Thank you! From zone 3a Baudette Minnesota USA ❤
You are so welcome!
You are so practical - you just get down to business - no hype and long intro's. Also a jobber using whatever comes to hand as you tools. Best advice I have seen....
That's what we do Cheers Ray
2 brilliant ideas there!¬ Love the sieve, I'm going to do both of those ideas. Thanks Ray!
I typed that halfway through the video, but there were a lot more handy things to use as well!
A nice approach Ray. Look forward to seeing how they come on. All the best. Mags 🌻🌸🌼🌺
Fingers crossed! You and me both Cheers Ray
Good ideas and tips on soil type and varieties, thanks Ray! 😄
So nice of you
Great ideas thanks.
Thanks must try some more again this year Cheers Ray
Like the idea for the parsnips starts. I'm going to use spent paper rolls and cut them down to smaller size. Thanks again for the demo.
Yes the parsnips a x carrots did well Cheers Ray
Interesting video Ray, stay warm temperature drop predicted
Thank you, still being positive and will watch those temps and cover anything thats needed Cheers Ray
What a great channel. I've subscribed. I'm totally new to gardening and only have a couple of balconies as space as I live in a flat. I have a container of carrots that I sowed on the 5th Sep and a couple more which I sowed yesterday. Also some melon and bell pepper plants which I grew from seed from supermarket bought produce. Going to try some onions as well. Thanks for this video.
That’s great to hear and good luck with the melon. So rewarding Cheers Ray ✅🌸🥕
Great video ray no bull just straight to the point love your videos hope you no don’t mind me commenting 🤝
The video comments are very encouraging . I’m happy for all the comments and it’s good for UA-cam views.
Nice one Ray. I do something very very similar.
I use "spent" compost for the container then wiggle a hole for each station and fill that with fresh seed compost (no feed)
Great idea, i think the Asda compost is so fluffy and grassy looks like nothing like a compost so should be ok Cheers Ray
A couple of days ago I finally sowed some carrots and parsnips..... let's just hope they come up!
A good job done - look forward to seeing if they grow Cheers Ray
Just picking your brain here Ray 😊 when they grow, will you then replant the parsnips out or keep them in that box? And why do you cover them up completely apart from the obvious cold... dont they need light to grow?? Apart from that, what a great idea! All I need to do is find some boxes or recycling boxes that size and shape! Loving the morning light.. beautiful
These will be in the box until harvest - They wont be that long but will be ok. Cheers Ray
What will you do with the compost after harvest? Can you grow again in the same tub the next growing year? Like your videos Ray,cheers!
I added some fertiliser and planted my potatoes in them Cheers Ray 🥕🌱🌷
You could also use yogurt cartons
Great idea Cheers Ray
Ray, what is the benefit of putting the bottomless pots in the container as opposed to just planting straight in the container?
It shows exactly where the parsnip or carrot will grow and will grow with plenty of space - more often this way is done for exhibition vegetable to ensure a even growth Cheers Ray
Tsy a good to grow carrots use a 50.. 50. Mix compost and sharp sand
Make holes lut a couple of seeds in holes of the mix sharp sand and compost and fill holes with compost
Thin the weaker of the two carrots and will get nice ll g carrots I also do them in two foot lengths of downright guttering with the grandkids great vid buddy
Thanks for the tips! Cheers Ray
✌️😎
Was looking to do the same but stopped as I questioned the plastic. It needs to be food grade and mine had no markings on the bottom. It should have a pet or hdpe number stated somewhere. I'm told anything else could lead to chemicals in the plastic leeching out into your plants.
Maybe try without pots cheers
I guess I don't "get" the need for the nursery pots inside the tote? All I saw was lots of wasted space whereas you could have gotten in a few more carrots and/or parsnips. But thats just me. I have several 17 gallon rope handle buckets I use to plant in (currently onions, pumpkins, parsnips, carrots, garlic, brussels sprouts, peas and soon rutabagas and celery).
The idea is for the parsnips to grow in there own individual space to grow apart from each other Normally done is showing vegetables. We also carried the idea onto carrots and can see the carrots individually grow Cheers Ray 🌽🌶
Ray will you protect the carrots from carrot fly when they come up
There is a hope the the containers will be high enough for the flies - but not had any yet don the plot Cheers Ray
uncle phil!?
Thank you for watching Cheers Ray
