to keep adjusting chain tightness after every 500-700kms. Whereas o ring chain last 5000kms until it requires adjustment
@@sanapung321 Sir, with the advent of Kevlar belts now being used in motorcycles such as my Harley Trike, a 2016 Freewheeler, which is supposed to last for thousands of more miles than several chains are considered capable of lasting, best bet is to go with the new technology and say goodbye to chain.
I have twenty-two bikes of which three are shaft drive, (2) BMW's and a GoldWing, and the Harley with the belt drive while the rest are chain drive and eventually I intend to modify four or five to belt drive as I am selling off maybe fifteen this year to detail a '63 Ford Falcon Ranchero I've had for several years.
For those of you who are referring to the quality of the machine's build, don't judge a book by its cover, just because it looks nice standing still does not mean it is capable of doing anything once you turn the key and twist the throttle; and as for determining the amount of power available in the batteries, I'm sure a simple instrument can be installed to let the rider know how much electricity is available, or with enough requests from the general public the company will install one prior to it being made available to the consumer

Eg: if scooter battery is left with 50% charge, how we can identify which battery is drained out, the fixed battry is drained or portable one? If there is any such thing we can check on scooter to identify fixed battery is drained or portable one that can be helpful for the people to charge the portable one every time when they get a chance to charge to keep the charge of the scooter to 100%

Guys, many might stone me for this. Simple One is kinda scam. The bike they showed on release was an ather 450x. And lot of descripancies. No reviewer was allowed to ride the bike and only a walk around video. They say they will launch the bike by December but in reality, the bike is not even designed and they say they have to build a team of R&D. They don't have refund option of the Rs.1947 you have given to book. They said, they don't need investors initially and now they say they have investors who are helping them work. They delete all the previous twitter posts if they miss the deadline!
PS: Now they have the refund option!

I dont understand wat is the meaning of a launch events when there product is not ready, delivery date is expected but not exact. How many units and in which cities they are available? List of service centers, dealers. No information at all.
Tell me battery price and when we have we to change the battery (2 -3yrs) accordingly we would know yr expenses

It has 4.5 kw motor, and 3kwh battery, Hence battery should last for only about 40 minutes at full power. If that is the case how will it achieve the distance range it claims ?

There is a mad rush from manufacturers to build EV scooters. Ola & Simple One are examples, with hardly any testing they are straight away launching their products in the market. They have not even streamlined their production but have started accepting booking amount from gullible customers. Trial & testing would be done on such buyers who might have to face teething problems with these scooters. The biggest draw back today is there are hardly any charging stations to charge the scooter even in metro cities. Housing societies are yet not educated and disallow/discourage an EV buyer to put up a charging point in the society parking lot. The government has done little in terms of building a robust infrastructure for EV buyers as well as educating the general public the importance of EV in years to come. Today it's wise to wait for things to improve before jumping on the bandwagon.

Unlike Ather there is no subscription plan in Simple Energy and it is completely home grown (apart from battery pack). On other hand Ather depends on OEMs from outside India.
Not really! Ather doesnt have subscription. + Their battery are in built with all vehicle parts domestically distributed. Get your facts right.

Regarding their mid drive motor, Tarun himself stated in one of his interviews that they are sourcing from an undisclosed European partner. I am not sure what do you mean by battery in-built with all vehicle parts??? If you like Ather, that's your choice, it might not facilitate everyone's requirements. At least not my requirements
