Greetings from Long Island & NYC. I just subscribed because this guy Capt. Mark is just outstanding. Direct, clear and no BS. I'm sold. Thx for the vid.
Awesome advice and information Captain Mark. I'm still rather new at fishing. I have up to now casted my cork and let it float in suspension hoping for the best. That might explain why I don't catch any fish with a lonely floating cork. 😂
@@Jonhuntandfish I didn't catch anything but I had 2 huge bites. One guy who saw the fish said it was easily the biggest snakehead he had ever seen. Both got away, but the popping cork is the way to go for snakehead.
@@dwightgholson6084 ill have to try it out. I went fishing for them yesterday but had to luck. I could see them jumping all over but they wanted nothing to do with lures yesterday.
Thanks for the tutorial, we don't have these type of corks in Australia, I'm going to make my own, I've got the wire and float I'm just waiting on the beads to arrive.
I think I saw somewhere popping corks don't have very long leaders as you need to be able to cast them, I don't think you would fish them deeper than 8 feet so max 4 foot leader so half way.
There isn't an exact science... it's often situational. We typically keep them short (18 to 24 inches) since the idea is to get the fish to come up close to the surface to see what's going on.
I normally do not use the tip pointing toward the water technique. I wade fishing and kayak, so for me, it would an awkward motion. Other than that, Spot On! I use the VeraMaxx Popping Cork, so I can change leader lengths, based on the water column and strike zone. As Always, Tight Lines and Stay Salt Strong!!!
The key is to keep the same motion on the cork as shown in this video. Since you'll be wading, you'll just have to be holding the rod up higher to keep it from hitting the surface on the twitches.
Yes. The paddletails give good action as it goes up and down. And stick lures move faster in the water since they have less drag relative to the paddletails.
Does the popping cork work with a texas rigged weedless lipless crankbait on a wire leader with 50lb shock mono to 8lb braid without circle hooks? 🤔 Awesome video thanks for the tips😂👍🏼

How'd it go?

Same as that mate ...I've got brass beads coming soon...What float you using? I used a cheap 'onion ' float from KMart..
@@LeonPom I think I'll use a weighted casting float and make the top flat
Go online bro they sell some real good ones. Get one with some weight on it so it can go further since the ones with only beads dont go too far
@@RicardoGarcia-yv2ks thank you
nice , what you think , will this rig works for freshwater stocked trout ?
nice vid pops
He explains it perfect 👌
Cool, very educational....now off to see how power poles work.
Thank you for a good video .
Thank you!
Question: How long must be the line between the popping cosk and the hook? Must reach to the bottom, half way or 3/4 way?
I think I saw somewhere popping corks don't have very long leaders as you need to be able to cast them, I don't think you would fish them deeper than 8 feet so max 4 foot leader so half way.

I keep it about arm length and one half of that just in case I need to change out to shallower water

Great video
Can you you use this rig surf casting?
I like video! Thanks!
Thanks for watching!
Very cool video 👌
What would be the proper way to use popping cork wade fishing sometime im in chest deep water

Great vid what leader length would you recommend and can you use it surf fishing again tyty for your help 👍 😀
Great question! Make sure to ask this over in the Community (www.saltstrong.com/) where the coaches spend their time.
Personally I go with 1-2ft. Any longer and I find the fish don’t notice your lure as easily because it’s too far from the cork
Always great information. Haven't done me wrong
Thanks for making time to leave the nice comment!
Thanks mark for info , can't wait to us it the next time i go fishing , hey can i do the same thing when i go fishing in freshwater as well ?
Is this effective in wind with choppy water?
No
My man Blaine Sumner! Been waiting for this episode since I heard about it!
Great Video. Getting into Red fishing, inshore fishing and need all A+ class, technique
Is it difficult to fish a popping cork from a sitting position in a kayak? Theres not much room between the rod tip and the water surface.
how to cast live shrimp with a popping cork rig like this but with live shrimp wihtout it slide off the hook??
Does the action change according to the bait you're using?
Yes. The paddletails give good action as it goes up and down. And stick lures move faster in the water since they have less drag relative to the paddletails.
Good Information.
Thanks Jeff!
Nice

We've never tried that combination, so not sure about that. Let us know if you give it a shot.
Where can i get this popping cork.. It s not available in India..
Can you please suggest
Great info
Thanks Pablo!
Thank you because I was doing a wrong wrong wrong
You're welcome! Glad it was helpful!
Problem is where I live it's all fast currents. No such thing as "let it go vertical" unless there's an ounce of lead hanging off it
How do know how long to make leader
How bad is fluorocarbon for popping?
Some ppl swear letting free line is the way to go until you wanna pop it. This method seems to make more sense to me.
Thanks for the feedback!
Looks like Hollywood knows the Four Horsemen corks are the best!!!!
Need New Saltstrong Decals, painting boat and Decal were bad, so need some Please
At the hospital now because I was trying to break my wrist just like him
What about when your fishing from a kayak and you really can't stand up?
with the right kayak you can. you want to be sure it's stable enough.
Can you catch strippers on the cork?
Aggressive popping no good with live shrimp unless you want to lose a lot of shrimp. With Gulp or artificial aggressive is ok.
You must have stopped watching it half way through because he says this at about the 3/4 mark.
@@calebboudreaux2955 Already wrote him off as deep pockets fisherman, I can't afford to lose a lot of live shrimp unless I'm catching fish.
