That was when the video dropped. Before that, everybody was on this shit.
They weren't ready! Lol

It was a song and artist from another dimension at the time.
The awkward moment when you realize the lyrics are about being accused of a crime you didn’t commit, being arrested and having the cops look up your ass when they search you.
The 90s had some bangers.
Huh?

Well, its about being snitched on, Snow did stab a guy...

A licky boom-boom down' means, like, I'll hit down the informer; I'll knock the informer out, I'll take the informer out... Snow did time for attempted murder... I'm just saying, he is speaking from experience
It means he gonna finish dude off “licky boom boom down”. I’m white but my wife be from Jamaica mon. My brother in law is a reggae artist.

The lyrics to this song really are wild.

Yes, the great 90's! 🎉

Hey......you are ABSOLUTELY correct!!!! Leo (Mr. Video) is my favorite too!!! I watch other reactors for scary vids... but for music and movies, Mr. Video can't be beat!!!! Just imagine, I grew up listening to these kind of songs back in 90’S in INDIA, with what material we could get at that time. If you can enjoy this song now, how much we would have enjoyed without knowing the proper lyrics and google was non existent. Oh, just amazing songs back in those days

Thanks for reminding me how old I am. Graduated HS in 92.
Oohhh weee i was 14....those 90's were fantastic music wise.
I was 7 and was like aliki bum bum dooown
Oh sh...30 years...realisation just hit me hard 😵💫
When this song dropped, he saw it for the first time from prison, no lie.
For those wondering, this song came out in 1992 and he wrote it about how he was charged with 2 attempted murders in I believe 1989..he was eventually found not guilty. Apparently this video came out while he was still waiting it out in prison and the place went nuts.
In any case, you had the ABSOLUTE best reaction to this song I've yet to see....🤣
I remember (vaguely, I was 8 or 9) when this came out. Lived in a borough of TO, and someone in my school claimed Snow was her uncle or cousin or something. Nothing like a bit of 9 year old street cred.

Snow is living proof that cultural immersion is the way to go
@The Shaniac Yup, I know one girl who was born and mostly raised in Africa (I don't remember what country, I'm bad with names) but later she moved here, she is white and she speaks English with a very heavy accent and she is registered in the school as an African-American which is completely true and accurate, yet she is called racist by white girl brats and get black people mocking her and calling her a liar even though the black people themselves are not ACTUALLY African-American ._.
In the 90's there was no such thing. Generation X is one of the greatest generations because if you could do it, you did it. We supported each other.
@@dubiousbookpublishing4410 It was around in the 90's, but it was nowhere near "mainstream" as it is now. I was in grade school and middle school in the 90's, and I distinctly remember the teachers stressing multiculturalism. Hell, in 4th grade (1994) I remember one teacher giving us a project where every kid in the class picked a country out of a hat and we had to come to class the next week dressed up in that country's traditional clothes and talk about it. I picked Spain. So that meant I had to go to the library, research Spain, get clothes (my grandma helped out with sewing) and I came in a bullfighting costume. I thought it was a really fun project. But just IMAGINE if that happened today....Twitter would spontaneously combust and TikTokers would have aneurysms screaming "cultural appropriation."
@@caomhan84 Oh absolutely. I had the same school thing in fifth grade, I represented Germany. It was only mainstream in the sense that MTV played it pretty much hourly when it hit. There really wasn't such a thing as mainstream in the late 80's, early 90's. We watched 120 minutes on MTV and bought car stereos with cassette decks because we didn't listen to the radio. Have you ever heard of Mudhoney? They're the reason Kurt Kobain tried out for Nirvana but slowly it all started getting radio play (at least in ATL) & captured a wider audience towards the late nineties. PJ Harvey was getting radio play in 95. Snoop's Gin & Juice got hourly play on the radio in 92-93. Megadeath around the same time. Music was just everything then. It was all good. What happened?

Snow is Canadian (as am I) and I remember when this song came out. It was a HUGE hit. He grew up in Toronto and those in his neighobourhood were all from the islands (specifically Jamaica) so it's in his blood. The song is about “Informer” basically as an insult against those who he claimed “snitched on” him, which led to him doing an eight-month bid in the maximum-security Toronto East Detention Center. Owing to this, the hook of the track is based on Snow physically threatening the “informer” who got him locked down.
Finally, someone commenting who actually knows what the song and hook (I lick ya boom boom down) actually refer to.

And to have the man HIMSELF, comment!?! That's pretty f'ing awesome too.
"Informer" exploded on the Billboard charts while he was incarcerated. Snow said “'A licky boom-boom down' means, like, I'll hit down the informer; I'll knock the informer out” :)
He almost guessed it right just from hearing this song once.
I thought it was about eating booty and someone told on him.
Nice google search
@@BOOGiNS you can tell what he's talking about if you actually listen to the lyrics. You ain't have to Google search it, what do you think an informer is, a police informant duh SMH. Snitches get stitches!!
To lick something down is to strike or shoot something down. Old Jamaican slang
"In a '93 documentary, Snow says the line implies fisticuffs-“'A licky boom-boom down' means, like, I'll hit down the informer; I'll knock the informer out”-yet the music video's pantomimed gunshots suggest something more lethal."

Summer of 1992. It was big on New York City radio and was a must as a mobile dj. It's from his album titled "!2 Inches Of Snow" .
