BBC funding will come from (increased) general taxation instead of the license fee. We can opt out of having to pay the license fee. We won't be able to opt out of having to pay increased tax.
You seem a bit naive, sadly. As the other guy said, if licence money stops flowing, odds are that it will just be 100% tax funded, as other countries already have done.

Never in history has a government been so out of touch with the people it should be serving. WOW. The trouble is, the opposition are too and could be even worse - if that's possible!
The thing that bothers me the most about the licence fee is the outright bullying you receive once you cancel. I don't watch broadcast TV or the iPlayer so I don't pay a licence, I don't need one. But I then get regular reminders from them that "it is a criminal offence if I do watch without a licence". Why are they allowed to get away with that? I'm not a criminal. I don't get letters from Ford reminding me that it's a criminal offence if I break the speed limit. I don't get letters from Tesco reminding me that it's a criminal offence to shoplift. Ford and Tesco recognise that most people are not criminals, but the BBC assume that everyone with no licence is a criminal. Surely that's defamation?
It's because we are funding "their" organised crime rings constantly, they don't like "criminals" because what they really fear is everyone thinking and operating outside of their well funded rings of crime...they can't be having that..therefore you are branded a criminal for not conforming...the whole country is ran by criminals but because they are at the top they are allowed to get away with it.
"I don't get letters from Ford reminding me that it's a criminal offence if I break the speed limit" ....... 😑 Are you suffering from a brain injury?! 🙃 Ford doesn't control the speed limit, police it or receive money from the fines paid when you are caught breaking it, nor prosecute you for public endangerment to the point of deducting points from your driving license (or taking the license away if you are a repeat offender). The govmt do all of that. The closest contextual comparison to TV licensing would be "I don't get letters from Ford reminding me that it's a criminal offense if I take a Ford vehicle from a dealership without paying for it". The difference being it takes almost zero effort to plug your TV into the terrestrial UHF aerial on basically every British roof and start receiving DVB-T signals from the local transmitter masts. There is somewhat more effort required, and it is vastly easier to be caught thieving an entire vehicle from a dealership. Your commentary is practically a textbook definition of bad faith arguments 😒

it needs to rise because the money is going to more shows made 'with' Disney. But Disney have no money. They lost somewhere between $500,000,000 and $750,000,000 just in 2023. So they're going to bankrupt and the British public are being used to keep them afloat by making shows ''with' the BBC.
any party that says and does cancel the licence will gain most supporters, if you want to watch the woke bbc then use a subcription system, people should have a legal right to choose how they spend their money.
The licence fee is 44p a day. There were 67.33 million people in the UK in 2021. If only half of those people purchased a licence, then the BBC would be raking in 29,625,200 per DAY! You do realise that BBC does more programming than that crap right?
I don't watch everything on the BBC, but one thing I know they do well is period pieces like Wolf Hall, or Jonathan Strange and Mr Norrell.
Or all the Attenborough narrated nature documentaries which are so good even the American studios started to sit up and take notice because they long since stopped trying with National Geographic and the Discovery channel in favor of easy money.
TV programming will always be full of crap like reality TV and soaps because it's easy and cheap to create, but there's a lot more besides that to enjoy if you give it a chance 😐
@@mnomadvfx thanks for you insight, maybe you should reread what I wrote, the reason we quit watching TV had nothing to do with reality TV, celebrities or soap opera's, I just don't miss them.

Not the BBC, but the licensing does have to go

The ONLY way the people can affect real change is by exercising your human right to take DIRECT part in the governing of your country.

You are absolutely right Jon, why do we pay for the BBC ????? Times have moved on with the introduction of many TV channels from differing companies that DO support themselves. BBC pull your finger out and do the decent thing, abolish the TV licence and stand on your own . . .
The investment in the licence feed produces around 6£ for every 1 put in back to the treasury. It's created a media ecosystem where companies get BBC contracts then expand their programming for all round the world.
If it wasn't there it would reduce Treasury tax takings by around 10 billion
It's also priceless in the service it provides for schools and Universities + is now the only source of local radio where the alternative is hits 24

"I don't get letters from Ford reminding me that it's a criminal offence if I break the speed limit"
....... 😑
Are you suffering from a brain injury?! 🙃
Ford doesn't control the speed limit, police it or receive money from the fines paid when you are caught breaking it, nor prosecute you for public endangerment to the point of deducting points from your driving license (or taking the license away if you are a repeat offender).
