@The Shaniac Yup, I know one girl who was born and mostly raised in Africa (I don't remember what country, I'm bad with names) but later she moved here, she is white and she speaks English with a very heavy accent and she is registered in the school as an African-American which is completely true and accurate, yet she is called racist by white girl brats and get black people mocking her and calling her a liar even though the black people themselves are not ACTUALLY African-American ._.
@@dubiousbookpublishing4410 It was around in the 90's, but it was nowhere near "mainstream" as it is now. I was in grade school and middle school in the 90's, and I distinctly remember the teachers stressing multiculturalism. I picked Spain. So that meant I had to go to the library, research Spain, get clothes (my grandma helped out with sewing) and I came in a bullfighting costume. I thought it was a really fun project. But just IMAGINE if that happened today....Twitter would spontaneously combust and TikTokers would have aneurysms screaming "cultural appropriation."
@@caomhan84 Oh absolutely. I had the same school thing in fifth grade, I represented Germany. It was only mainstream in the sense that MTV played it pretty much hourly when it hit. There really wasn't such a thing as mainstream in the late 80's, early 90's. We watched 120 minutes on MTV and bought car stereos with cassette decks because we didn't listen to the radio. Have you ever heard of Mudhoney? They're the reason Kurt Kobain tried out for Nirvana but slowly it all started getting radio play (at least in ATL) & captured a wider audience towards the late nineties. PJ Harvey was getting radio play in 95. Snoop's Gin & Juice got hourly play on the radio in 92-93. Megadeath around the same time. Music was just everything then. It was all good. What happened?

Snow is Canadian (as am I) and I remember when this song came out. It was a HUGE hit. He grew up in Toronto and those in his neighobourhood were all from the islands (specifically Jamaica) so it's in his blood. The song is about “Informer” basically as an insult against those who he claimed “snitched on” him, which led to him doing an eight-month bid in the maximum-security Toronto East Detention Center. Owing to this, the hook of the track is based on Snow physically threatening the “informer” who got him locked down.

Summer of 1992. It was big on New York City radio and was a must as a mobile dj. It's from his album titled "!2 Inches Of Snow" . During that time it seemed like there were many white rappers jumping on the scene. Snow, House of Pain, Lordz of Brooklyn, 3Rd Bass, Kid Rock, Vanilla Ice, and so on. I do think the music of the late 20th century was better than it is today. Great video. Thanks for posting.

OMG yeah 😂😂😂💓👍
Haha! Look up the lyrics it’s not about what you think at all. He’s Canadian grew up with Jamaicans in Toronto. and this really was FIRE back then.
"Informer" exploded on the Billboard charts while he was incarcerated. Snow said “'A licky boom-boom down' means, like, I'll hit down the informer; I'll knock the informer out” :)
He almost guessed it right just from hearing this song once.
I thought it was about eating booty and someone told on him.
Nice google search
@@BOOGiNS you can tell what he's talking about if you actually listen to the lyrics. You ain't have to Google search it, what do you think an informer is, a police informant duh SMH. Snitches get stitches!!
To lick something down is to strike or shoot something down. Old Jamaican slang
Finally, someone commenting who actually knows what the song and hook (I lick ya boom boom down) actually refer to.
Expectation: Must be Jamaican
Reality: Steve from Finance
LOL
Gave me a serious LOL with that one, thanks!

This guy actually had a little street cred. More than vanilla ice, lol
He went to jail for murder and didn't snitch on his boy who actually did it, his boy later confessed and he got set free. He doesn't like snitches
Vanilla Ice turning out to be a poseur impacted Snow's career by association.

I think Murder Love and Justuss are better than his debut, I have all of his albums, he was big in the Caribbean and West Indies. Lady with the red dress on is that track though 🔥🔥🔥 and Lonely Monday Morning is basically the dancehall version of Informer, and the better version I might add.
@@cartoonworld1000 hmmm... his other Albums weren't promoted in Germany. But i will check them out 👌 stay healthy 🙌
You think the track blew your mind!? Check this - Snow is actually born and raised Canadian! :D Even more so, his name is a backronym "Superb Notorious Outrageous Whiteboy", coined by his DJ :D
I love how you respond to your viewers! I love watching your priceless reactions even more! Thank you for the smiles and giggles this morning 💕
I have to respond see what everyone interest are 🙂🙂 hope u have a great day love the name lol
I really don't know why he didn't go further. He was awesome
Because the Jamaican phase ended quicker than he realized and people got sick of it.
@@deepupstrandedcreek9979 I cant find evidence of that but he was serving 8 months for attempted murder when thus song was released and charted.
@@iamperplexed4695 and none of his other songs were this catchy
@@deepupstrandedcreek9979 He's still alive and kicking in Canuckistan
Dance hall was big in the early to mid 90s then faded out just as quick
Now you know why I, a black Jamaican, used to rock this nonstop when it first came out back in the day.
Holy fuck buddy.. I’m 56 years old.. came home higher than the witch doctor on Gilligans Island one night and saw this on MTV( they used to play music) .. my reaction was much like yours.. hahahaha
That's the best comment ever! 😂
About the time they had Beavis and butthead too. Holy fuck buddy. Good days
I just decided that I’m going to start pointing at everything with a lit stick lighter. 👉🔥
It's a great way to get someone's attention. Whether you're lighting candles, or a grill, people tend to pay attention to you. I highly recommend it!
OMG 😂😂😂
My favorite part of the video.
This is one of the funniest reactions I've seen. I'm dying 😂😂😂 Omg I'm going to rewatch this when I'm feeling down. The energy you put into this.👍
He said “born and raised in Etobicoke.” And something about being accused of stabbing someone down the lane. I don’t speak Patois though.
