Appleyard is the man. Recklessly chill. Canadian. Nollie heel champion. What more do you need?
Nothing more u said everyting 😂
Everything said…Amen
@@Lilfauntleroyswampson1121 his third eye is open, unlike yours
Recklessly chill sums him up perfectly
The whole flip team from that era were so sick
This is one of the best video parts of all time... Mark Appleyard, what a boss.
I just said almost the same thing to myself lol
This breakdown fucking sucks
There was a few in Sorry. Arto Saari, Tom Petty, Ali Boulala.
Check out Ali Boulalas episode of Epicly Later'd. Pretty heavy stuff
this part was iconic and introduced me to Placebo who ended up being one of my favorite bands because of it.
nice! i was already a big placebo fan and i was BEYOND hyped to hear them in skate video. still one of my favourite parts ever.
Same
I wish he would have at least mentioned the song and maybe why he chose it, really made the part that much better
@@SugarJRay I think he’s mentioned it before that he wasn’t the biggest fan of the song.
@@fortunesk89 Yeah it was picked for him! Which is very strange - but it works damn well at the end of the day
Never would have expected for Appleyard to be still in the game after all these years. He's outlasted 2 or 3 generations of pro skateboarding cycles at this point. A very fulfilling career that most pros would only dream of. Congratulations Mark!
Wow this was 4 days ago?! I just watch Sorry again for the first time in years. Appleyard was always my favorite skater growing up after watching Sorry. He has this supernatural ability to absorb shock and momentum to make everything he does look fluid and easy. His part in Sorry was like poetry in motion I think.
A true masterpiece of entire skateboarding scene, straight up
I'll always love that perfect kickflip he does over the rail in his really sorry part
You can hear the nostalgia in Appleyard's voice when he's talking about the spots. The late early 2000's had a stacked Flip team. Awesome video.
The golden age of skateboarding. Appleyard is effortless and amazing in his skating! Great memories from this part 👏🏻
this brings back so many memories, he actually signed my board in 2005 during pro skate 2005 event in finland, good times!
I wouldn't have skated on that deck, would have framed it and put it on my wall
I feel that you can hear sadness in his voice. Time catches us all.
It’s the nostalgia. Times change. Happy where you are, yet sad those old memories are over. It was such a different era.
Love these videos, don’t worry about videos being too long, I’d like if you paused and let them talk about each trick, so much behind the scenes stuff they can break down when they have the time. Keep ‘em coming
The Jeremy Wray one is long and really good. Lots of specific stories.
This video part changed my life
I started skating in January 2000' This video part will always hold a special place with me. This is what I consider the "golden era" years. ✊🤙
Early to mid 00's were defintely golden!
🎶Every me and every you🎶... Maaaan, this takes me back. Me and my buddies used to watch the shit outta this
This was it. I grew up on this part, this was my go to part to warm me up to go skate!
This was the very first part in a skating video I ever saw as a kid, when I was first starting out skating myself. I absolutely love this section and this video! Nostalgia isn't even a strong enough word, and just seeing this video pop on my feed has already made my day
Right? Dude I was like, 12 or 13. Poor. Downloaded this, the DC video, dying to live and mosaic on Limewire. My buddy had a huge basement that we basically built a dope little park in for the cold winter and scorching summer. We would watch this video and have random sessions at like 2 a.m
Same here. Had that on VHS, and it got me so stoked to skate. I didn't realize until my 20s the significance of John Lydon shitting on every before their parts lol.
@@user-js9in4lr3e Yeah man I feel that. I still have that old yellow VHS tape, although it no longer works. My friends and I thought Johnny Rotten was so funny and entertaining in it as kids, but also had no idea what the significance of it was until later in life lol
@@jeremylamovsky3669 Awesome collection of videos, those. Makes me wonder how many other childhoods were fueled by these videos during this era of skateboarding. Incredible memories
GOATed video. I messaged Fred on UA-cam years ago and I posted my VHS copy to him to sign it; he signed it and posted it back to me with some prints of his skate photos all for free. Legend!
Apple's part in Really Sorry blew my mind.
Flip Sorry was one of my first skate videos and remains a favorite. Appleyard is so smooth and rad. love his part and he seems like a cool dude. looove this old Flip team, especially Rowley and Apples.
And Arto, bastien, penny. They seriously had the best group back then.
Favorite skater for over 20yrs man, since I.E., guys a legend and the best dude. 🎉🎉
I’ll cherish this part forever..the amount of memories this comes with being a skate rat back then ❤
Man 17YO me was so hyped on this video but his part specifically. True style God. Crazy how young everyone looks back then now that we’re all old lol.
This part is still a stand out to this day. Perfect style and getting buck and setting an example 20 years later. Legendary.
meh, its ok for the time but its not all that in 2023
@@tyrone-dh6iy tell me this part doesn’t make you wanna go out and skate. Cuz that’s a part that stands out to me. A part that makes me wanna skate. Not many skaters today do that for me. Just makes me wanna quit
@@cheothegeo2742 if you can't keep up with the elite, just go do something else. I'm in competition only with the very best. This part is as i said ok, but it doesn't get my juices flowing
@@tyrone-dh6iy you must be a zoomer
@@tyrone-dh6iy it was actually a break out part and it's still holding up strong 2 decades later. Go see how big that 4 block is at MACBA to understand that nollie back heel. So many clips on here still crazy to this day looking effortless.
Classic. Love all the flip videos.
Always enjoyed Mark’s style and his ‘Sorry’ part is awesome !
Classic !
Half asleep at the wheel watching this just like he is on a skateboard. Suuuuuuper chilled.
This part is still dope to this day. Still one of my favorite skaters Appleyard. No one had the steez like you back in the day.
THIS IS GREAT!!!!!!! The dudes open up more and more as they go, so let's keep this shit flowing!
Funny, I just re-watched this part the other day before skating. Still so good! Music is awesome too.
i still remember sitting at the lunch table with the homies singing "every me and every you!!" gettin hyped for the after school session lol ...we all wanted the apple steeze back then ... his shoes when he rode for circa were some of my favorites ever too
Still my favorite part of all time. I went on to listen to Placebo regularly because of this part.
Love Mark so much man heard of him from Skate 2 and always watched his parts late 2000’s into 2010’s. Such a treat to see him talk about this part years later
That video part reminds me of better days in both the skate world and the regular world..
I had all of his Globes growing up and they helped me achieve perfect heelflips ! He will be one of my favorite pros forever ❤
His Circas were unbelievable. Wish I could find a pair. Es makes the last good shoes now.
Dude I was smiling through this whole thing marks hilarious and chill as hell. I grew up with sorry and really sorry. So much nostalgia and great memories shredding after getting hyped up watching the flip videos
One of the best and nostalgic parts ever! This was one of the first skate videos I watched and the moment I started to listen to Placebo. Visited their concert first time in my life last year, since I moved from Russia to Germany, What a journey!
I probably watched this part well over 100 times
I love how on the nollie flip to 50-50 he's like "I don't know how I did that" when the rest of us saw that and thought the same thing lol Nollie flips to 50-50s on stuff like that was unimaginable back then.
Still is
one of my favorite parts and videos ever. Still love the music of it so much too.
Can't wait to get off work and watch this. This video was so well edited, filmed and of coarse the skating.
Whats wild is that I had this DVD back when I was like 7 or 8, and I remember always liking Marks part, and is actually how I found out about the band placebo, To see him speaking of his recollection of his part is something I never thought I would ever see all the years ago.
What a boss, thank you for this video! Don't know how many times I watched this video, vhs was completely wrecked from overuse in the end. What a video for getting pumped to go and skate
Loved those early Flip decks. Sickest graphics
The gap to back lip that he talked about having to overcome, that’s my local post office I go by once a week. I can’t stress enough how big and crazy that spot is. That back lip was soooo heavy, even for today.
i never comment on videos but damn, i had appleyards part memorized when i was a little skate rat. seriously my favourite part, to this day i remember every trick and still bang placebo's track! i miss those days.
Mark is just so full of himself.... j.k. dude is so humble! 💯
One of the first videos I owned. Still my favorite. I swear I have the tricks and the music completely memorized. Love these retrospectives.
Nostalgic overload, such an amazing part
Mark the legend
This was awesome look forward to more.
Best EVER video rewind-review, Apps has so much energy and I can tell he appreciated his youth and lived it to the fullest 💪💪💪
This part was my first part ever that ive seen , instant blown away ,then arto saari, those two are my all time favourites ❤
I’ve always been blown away by this part, good to know that the guy who did it it’s also speechless when talking about it.
Dude is humble man, seems chill af
This is my favourite part of all time, I watched this almost everyday when I was a kid...
Got that Sorry video from the local skate shop when it came out on VHS and we watched it non-stop back in the day. Thanks Mark!
I remember I had the skateboard magazine of him. He won skater of the year . He
Is one of the best.
So legendary part, straight skatrboarding history. How much inspiration these gived to us young skaters. Back then you could feel skateboarding culture was really special and magical. Golden era
love this man!!!!
This part was my go to for skating inspiration. Legend!
Excited for you guys to have more time to make videos like this
Mark Appleyard is so fucking cool, dude.
I met Appleyard during 2021 Tampa Pro at The Bricks in Ybor. He was outside in the back ripping a cig with a buddy. I nervously went up to him and told him he’s my top skate ever. He was really appreciate and I apologized for bothering him and asked for a quick picture. He put his cig down to take the pic and gave me a great one. After I nervously said thanks and walked away but I could tell he would’ve kept chatting w me. Appleyard is THE MAN
Yes. Been wanting this since im 15.
Hahaha for real
I just noticed that of all the tricks he did on the gap out to down rail at the el Toro post office, he did the easiest one with the worst style: the frontside boardslide. For some reason, I had it in my head that he did it super smooth, but I guess that would be a kinda hard trick to make it look good on that obstacle.
Regardless, when he went back in his next part he did an absolutely immaculate backside lipslide. Not only did it look beautiful, but that was probably the most gnarly trick possible on that thing. You know it’s gnarly because Daniel Harold Sturt took a photo of it, and he literally told Jamie Thomas and Geoff Rowley not to call him for a photo unless there was a possibility of them dying on the trick. Nice guy.
hilarious commentary, I always liked Mark - dude has serious rizz
One of the best parts of all time. Dudes style is insane. Still never understood why the Sorry VHS was yellow lol
This is my all time favourite video part.
Watched it relentlessly when I was 12 and it came out. Went out and bought his Thunder Appleyard III trucks with the grenades on them as well, then straight up copied the Placebo music on an edit I made with mates.
As an old head skater, thank you. Don’t keep up too much with new skaters but man I love apples
Fantastic! Appleyard chill ASF! 😁Best style.
I remember wanting his globe appleyard pro model skate shoes back in the day, just a whole ah legend
Applebutters , this part is one of my all time favorites, thanks nine club for getting Mark to review the part!
Can’t believe they didn’t ask about the music. That song rules and worked perfectly
Amazing style!
Legendary part, one of the all time favourites! Apples is the man
Appleyard is one of my favorites. They say don't meet your heroes. Plz skate soon 😢
This is my all-time favorite video part!
Such a legendary part 🙌🏻
first skate video i ever had the pleasure of viewing. Changed my life. FUCK YES!
My first skate video I ever owned!!! I would watch this religiously and still do to this day!!!
I hope these style vids continue.
I went to the sorry premier in Hollywood… was standing next to Evan Hernandez and Knox lol ..
One of my favorite skate parts ever still is
Skated with him at OC Ramps a couple times. Super chill and down to earth.
I'm glad he started it over and went clip by clip. I watched this shit religiously as a kid.
LEGEND MARK APPLEYARD🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Keep these coming
Definitely one of my favorite parts of all time
Sick!!! This dude, that whole team and video were the best ever besides girl and chocolate. Then yeah right! came out the year after, at least I grew up in that era. It was the best times.
He was my favorite skater growing up. Double tongued Appleyard Circas where the staple for years. Don’t know if it was just cause I grew up in Canada but my whole crew and what felt like every skater in the city all wanted to be Appleyard. Placebo on repeat in the discman and learning Nollie into everything
All time favourite part ... All time favourite skater
Mark Appleyard skating over the ledge on day and night of transferring to frontside crooked and making the best part of a classic spot.
Hells yeah!!!
Best style ever
You guys were my idols. The FLiP team man 🙏🙏🙏🙏
I’ve bought over 50 flip decks skated them till they broke sent my body down stairs into walls into cars absolutely wrecked my knees ankles and wrists. And the flip team was the best. You Rune Geoff Arto and Penny. That was my 90’s.
Unintentionally hilarious
I was 16, when "Sorry" came out. I remember going over to the homie's house and him having it. We got us two bowls of orange swirl ice cream and we watched it and got super hyped to go skate, that day. My homie was something else, at 18 he was nollie backside flipping 10 sets in Detroit for a hot lunch. Oh, what I'd give to go back for just a little while and be young, again...
Timeless video and a killer part from Apples
