      Be careful approaching his solo album, Adult Themes For Voice, though. That album consists completely of him making freakish, inhuman sounds with his voice and basically testing the extreme limits of what his voice can do. It’s like listening to a demon-possessed alien that’s half-cartoon who’s having a bad acid trip, and it can easily make someone have a nervous breakdown. I don’t know how anyone can handle listening to the whole thing. Listen to “Porno Holocaust,” and that will tell you all you need to know about what that album is like.

    Faith No More opened for Metallica and GNR at a triple threat show I had the privilege of attending in either 90 or 91. I liked FNM from watching this song and Falling To Pieces on MTV, but truth be told, I got the tickets because I was a bona fide GNR freak. Oh, man...saw Faith No More open for Billy Idol at the Irvine Meadows Pacific Amphitheater in October 1990, when this song first came out. They used to cover the Nestles commercial as a lead in to this song. The lights went out, and there was a lone sparkling spotlight shining up into the crowd. All soft and tender, then this song. It was unexpected and hilarious. Epic, even. It's easy to find on UA-cam.
    That was the tour after Billy Idol almost died in a motorcycle accident, and had kind of dropped put of sight. He came out on stage hobbling around with a cane. Halfway through the first song he "trips" and falls into a somersault, tumbling forward and landing on his feet, tossing his cane away off the stage. He wasn't hobbling at all! He starts running and jumping around the stage. Truly some epic showmen that night... Billy always, always puts on a great show.

Sure he chirps out high pig squeals but he can't sing clean, sustained high runs the way Mercy or Halford can. • @harleyjackson3708
      @harleyjackson3708 3 роки тому

      Agreed. To me that song is easily their best track and it's owed almost entirely to the way Chuck was singing it at the time. I remember a rap rock song was a rarity back then. And the only two songs people seem to remember in that genre are We Care A Lot and that Run DMC cover of Walk This Way.

    • @crescentfreshbret
      @crescentfreshbret 3 роки тому

      @@harleyjackson3708 Yeah, Mike is obviously a far better vocalist (which, of course, is an understatement, since he’s a better vocalist than the majority of people on the planet), but Chuck definitely deserves more credit. He had a unique style and brought a great presence to the band.

    • @harleyjackson3708
      @harleyjackson3708 3 роки тому

      @@crescentfreshbret It's the unique way his voice sounds. It's almost a "stuffy nose" quality but somehow he pulled it right the fuck off. To be honest even though Mike is better tonally I still prefer Chuck. It's the same way between Ozzy's Sabbath Vs. Dio's Sabbath. Dio sings better, but people didn't really care about his Sabbath years because Dio did better on his own and Ozzy is almost what made Black Sabbath. Vince Niel's voice has suffered but he's going through recovery for the next tour which I wish him luck to because I'll never picture a Motley Crue without him even today (I'm going to the tour).
