    I don't know why, but I always love it when my favorite UA-camrs get their families involved in the channel. It's always so fun to watch the interaction with parents and siblings and children. This looked like a really fun bonding time with your brothers. And I love everyone's names! Your parents had some imagination. Sorry, Macky, but I think Boden wins this one. His name is the coolest (not that it's a competition) 😉

    When Bo crashed, it's because he was trying to lift the front end by pulling up on the handlebars with his arms (notice his elbows are bent). That actually moves your chest down and center of mass forward, causing the front wheel to drop. When "holding the front end up" on the drop, you should be doing it by moving your hips backwards, and your elbows stay straight. Just like good manual technique.

    • @zeeede
      @zeeede 4 роки тому

      The "pop a little harder" that Mackie is talking about is a shift down (to compress the suspension) then straight back (not up) in the hips. It's all in the hips.

    • @zeeede
      @zeeede 4 роки тому +1

      Rem's crash, he's compressing on takeoff but popping his hips up, not back.

    • @richdrewtherideseries
      @richdrewtherideseries 4 роки тому +1

      Just my take on this, but a "good manual technique" is an advanced maneuver and these drops are beginner/intermediate. When he crashed on that 3-4 footer it was because his weight was back when he landed. When there's no need to go up or out in a drop scenario, why do it?

    I'd say one of the points of failure was that neither of Macky's brothers learned how to execute a front wheel lift like Macky does on 12:00. They more or less only did small English bunnyhops to try to get off of the end of the drops 15:05. If they cleaned up their technique on the smaller drops earlier they probably would have had cleaner landings on the following drops.

    I think the ideal thing would have been to practice a super slow trials drop off a curb first. Showing that not only can you drop things going very slow/not moving at all but it's very important to get that front wheel up and keep it up until the rear comes off. The first drops they did were awful, Bo's nose dive and Remy just jumping using his clips. The train looked good but I think you guys coulda saved them a little pain had you gone over techniques and basics before moving on. I guess that's some of the benefits of riding Enduro over XC! ;P Just kidding cheers y'all.

    Lifting front wheel on drops is a bad technique. You will get nose heavy and crash. Proper technique is pushing the bike forward when your frontwheel is about to drop and going back at the center of the bike after the rear wheel passes the drop.

    • @sydandmacky
      @sydandmacky  4 роки тому +6

      Yes, that is correct technique for certain drops at certain speeds, but not for every drop at every speed.

    • @sydandmacky
      @sydandmacky  4 роки тому +2

      I may have misspoken. It's less pulling up on the bars and more compressing hard and leaning back, while also pulling in the bars. I'd say "pulling on the bars" is fairly accurate but "lifting the bars" is wrong. It's also worth noting that just because a channel is bigger doesn't necessarily mean they are more knowledgeable 😉

    • @sydandmacky
      @sydandmacky  4 роки тому +1

      We aren't generally fans of towing people in because we believe people should learn to access features themselves and decide if they can do them in their own. Towing people in tends to lead to bad crashes or people getting a false sense of their abilities which leads to even worse crashes later. There are exceptions, but it's generally when a feature (usually jumps) is big enough that you can't see the landing as you're hitting it and you have someone with a similar skill level who knows the correct speed to hit it at.

  • @Hardcaslte
    @Hardcaslte 4 роки тому

    Dude the shakey cam is an instant close the browser window. I know you don't have like 5 gopro 8 cameras, but as soon as I see a shakey camera I immediately shut off the video before I get sick. That even goes for the parts where they're holding it in their hands filming each other, it's like instant nausea. Maybe I'm in the minority, but just food for thought on future videos that there are plenty of people that can't watch videos like this.

    • @IBCMTB
      @IBCMTB 4 роки тому +1

      So... are they supposed to do no POV footage at all? Run a gimbal all the time for for all riders? Neither option is really doable or acceptable. It's not like it's overly shakey either, H7 and H8 are leaps and bounds ahead of previous gen GoPros.

    • @Hardcaslte
      @Hardcaslte 4 роки тому

      @@IBCMTB No, but if you have 2 good cameras then use those cameras to film the entire thing. You don't see channels like Seth's, BKXC, STS, etc., using crappy unstable cameras. They take the extra time to film everything with good equipment. If that means you have to stop more to film the other riders, then that's what you do. They all talk about how much work and time it takes to film the rides because they have to stop and film, then keep riding, etc. If the only extra cameras you have are old unstable cameras, don't put cameras on them. When they get to the drops which is what this whole video is about, you stop and you film them on a good camera doing the drops.
      All I'm saying is that footage like this is an instant close for me and people like me. Like it's physically unwatchable, and there are ways to do it so you don't have headache inducing footage like this.

    • @sydandmacky
      @sydandmacky  4 роки тому +7

      @Hardcaslte all of our cameras have stabilization so I'm not sure what it is you're talking about. No, we don't use gimbals when riding and are never going to. Gimbals make sense if you aren't racing or riding super aggressively and if you don't mind constantly fussing with them, but we do race and ride seriously so they don't make sense for us. If you don't like the vlog-style handheld camera, this isn't a good channel for you, which is totally fine.

    • @Hardcaslte
      @Hardcaslte 4 роки тому

      @@sydandmacky Look at 6:55 and 7:05 this is what I'm talking about. As soon as I saw the camera doing that I was like nope, this isn't going to work for me. I skipped around in the video thinking maybe it was just that part but it seems like their cameras are doing it, maybe the way they had their cameras mounted wasn't working well, I don't know. I've watched other videos of yours and don't get this sensation so much with the camera shaking and vibrating so hard, maybe I just happened to get lucky on all of the videos I've seen previously. I can't find the hand held part that seemed harsh to me the other night, maybe I already had a headache going on so everything seemed worse. Yeah most of the hand held stuff where you're standing and filming them is normal, but I feel like I had clicked on a certain one unluckily and it was shaking the way the person was holding it and walking around or something.
      To be fair I was just watching a Jesse Melamed video where he was studying a course and it was fine until he stopped and started looking left and right over and over again and I had to X out of that one too, but his racing videos are perfectly fine because he's just looking straight and his camera is super stable on his helmet even over super rough courses. Sometimes it's just all in the framing of the camera and what's going on with it.
      Anyway, I'm just saying as a non-UA-camr that watches an excessive amount of UA-cam videos, that kind of shaking camera like that effects some people. If you want to take that as constructive criticism or not it's your channel, not mine. I'm just some random dude watching videos on here.
