I'd like to recommend using waste yarn to count the rows. Just put a lil piece of yarn every 10-20 rows. Unless you have supreme confidence in your counter. I ended up with all of my panels being different lengths- one was 25 rows too long! You can also wait to close the second end of each panel until you sew the panels together, then pull out rows until they are the right length. I'm personally learning to knit better so that I can make up the short panels to match the correct sized ones without having to put a panel back onto the machine and risk messing it up.
Very nice tutorial. I love how the edges were stitched together. This technique really gives it a professional look that is so clean looking. Thanks for this!!!❤

I’ve never understood why ppl only use tubes to make blankets why not use the panel setting? You wouldn’t knit or crochet a double layered blanket typically so why when using the round knitting machine?
Well, when you knit a panel the edges typically curl and you don’t get pretty edges. Also, the tube setting just creates a warmer and nicer looking blanket.
You don't typically knit a blanket. A single thickness of something that big would stretch out of shape and be impossible to block. It wouldn't be attractive at all. These hold their shape, are warm and look pretty.
People knit single layer blankets all the time. Stockinette may curl at the edges, but there are plenty of stitches that have even yarn distribution that you do around the border that give you a flat panel with stockinette. These comments are ridiculous.
Awesome! I just didn’t really get the crocheting part and ask myself if there is a way to knit a sweater like this maybe. Maybe a combination of knitting, crocheting and sewing? 🤔🤔🤔
can you explain to me (a beginner) why you did it this way instead of using the panel setting on the machine? Like, did this give you a different texture? or thickness? or...just a different way to do it? either way, this was super informative! Thank you!
How long did it take to make? I’m looking at the Sentro, but it looks like you were cranking it for hours! Do you know if there is a motorized version?
I must admit this was a time consuming project. However, it was worth it for me in the end and it I enjoyed the processes of making it. Sometimes I hooked up a movie while I sewed the panels together 😊
Hello! There are actually drill attachments you can get that will turn the crank for you, while you hold the button on the drill. I haven't tested it with a row counter yet, but it reduces the arm strain from actually turning the crank.
problem with motors/drill attachments is they can melt the plastic parts if you go too fast. It's really all about perspective. It would take me WEEKS to knit a blanket this size/squishiness; compare that to hours, I'll take it! 😀
Thank you for the encouragement! The final project was around 60 by 42 inches. I used lion brand pound of love and that used almost three skeins to make the finished project
Very cool!! Or warm i guess 🙄 lol I love this!! I wanna get one of these now!! Just knitted a whole blanket for my 6'2" bf at his request...it took me forever. This looks like much fun! Thanks ❤
You could defiantly sew them together, but I found I liked crocheting better and only showed that in this video. If you are going to sew them together I recommend using the mattress stitch. 😊
I have a question how many rolls of wool dose it take to make one because im making balanks for my family for Christmas this year and i need to know how much wool to get for each one love you videos ❤
There’s always one side that will come off easy which should be the side you finish with. The other side you have to remove a yarn strand that is connecting all the loops and then you can just pull it. Of course there’s always scissors but make sure to be careful not to cut your project 😬
That happened to me a few times and there’s no perfect answer I can come up with. However, I recommend stretching you panels first to get a similar size and see if that helps. Also when you’re crocheting them together, you could grab an extra bar or skip a a stitch. I’m a perfectionist and this bothered me but I did my best to hide the ugly stitches.I hope this helps!
I bought one of these and I mind it well, but it keeps dropping stitches, even when I go slowly and keep the yarn taught. I wish I knew what I was doing wrong!
This can happen when your yarn is too thick or if your yarn is not completely in the end of the feeder. Also, if you crank the machine the wrong way suddenly, it will drop a stitch. That is a mistake I see a lot of beginners make. Hope this helps!
Question, I have made afghans following this style but every once in a while when closing the other end the tails aren’t lining up almost like the whole tube has shifted and when I go to bind the panels together the points don’t come out straight like one panel will have the corners laying flat horizontally and another they will be vertical any help would be appreciative
@@WMcrafts139 I did add more rows instead of 300 I did 386, as the person it was for is going to college and her twin bed is on the longer side, sorry I call them Afghans but it is the exact blanket pattern that is in the tutorial only with more rows and different color pallet. I am going to try to make another panel and see if I can get it to not shift, I'm wondering if it could be a tension issue as the addi express king-size doesn't come with one so you have to use your actual hand to hold the yarn and apply tension, I'll keep everyone updated when I finish the panel
For me it took extra long because i didn't do it continually and like took a bunch of breaks. 😂 It honestly depends on how much you work on it and when you have time. I like to procrastinate so I don't have a great answer sorry!
Yes, it also makes flat panels, but the blanket wouldn’t come out as neat and thick. Also it just looks nicer overall. Of course you can still make a blanket on the flat panel setting but I prefer the round setting for blankets.

can you explain to me (a beginner) why you did it this way instead of using the panel setting on the machine? Like, did this give you a different texture? or thickness? or...just a different way to do it?
either way, this was super informative! Thank you!
Well, a panel tends to roll at the edges and is much thinner. This way, it stays flat and thick. Also it looks nicer, and is very warm.
Thicker, warmer, and honestly easier because you just crank in the same direction instead of going back and forth
Do you know what you would recommend for a baby blanket? Maybe 200 rows and maybe 3-4 tubes?
It really depends on the size you want, but I would say 150-200 or 3 to 4 tubes like you said.
Bravo!
Having the open tube could also be a way to put some stuffing or quilt batting to make it even warmer
Yes, you could even use this design to make a version of a dog bed
