Deejay has the voice of an angel. And Geoff 's bass line here is like being wrapped in a warm blanket. With Layne's impeccable percussion and beautiful harmonies from Cesar and Eli, this is a joy to listen to (and sing along with). Feels like a summer day in childhood.
Too true!
I love this group! First time hearing them.
@@Jadon_WYSE so glad you found them! Definitely dive down their archives. They have genres for everyone and always produce top quality work. I recommend Tennessee Whiskey, Golden Hour, and Moana to start. Of course, if you are up for a totally different genre, their latest two, Valhalla Calling and Seven Nation Army, are mind blowing.
Their bass, Geoff Castellucci also does solo work on his own channel that is beautiful and fun. Try Ain't No Sunshine or Sound of Silence. And for fun, Way Down
I’m an old fart and grew up with The Beach Boys, being a big fan of theirs as a kid. This cover is just UNBELIEVABLE. Great job VoicePlay.
This song is like a soothing balm to the soul
What about this: How do you Sleep by Sam Smith, collaborate with Adam Chance from Home Free to take full lead, high harmony by: Eil Jacobson and Cesar de la Rosa, Geoff will used mixed of growl and subharmonic end of growl with reached chest for the bassline.
A full body and soul massage
If I am stressed, I'm going to listen to this because it took me down a level of anxiety just listening to it. 😊
The guys did all my favorite things in this one... Layne sang a solo part, Geoff sang in his higher register, Eli, Deejay, and Cesar all got to solo and they had lots of fun runs and trills. Just a perfect version of the song!
( MUST DO, Voiceplay) what about this: Goodbye by Slipknot, collaborate with Scott Hyoing from Penatatonix to take full lead, will used forceful with darkest rustic and raspy but with engage core with mixed of some lower and mostly higher register, high harmony by: Eil Jacobson and Cesar de la Rosa, Geoff will experiment new bass register in this song request, it called subharmonic growl with different depth for the bassline.
You arranged the song to embody the coziness and comforting feeling of having a safe own room and you perfectly performed it! I love the body percussion bits, Layne's singing and 1:49, Eli throughout but specially 1:06, Cesars emotions 2:04, Deejay's soft riffs 3:04 and Geoffs higher part melting into lower notes 2:20 - and how perfect is the 'now it's dark' moment 1:36
And the harmonies - the HARMONIES!
I love how you included personal stuff in the room and the LIGHTS!
I came here to say this; love how really great musicians can find the core beauty of a song and really bring it forward for the audience. Thank you guys!
I listen Eli part again and again. His voice .. he is so great 🤭🤭
You nailed it!
A calm atmosphere
@@charliemetheany If Brian Wilson, who wrote the song, ever hears this version of it, I think he will be very happy indeed.
Analysis Things:
- Deejay's voice is perfect for this song. It’s soft and tender when he needs to be but powerful and riffing all over the place when the energy of the song builds
- The lighting throughout the video brings another layer to the coziness of this song
- I love this body percussion and how it creates the perfect vibe
- Layne’s sweet voice in the beginning
0:51 That unison run
0:52 Geoff’s buttery voice in his baritone range
1:00 The background vocals stutter-singing “in my room”
1:05 Layne’s little pop gesture
1:07 I’m really starting to appreciate Eli's timbre and the quality of his voice
The background vocals are repeating "do" creating a kind of broadway vibe
1:23 The harmony here
1:33 Incredible belt from Deejay
1:37 The subtle crickets in the background
1:49 Layne’s fill here and the next 15 seconds are just *chef’s kiss*
2:09 Beautiful falsetto from Cesar
2:21 Geoff's baritone
2:35 Layne does a little exhale which helps cue the listener for the stillness in the next section
2:50 "In my room" is sung with such tenderness and vulnerability
This song makes me feel so warm and cozy. It’s been my go-to happy song 😊
What about this: sos d'un terrien en detresse by Dimash, collaborate with Mitch Grassi from Penatatonix to take full lead, will used his all his tenor register mixed of some lower and higher register, high harmony by: Eil Jacobson and Cesar de la Rosa, Geoff will used all bass register for the bassline.
Interesting cadence. Thank you, VoicePlay.
Is Eli's t-shirt, does it say Polaroid?.......lol......retro........>^^
This is literally the sound of a warm blanket being wrapped around my shoulders. I have listened to this a dozen times today. It is my new quiet time song.
What about this: Realm by Queensrÿche
A cozy and sweet little song. 🎶❤️ Makes me feel safe and secure . 🥰 Performed with perfection - as usual. 😊👍
What about this: Just give me a Reason by Pink, collaborate with Rachel Potter to take full lead, high harmony by: Eil Jacobson and Cesar de la Rosa, Geoff will used mixed of chest and subharmonic and end of chest with reached growl for the bassline.
@@angiewoollard704 : for your opinion, what do you think?
This song brings chills to me evertime i hear it. I can understand each word clearly beautifully done ❤
One of the best examples of the Beach Boys' close harmony skills getting the VoicePlay treatment is pure magic. Great to see and hear Deejay again, too!
They're all great they all beautiful but I have to say Deejay stands out has the most beautiful face and voice ever. I wish the camera was on him more❤❤❤❤
I really enjoyed this! The singing and harmonies are both beautiful and nostalgic. Eli did a great job with the wardrobe as well.
Congrats Deejay for your performance tonight on the Voice. I had to come recap some of ur stuff with my fav grp VoicePlay!
wow, Wow, WoW, WOW‼️‼️‼️‼️fabulousness of this song sung this way!!! And at my age (76) I was a hugh fan of The Beach Boys. You guys are Great😄👍👏‼️
Layne is the next level beyond the next level beatbox king. All of these guys are amazing performers and blending them all together is Acapella Mastery!
Dude in the middle voice beyond beyond
Love the cow print shirt, seeing as we basses essentially moo for a living.
Beautiful. As I said on Patreon one of the many things I love is we never know where you'll go next. Last few months classical, horror, Chipmunks, Metallica & now the Beach Boys! And all perfect performances & incredible arrangements.
What about this: american bad dream by kane brown, collaborate with Tim Foust to take full lead and with Adam Chance from Home Free will used his 3rd octave for the undertone with the main lead, high harmony by: Eil Jacobson and Cesar de la Rosa, Geoff will used mixed of growl and subharmonic for the bassline.
Incredible job guys! Great to hear such harmonies these days.
Now, we need Surfin' USA, Surfin' Safari, and other Beach Boys songs.
or Beach Boys medley.

Wow! Just wow! You took that Beach Boys song, and just conquer it!
2/14. PERFECTION, Voice Play. Tank you for including the lyrics. EPIC!
Deejay and VoicePlay are great together. Since your doing The Beach Boys, you need to do their hit song Kokomo.
I would also like to see VoicePlay go out of their comfort zone, and try the following songs. Considering what you did with Nothing Else Matters by Metallica, I bet that they would be awesome.
Old Time Rock and Roll - Bob Seger
Fat Bottomed Girls - Queen
Sharp Dressed Man - ZZ Top
We're Not Gonna Take It - Dee Snider
I'm not sure how many times I've listened, but I turned this up LOUD and it's the first time I hear the crickets at about 1:36. Really cool effect!!
EPIC, Gentlemen. Deejay, you ROCK. Love the finger snapping! CLASSY! Love the close harmony. 100 diamonds out of 100! BRAVISSIMO!
Voiceplay can make even even very simple melodies like this interesting and beautiful!
What about this: ride through the country by colt ford, collaborate with Andrew John Kim to take lead, will used his strong and clearest with pitch blend with different frequencies with some lower and mostly higher register, high harmony by: Eil Jacobson and Cesar de la Rosa, Geoff will used mixed of chest and subharmonic end of chest with reached of growl with different depth for the bassline.
EXCELLENT, Gentlemen. DeeJay, you are awesome. A CLASS ACT, Gentlemen. Love the close harmony!
There needs to be a love button. "Like" is woefully insufficient. Gentlemen, the delicate harmonies are so delightful.
2/26. EXCELLENT! You gentlemen are very gifted! Thank you for including the lyrics!
This one hugged my heart and touched my soul. Sniff.
This feels like a lovely, warm audio hug ❤️
Lane's beat box was on point. Amazing
This song feels like being wrapped in a security blanket. Which is appropriate 😊
Also, why do Eli's close ups look so much better than everyone else's?
EXCELLENT! Thank you for including the lyrics. Deejay, you are awesome! OUTSTANDING, close harmony. Love how y'all keeping time by snapping your fingers! BRAVO, Gents! 10 out of 10!
These gentleman look great and sound amazing.. I will be over here vibing 🎶
Why did I just now notice Eli is wearing the same shoes as in NEM? I don't know why it matters, but for some reason I got excited when I saw that.
This was my father's favorite song. He used to play it on his guitar and sing it. He was the greatest ever and missed very much. Thank you for this. Good job.
EXCELLENT, Gentlemen. Thank you for including the lyrics! Great close harmony. Deejay, you are awesome! EPIC!

I remember that I watch aca top 10 video games and the road trip...
Good old memories 😊...
EXCELLENT, Gentlemen. DeeJay, you are awesome. Love the close harmony! This a joy to to listen to! BRAVO. Joyous!
If I hadn't already checked the credits early this morning I would have guessed that this was a Geoff arrangement. It's gorgeous - both do gorgeous work. But this has a soft seriousness I don't associate with Layne's more typically antic style. Not complaining, just really, really stunned. That will teach me not to assume I can tell from listening! As always from VP, it's beautiful. AND we got to hear Layne sing. Life is good.
Guess I'd better go give the original a listen.
I agree . I thought Geoff at first, too. Just goes to show how talented and versatile everyone in this group is.
This group and song just knocked me over. I subscribed!!!
2/18. MAGICAL! It is nice to hear Layne singing as well as his percussion
I wish I could "like" this more than once, 'cause each time I listen, I discover new things to like.

2/27. PERFECTION! Thank you for including the lyrics! BRAVO, Voice Play! A jewel of a performance. A 10 out of 10!
i have lots of good memories associated with beach boys songs, especially with my dad when i was a kid. he had several beach boys tapes he would play in his old truck on our way to the flea market on weekends, or in the old boombox while he worked in the garage and i rode my bike up and down the driveway. i can't wait to hear this 🧡
Best song that I ever heard.
OUTSTANDING! Deejay, you are awesome! Thank you for including the lyrics. Love the close harmony! Love how y'all keep time by snapping your fingers. Thank you for including the lyrics.
You guys just bring me to tears. Stunning.
This sounds almost surreal! Such beautiful tones and harmonies! It’s like the audio version of hot chocolate! Soothing, sweet, warm, comforting and delicious.
And great to see Deejay back too!
Also love the thumbnail ... that keyhole peek into the universe... such a small doorway to such enormous possibilities!
EXCELLENT, Gentlemen. DeeJay, you are awesome. Love the close harmony. BRAVO!
You guys are UNBELIEVABLE!!
This song perfectly captures what VoicePlay's music has meant to me over the last few years: a world where I can go to lift my spirits; a world that's kind and comforting and beautiful. I love these guys. 💙
Yes, so much this.
My room is my safe and cozy place, and I even have color lighting effects which are so soothing, similar to what they have in the video.
Music is a large part of the atmosphere I create and enjoy in my spaces, and VoicePlay with their lovely voices and arrangements, their sweet natured heartfelt delivery, is uplifting and always near the top of my playlist.
Plus... Such a great and iconic song, and as usual these guys have done something original with it, and showcase their talents so effectively while still serving the song and honoring the original... Which is a balance not many performers seem to strike.
This rendition is absolutely the musical equivalent of a cozy blanket! I adore it!
My favourite thing about this song and video is the *idea* behind it. It is a close and rather intimate invitation into your space - a moment of vulnerability that touches my heart. I see you, cool VoicePlay artifacts and mementos in the background...
Absolute perfection! Back to the roots of acapella here! Very "barbershop" feel to this one and I loved it! Always great to see Deejay! I swear..he opens his mouth and angels sing through him! And..does Geoff have little cow hooves on his shirt???? LOL! Thanks for another beautiful, amazing cover, guys! And so happy to hear Layne singing more! Such a wonderful voice! We need more of it!
I think they are hearts.
@@CJ_536 I am just going to keep my little silly opinion that its a cow print made up of cow hoofprints. LOL
He said they're Mickey bars - without the stick. 😂
@@karenponchak5304 well, that fits! My dad had a Mickey mouse shirt and tie from that era. Lol

OUTSTANDING, Gentlemen. Deejay, you are awesome. Thank you for including the lyrics! FABULOUS!
They took us to heaven and back especially with the little church riff at the end
Love Layne's warm, rich baritone almost as much as I love Geoff's velvety silken bass.
Lyane Stein is a light lyric baritone ( it a subtype of baritone) Geoff is definitely a bass but with tenor for his higher register.
@@deanmarion5477 I don't know why you felt compelled to comment on my love of Layne's baritone I couldn't care less about these new sub types they seem to be more about style than the actual voice. And no person has two vocal types Geoff is a basso profundo with a 6 (or almost 6) octave range. Mitch Grassi of Pentatonix is a countertenor. I may sound like a duck with asthma when I try to sing but I have played piano and flute. I love music and being old doesn't mean I am stupid. It means I have seen a lot of history and the world has changed along the way.
OUTSTANDING, GENTLEMEN. Deejay, your are awesome. Love the close harmony.. Great how y'all keep time by snapping your fingers! BRAVISSIMO!

One of my favorite Beach Boys songs. It was a reflective song for me. The song created a cocoon of safety. This rendition is absolutely wonderful.
What about this: This is Gospel by Panic! at the Disco, collaborate with Adam Chance from Home Free to take full lead, will used his spoken like transition into singing ( at the same time) with breaking up sentences by sentences that flow on point, mixed of some lower and higher register with per perfect pitch, high harmony by: Eil Jacobson and Cesar de la Rosa, Geoff will used new bass register called: subharmonic growl with different depth for the bassline.
