Got sober from herion! Always loved dressing up, but ended up pawning off all my nice clothing to support my addiction. Took a job working at Macys, ended up getting promoted to assistant manager of Tailored Suits and Mens Clothing! Life is amazing !
That happened to me about six months ago. Went through my wardrobe and realized I hadn’t bought much in the last 10 years and, as a 32 year old man, still dressed like a college kid. Been rebuilding my wardrobe and loving it. Makes me feel more confident and mature. The compliments from family, friends, and the ladies have been a nice bonus too.
@@rushthezeppelin I still appreciate that they function as a great icebreaker for friends who like the same music/movie/what have you on the shirt. Like... if I saw you at a party, unaware of your username, but I saw you wearing a Rush shirt? Oh man. We would definitely end up having a chat. But without that shirt, I'd have no idea. That being said, I suppose it serves as a better catalyst to have conversations. Not knowing
If there is one piece of advice I could give for rebuilding a wardrobe, it would be having a plan. I lost about 120 lbs, had no clothes that fit, and at the same time in my career, I took a 36 y/o man as far as I could go wearing jeans and band t's. I got my bonus and decided I was going to rebuild my entire wardrobe. The first thing I did was start watching RMRS on UA-cam to actually learn what style is. I also can't say enough about the RMRS face book community for learning about style and what works for you. Then I decided my budget. And I decided on $2,500. Once I had a plan, and a budget, I could watch the items I wanted for price and take advantage of sales. In the long run, $2,500 might seem like a lot, but in the 2 years sense I started with that, I've about doubled my annual salary and have moved up 2 positions at work. It obviously wasn't all the clothes that did it, but I had a newfound sense of confidence in myself that has taken me pretty far. The "halo effect" is also very real as I find people generally give me more respect when I look like a boss. All in all, that $2,500 was the best investment in myself I ever made. Custom fitted Navy 3 piece suit (Mens Warehouse$500) Custom fitted Gray 3 piece suit (Men's Warehouse $500) Dark blue 501's (Levi's $50) Black 501's (Levi's $50) 4 custom fitted dress shirts (Light blue, White, White french cuff, Black) (Mens Warehouse $60 each/$240) 2 pairs of chino's (tan and white) ($50 each) Anson belt 3 pack (Brown, Black, Light brown) (silver and gold buckle) ($100) Thursday boots Chukka (black) ($150) Thursday boots Captain (brown) ($200) Thursday boots Monk double monk strap (Brown) $175 Polo's (Black, Gray, Green) ($50 each) Then I put the remaining $250+ into my accessories (never forget the accessories) I've sense added a few pieces, but the combos I've been able to pull from this is like endless.
U r ready for every ocassion apart from a funeral. Just add a pair of white sneakers, a bomber jacket preferably olive green, a denim jacket in true blue without any shades, distressing or signs of whiskers and a black woolen scarves and 3 silk pocket square
I'm 26 and finally decided it's time to invest in some good looking clothes and shoes. Learning so much stuff. I didn't expect it. The fitting, the fabrics, the quality, the styles, etc. Most of my clothes and shoes were from syntetic materials. Starting by looking for online deals. And looking at materials and brands.
I just started on a complete rebuild. After a decade that contained divorce and bankruptcy, it was time to get myself and my life on a better track. I started by taking off 180 pounds for starters... and man, do I need clothes! I'm going a piece at a time, but am excited for the possibilities. This video has some great teaching. Thanks, Antonio!
@@alexnedilskyj9669 Life is good, thank you for asking! The wardrobe is coming along. Fortunately, I work at a job where we're mostly boots/jeans/t-shirts (online company, non-public facility), so I can shop the sales as they come along and not have to drop a lot of $$ all at once. I have the basics pretty well in hand - fancier stuff to come. And that Antonio got me interested in fragrance... what a rabbit hole that is...
I just got out the Marines this year and I have been really trying to up my wardrobe after not buying clothes for years. Your videos have helped me so much and when I apply your tips/knowledge, I have gotten compliments. Civilian side has been difficult , but I feel that Marine confidence walking into interviews when I know I look good. Semper Fi brother!
I just want to look good. I'm Catholic and go to mass every Sunday, and I have always worn a suit. A few things I've noticed is that I feel better, I act better, and people treat me differently. I get compliments often when I go out into public spaces while wearing one of my two suits. Also, people don't just see me, I do not just represent myself. When they see me I do represent myself, but I also represent my family and my faith, my church. So I want to represent well.
Separated from the military after 12 years and realized I have no outfits for work. Had to slowly build my wardrobe over the past few months. Going from uniform to what I WANT to wear is such a great freedom that not many people will understand lol
My first year out I kept wearing my Navy undershirts with blue jeans and black boots. Basically kept dressing as if I was in the Navy but without the camo lol. I didn't even realize it because even though I had some clothing from before I was in, I was just so used to a uniform, my brain defaulted to blue monochrom to replicate our digi's. Still do it from time to time 5 years later.
Oh man, veterans and people still in the military definitely struggle with dressing appropriately for their age, while I was out on liberty in the middle east I had on a pair of chinos and a polo, and I was over dressed compared to my coworkers wearing T shirts and gym shorts. We definitely need to do better with our appearance.
I’ve just turned 48. I’ve always taken care of my skin and exercised so looked younger than my years. Over the last year or so, looking in the mirror I can see both the younger me and the future older me coming through in my reflection and I like what I’m seeing. I’m changing up my look from more youthful to more mature but still on trend. I can take the time patiently but looking forward to the ageing me. I want the future me to be and look vital, relevant and on trend. Great videos; please keep them coming! Love from Australia. 👍🏻
For me, 75% of rebuilding my wardrobe was down to finding a brand that fit me correctly. I have a slimmer build with long torso and arms so I always bought a size larger to make it “fit properly.” Problem is I look like I’m swimming in my clothes. A friend recommended I try tall sizes and lo and behold, Medium Talls fit me perfectly. I narrowed it down to two brands: Banana Republic and Eddie Bauer.. BR for more formal and going-out clothes, EB for lounging around the house, the yard, and running quick errands. It is amazing how much more confidence I have just wearing clothes that I know look and fit better.
I've been doing these for years. Especially buying articles that were not one hit wonders. You can buy cheap, but you have to know when and where. Rebuilding is a real thing. Had to do it a few times in my life. It can be fun though 🙂
I'm on a keto diet right now and my goal is around 160 from 212. Been watching a lot of these videos recently and decided to change my style while I'm at it since I'm going to need new cloths anyway. I'm going with budget cloths while I lose weight because I'm going to be changing sizes again soon. Guides like this really help me zero in on how much of each type of clothing items I need and how to mix and match my sets to maximize my wardrobe for both now and when I reach my goal.
One of my first jobs out of school back in 2019, my then boss told me something that i learned not to just carry in my career, but as my very personal self. He told me “not to sell myself, short.” That’s part of why I choose to have a wardrobe, and make my “uniform.” To carry myself with character, Which would be seen in my wardrobe. Most of the time, Casual button downs combined with boots, and always jeans or chinos. I felt more mature wearing that, and actually feel good in it. Also reflected my office desk job, in the design and construction field of work. To show a sense of my character, and to not sell myself short in life in any field, that is my why.
Wow, this vid has the best timing. I moved to another city recently, went though renovation and also gained moderate amount of muscle, so i gotta remake a lot of my wardrobe. Definitely can use this advice to complete my wardrobe, cheers
I am starting my second year in college, and I realized that I had been wearing the same clothes and t shirts since I was an early teen. I’ve been watching RMRS for a long time and this video really helped. Because as much as I would love to expand my more formal wardrobe, I have less use for it than I would a more casual wardrobe that I can wear to school. I’m excited to rebuild and renovate my wardrobe and find my style.
The clearance racks at big stores like macys are your friends. There are some hidden gems in there. I just found a polo I like for $10, pj's for $5, dress shirts that are usually $80- 100 for about $35-40.
Plan a day to just check around all your thrift stores too and you’ll almost always find one that has the quality clothes, but for pennies on the dollar, I found a nice quality 3 piece navy suit for $7….once you find that gem of a thrift store you’ll be good
I'm rebuilding my wardrobe as part of levelling up my lifestyle and this is where minimizing can be so much more. I want to open my wardrobe and know I'm not skipping past clothes I've never and will likely never wear, I want to look good by simply changing it up. Also yeah big re-composition of my body all my pants even tailored ones was always 32" I'm now around 28". Thank you for creating this video and sharing with the world :)
I got this in my late 30's. For the last couple of years, I have been building my wardrobe. At first, it was uncomfortable wearing a sports coat/button-down shirt/trousers/ nice shoes, and now it's second nature. Don't be afraid to be the nicest dressed person in the room- (Sven), and now I see those in my circle dressing nicer and stepping up their game.
Started working at dressing better a few years ago. Sharp casual, business casual was more my style but I can also go full business in a suit if needed. I had realized for unknown reason just gaining about 20 lbs I had been buying more jeans, polos, T-shirt for a while and barely noticed. Many those cloths I never really enjoy wearing that much, but was just easy to throw on without much thought to head to the store, date, movies etc. Still, I know I wasn’t wearing the best of my personal style, always thought about it subconsciously and it bothered me as wasn’t my most confident self as well. So I pruned my entire wardrobe. Also started to exercise more regularly too. With less stuff in my wardrobe I had far less to wear but also less to clog my choice of what to wear. I started improving my wardrobe at first by buying the type of dress trousers I liked to wear. I skipped over chinos and went to more Wool type fabric. Wool can come in different weight fabric wise and some the lighter ones are all season wear. But that’s where I started with good drape fabric wool on the lighter side, fit and in a few standard colors like black, navy, gray, tan or slight shade of. Did have a few more black as it was a color I often wore a lot for variety. But once I had a few solid trousers I took them to tailor as they came unheeded in my waist size, I had them hemmed to my fit in the usual Oxford shoes I wore so they fit well in adjustment. Then I had the option to start buying whatever shirt I liked that also fit with the trousers. Already having a versatility of trouser colors mean it was real easy to get shirts to match any shirt type or color. Mostly buttoned up shirts, knit or knit sweater type shirts. Along the way I added more trousers, more shirts etc. Always taking my trousers for tailoring. But slowly like that I was able to improve my wardrobe. In time I added a few suits, including a few blue shades including navy color. Added some sport coats and in navy color. Shirt Jackets are something I liked, recently added a few and still adding more. Shoes improved s lot with real leather shoes and very much what I wear these days. However, it all takes time! Improving your wardrobe takes a lot of effort slowly over time. And just as much you also have to spend time and effort to take care of your cloth and maintain it all.
I took part in a weight loss journey while working from home. Baggy shirt and athletic shorts with sandals was my go to. The shorts started falling off. Then I was laid off and realized I had no suitable work clothes. I decided to change and be the best smelling and best dressed person in a crowd. My wardrobe isn't where I want, but it's getting there.
I'm in the divorce category. 48 year old single dad and I'm realizing I have a lot of old, worn, Ill fitting items clogging up the closet. I'm purging everything from H&M! Thanks Antonio! This was the kick in the butt I needed.
i get the premise of interchangeability, but in the past i didn't care for the practice. for me, i liked having a pair of jeans, pants or shorts that i could wear wear with at most 2 shirts, maybe 3 if it was the favorite pair. granted at one point in time, i had around to 20 pairs of pants/jeans and 20 or so pairs of shorts. i suppose it also had to do with the idea of less thinking, having already established solid outfit choices. the same applied to which belt would adorn each outfit. as i rebuild some of my wardrobe, i find myself falling into the same practice. i say do what works for you and your budget!
I had a combination of reasons five years ago: I became a father and a teacher, and there were some intense developments in my private life. I just didn't want to wear baggy clothes or student-like outfits anymore. In stead, I opted for a classic look. I always liked shirts and blazers, but now I really went for it and even started to wear neck ties. Perhaps it makes me stand out like a dandy, especially since most male teachers simply wear jeans, hoodies and sneakers around here, but I never regretted my choice. (As a side note, it turns out that it inspired some students, and plenty of people apparently like a classic look, but they just don't take the step.)
Been working on my style and wardrobe for a few years now. I've found that as I've been upgrading things and I've felt more manly and more confident. I've got a bunch of pieces that I love. Putting them on almost feels like putting on a suit of armor in that it gives a sense of purpose to getting through the day.
I'm not a man, but I do follow men's style channels like yours and GG; I like GG for their classical inspiration and your more modern tips to balance it a bit better. Men's fashion changes slower than women's since it focuses more on function vs form, while women's fashion tends to have it reversed because _WaMaN mUsT lOoK hAwT_ is still too ingrained in culture, and what is "hawt" changes with the season, and nowadays with the week, literally, it's called microtrends and it's awful. The few women's style channels that I follow (that aren't just outright historybounding lol) focus on the same base things you keep pressing: fit is the most important thing in an outfit, and it pays in many different ways to invest in a few well-fitting pieces than a ton of meh- or ill-fitting trash. Female bodies have a lot more variables to take into account when fitting, which makes custom the best option for most women but out of price range for all but a few, especially with the push to fast-fashion to even have a chance to ride the trends. If more people saw their wardrobes as more than just cloth to cover your modesty in public, but as something that can make you look your best and can help you feel your best less people would hate their bodies and themselves.
You are BRILLIANT! I am a personal luxury stylist, and your Wisdom helps me take my client's style and confidence to limitless heights! Thank You, you're the best💯🙏🏾
I got into a habit of wearing basically a black t-shirt, hoodies, blue jeans and converses all the time. It’s not a bad outfit but I need to get out of that habit of wearing the same outfit all the time and change things up. I’ve now brought some nice casual shirts, polo shirts, woollen jerseys, different jackets, a couple of chinos, black leather shoes, brown leather shoes, new converses (to replace my old crappy ones), a black belt, a brown belt and a couple of nice sunglasses that suit me. I will get more stuff soon when I get the available money to as I have spent a bit on this upgrade. I’m keen on a getting a decent watch but man they are expensive compared to everything else.
I've lost 41 kg (90 lb) and your tips really work, but for me, it was a complete wardrobe change and I only kept one suit so I remember what size I used to be. Thank you as always.
my wardrobe is currently (and generally) very casual. I work in retail/warehouse and don't go out much but I would still like to upgrade and get some nicer items that fit better and work for me and my budget, rather than the "safe" and bland options I have now (blacks and greys). thanks for all your style tips!
Just started watching your videos, and without being aware of it, this is the video that I needed to watch. I am going to slowly build because I haven't changed style more than decade. Thank you for the tips!
Just lost 30+ lbs so rebuilding my woredrobe. Totally agree with Antonio spend a little more on your clothes so they can be altered as needed. I work with such an awesome tailor/clothier that he altered my older items to fit at no cost and I re-payed the favor by buying new items to update my fit. Great channel love the videos please keep them coming.
In all honesty, I’m just sick and tired of feeling down on my luck, having no confidence and being alone. I need to start making changes in my life, mentally, physically, spiritually.
I’ve got many all graphic shirts and over 60 pairs of Jordans. I don’t absolutely need to, but I want to look sharper so I’m gonna revamp my wardrobe with higher quality clothing.
Going into my last year of college, and I'm debt free. I know this isn't typically the case, but once this year is over, I have several trips to take for my career that I already have planned. Your channel has really helped me, especially with my confidence and being short.
I'm slowly building up my wardrobe from my highschool/college days. I majored in criminal justice and specialized in policing and after graduating I was working blue collar jobs to pay the bills while job hunting, so my wardrobe never required any genuine upgrades until now. I'm 26 and was still effectively wearing the same clothes I was when I was 16 and decided I need a change. I started small with just taking care of myself and looking/smelling better to at least have a better building block. From there I have weeding been out shirts and pants that don't fit and are worn out for ones that are better made and more tasteful. The next step is going to be a few more pairs of shoes beyond my 2 pairs of dress shoes and sneakers to be able to dress up what I have a little bit. Around Christmas I'm going to look to getting some new proper trousers and jackets to have a better fitting and just better looking suit. My money and time are tight but I know I look good in black/gray/reds and a more American or hybrid American style is what suits my build. It is not going to be a one and done process but it's so doable if I stay diligent.
two reasons for me! Firstly I've gone from being a tradie, to being in the fitness industry, to now being in car sales. So my wardrobe is mostly jeans, highvis, or gym gear. Secondly, just been through a breakup so now is the perfect time to upgrade my style!
It might sound crazy but the reason I’m rebuilding my wardrobe is all the reasons you mentioned. My divorce was finalized a few months ago, I dropped 35lbs of fat and gained 15lbs of muscle. I just got out the army and looking to go to school for cybersecurity, and I feel like I’m in a rut cause it feels like I’m essentially starting over from scratch. I love your videos and definitely help change the way I dress and think about dressing like a man so thank you 🙏🏼
Don't look to get married again because love, loyalty, family, and respect, are all now almost extinct. Look what marriage got you. Not worth it. I wish you happiness but we also need to be realistic and adapt. Most of us are much happier without someone that's just in a relationship to have their bills paid and not work.
What drives me to change my wardrobe is my new direction in life. I'm embracing my true self. I'm publishing soon my first book soon and all things are looking up for me. So it is natural that I want my clothes to fit with my new identity.
You know, i just caught myself with closed eyes vibing my head to the intro. I heard and saw it a huge amount of times, but it is still a pleasure to hear. I wanted to share it with you
I'm glad you posted this video because graduation is comming and I need to convert my college wardrobe of t-shirts to Young professional business attire asap
Have been wearing Anson belts for close to 8 years and I love them. Great product. One tip is leave yourself some slack on the belt before you cut it. The holes where you synch the buckle to the leather sometimes wears out and you need to make new holes. You’ll probably do this once every 2-3 years (depending on use).
Great recap of all the great videos on rebuilding a wardrobe. For me, this channel has been a huge help in evolving my personal style. Discovered RMRS when I was coming back from Iraq and didn't want to go back into the blue-collar trades, but move into engineering testing and design. By employing the strategies from this channel I have rebuilt my wardrobe that is in line with my profession and goals.
I have my closet in a rotation. Recently laundered cloths go on the right side of the closet. I always grab something from the left side of the closet. I avoid going to a favorite shirt or jacket. Because they are only my favorites if I always use them.
Currently changing up my wardrobe. A few factors, weight loss is one. The other is trying to improve sartorially, I’ve spent the last couple of years following this and other channels and now i have hit a comfortable weight it’s time to swap out the old clothes. Keep up with the great content
Hey Antonio! thanks for the video! Im currently changing careers into an office setting and am stoked to learn a process of HOW TO DRESS WELL. Ive been subscribed for years and its been a while since watching your vids but have always found them to be knowledgable and helpful my friend.
I just moved back to Illinois from New Mexico. I've changed jobs as well, leaving the medical field to go back to freelance A/V work. I also recently entered my 30's and decided to embrace my balding and shave my head. I have to do a complete overhaul of my wardrobe. While I was in NM I became more of an outdoor person and my clothing was based around practicality in heat while hiking and rock climbing. I've lived in IL for most of my life, and we are less than a month away from 30 degree and less temps. But thankfully I kept all of my jackets and coats. Pants are set for now, though I only have one pair of actually blue jeans, so I may tone down the greens and browns I've bought and get another pair of indigo jeans. Shirts are the main issues. My wife insists I stop wearing mediums because they don't fit, but large shirts are too bulky. I'm 6'3 at 205, very long torso and arms, so finding shirts that fit is virtually impossible, and I only kept 5 shirts, 3 sweaters, and 4 dress shirts. I may switch to just long sleeve button ups and get them tailored. I still fit in my formal attire so I'm good there. But the hardest part now is going from scrubs daily to actual clothing. But I'm not too worried because Antonio has impeccable timing with his videos that cover exactly what I need help with at the time. Case in point today.
I’m 22, decided to rebuild my wardrobe. I was tired of my oversized and skateboard fashion clothing, it always looked good on me and i had a genuine idea about dressing up, but I reached a point in my life that i figured that i need to be more mature and leave my boys clothes behind and dress like a man.
I'm about to graduate law school and am taking the Bar next July. I'm going to need more professional clothing. I also have an autoimmune condition that prevented me from keeping on weight and building muscle; I finally have it under control. I'm going to the gym regularly now and am starting to build my form now. So, I have a lot of reason to redo my wardrobe around that time as both career and fitness comes to fruition.
When I buy pants I usually try to get enough for a week of wear and I always leave one pair still with the tags on to save for when I really need them to look as good as possible
After returning to college later in life, I changed my career path from being an electrician to a real estate developer. Even though the style in Silicon Valley is relatively loose and open, maintaining a professional image is a must for me.
My go-to color is black and gray. Due to its simplicity and interchangeability with anything else in my wardrobe, I find it easiest to style for my body type.
Spend money on outerwear, decent money on footwear, and some accessories that get used regularly are worth splurging on The key on the rest is to “solve” the problem of what to buy Utilize free returns to find out what size shirts, blazers etc you wear. Then set an alert to buy the brand/model and size that you want. If you’re comfortable with being preowned then even better. This way you don’t really have to think about it. For example - I like size XL sunspel riviera polos in the summer. So when I see one on sale I buy it because I know it’ll be easy to fit into my wardrobe. Same with Arcteryx skyline long sleeves for outdoor activities One thing I solved for pretty easily are pants - I just have one pair of dress pants from Outlier. I can wash them and they’re dry overnight or even dry enough in a few hours. I realized that blue colors work for me, so I wear blue up top generally and have these grey pants for dressier occasions. My summer pants are also outlier - the ability to easy launder them and not worry about holes/fading/etc is a huge deal for me especially with kids. For winter I have one pair of black heavier outliers that look like jeans but perform like the nylon pants they are Blazers I found my company and size I prefer and buy them whenever they’re on sale. Easy peasy Shoes can be tough but the same rules apply. You can “solve” for them with relatively low risk. Brands like Allen Edmonds are plentiful on eBay Poshmark etc. If you have an idea of your size, buy a few pairs (most brands have many different lasts for the same category of shoes, I.e. they’ll have 3-5 different fit penny loafers). If they don’t fit, resell them at a slight loss. I’m pretty well settled into my routine and don’t have to think about what I wear every day anymore, no matter the occasion. It’s liberating. Budget maybe $500 for returns and resell fees as part of this process. Then you’re on autopilot
This video reminded me that I gotta get some work done with my wardobe. I'm planning to not outright rebuild my wardrobe but kind of "re-adjust" it by making my clothes fit my frame better since I've gotten a little bit leaner with working out. It's nifty that my dad's a tailor and still has a working sewing machine. And RMRS has a video just for that, too! Thanks for the videos, Antonio!
Always wanted to dress up and change the wardrobe but never did. Now I change into a leading position and that is my motivation to do it. Also I simply want to dress nice and look good.
I want more formal looking clothes and more clothes for in the winter because i wear almost always the same hoodies. Incase of formal wear. I bought a 3 piece suite and since than i fell in love with formal wear
I feel like reinventing myself for the last half of my life. Been t shirt and jeans guy forever, and was proud of it. But it's time to represent my success with a wardrobe that commands a bit more respect in these later years.
I'm 34, having recently gone through a break up that leveled me to the ground and destroyed all of my aspirations and plans. Have been working on my physique, my health, and my psychology in dealing and understanding myself on a very deep level. I decided that it is time to start looking how I feel I am on the inside, and looking at my wardrobe, the band shirts, cartoon designs and crazy ornamental patterns will not cut it. I have to reflect who I am, who I want to be and look the part for the partner that I want to have as well. So here we are now.
I just attained 70 years old. I am old, but don't want to look like it & don't want to feel like it. Since retiring from the suit & tie business attire world, I am kind of lost in how to dress well at my age. I have purchased some nice boots & outer wear, but everything underneath needs help. Thanks!
I’m renovating my wardrobe because I’m 15 (yeah I’m young and in high school lol) and realized that I hate how I look and dress and wanted to feel better about myself. Prior to this, I’ve had sports and athletic wear as my casual wear, and now I realize that it’s only really good for when I work out. I wanted to make an upgrade but I’m still young so I don’t need too many items and want to buy cheap but quality. I’m building that now and it’s definitely a wip, but I’m off to a good first step! I appreciate your videos, they really help me realize what I need to do even if I won’t be dressing for the same purpose and the same as you and most your viewers, so thank you!
Big job change to sales. 10 years after a divorce, raising 4 children and living at bare minimums it's time to change. I've gained a bunch of weight but still need to look and feel more " valuable" maybe is the word I'm looking for. It's time start dating, and continue personal and professional success. A new wardrobe is absolutely necessary. I'm 45 and ready for my life to begin. Meaning doing things for me not everyone else and never getting around to me. Needing all the help I can get. Thank you.
I've actually got a pretty good sense of style, but I've been steadily paring down my wardrobe to make what I have more versatile, functional, and comfortable. More than that, I became a dad in 2022. Time to step it up.
Used to dress very well, won best dressed at my highschool formal. Then i got older and got lazy, now i wanna get back on track and part of that is looking better
I’m switching careers from hospital security to accounting and finance. I need a wardrobe that elevates my professionalism both in the office and on personal time.
Rebuilding my wardrobe because I’m 26 working and living in the city but I still mostly dress (outside of work) like when I was 20 working a part-time job and living with my parents.
This is a fantastic video which I'm going to have to re- watch a few times and take notes. I have a full wardrobe of different clothes but my default uniform is my dark wash jeans, black t shirt and black trainers.
I’ve lost 77 lbs and I was 310. Now I can actually choose what I want to wear rather than picking from Omar the tent makers castoffs. I have rediscovered my jam and your videos have helped me remember the things I used to think about every day when I dressed my self. I am now on a self image journey AND a weight loss journey
I just got a new job and I'm more or less fresh out of college. I've never really had the funds to spend on developing a wardrobe that makes me feel confident. I'm looking to change that!
I am thinking of replacing my pants first most of them don't fit well and could actually be used for yard work. Like getting 5 pair of jeans/ dress pants next month then following month get a few dress shirts.
I went from a security guard, to a postal worker, and now I work as a library assistant in an administration role. Ive been used to duty clothing or ware house closing and now I need more office like clothing.
My why, my what, my drive is that I am now 25. There were a lot of constraints put on my ability to socialize as a minor, I became demotivated when it came to doing practically anything. I hit 24 looked at my life and said that I wasn't happy. I bought a gym membership (which I twice weekly), calculated a weekly visit to a mildly popular local restaurant, and searched for a proper men's clothing stylist in my area. There were a lot of duds in that last one, but I have my wardrobe helper now. I understand some of the skills and details I need to look for when grabbing clothes, but I still lean on them twice a year to do a recheck. To other guys that were shut-ins, either willingly or forced, you CAN get out! A sound soul dwells within a sound mind and body. Get out into nature, absorb a better environment. Go to the gym, get a trainer and pop in when you get that urge! Feeling the need to stretch your legs? Run, run around the exterior of your apartment block or duplex! Just do it!
I’m going through a new chapter if my life. Unfortunately, it’s one I have to grin and bear. After being away from / estranged from my family for 20+ years I moved back to be with them because everyone is getting sick and dying. I got rid of most my East Cost NYC things packed a single van made the move. I have old clothes I left behind 20+ years ago back in CA mixed with the few things I brought with me. But I had to start with a new/different job. I was doing what you said, but hadn’t formalized the approach. My main objective now is to reinvent myself again. Get rid of as much as I can - in stages. But I can’t afford the quality of brands I had before so I’m buying used from eBay. I don’t like buying from clothing discounters unless I have to. My new brands so far are Jim Thompson and Hermes ties, Mr. Freedom (like) shirts etc. and French Connection, All Saints and Bullock and Jones. Formal / rebel / street. I’ve had about 4 major changes in my life and expect to have one or two more so don’t want to build a big wardrobe. The focus going forward is on taste, creativity and flexibility.
I have started my own business and getting married soon so generally starting a new chapter in my life so I want a new wardrobe to reflect this new me.
I needed this! I just got a new job working back in the office (hybrid) whereas previously just working from home full time. I really need a new wardrobe 😂

Hi, the fall capsule wardrobe link is not working at this time. Thank you for reading this.
@realmenrealstyle who made that henley you are wearing in this video?
Got sober from herion! Always loved dressing up, but ended up pawning off all my nice clothing to support my addiction. Took a job working at Macys, ended up getting promoted to assistant manager of Tailored Suits and Mens Clothing! Life is amazing !
Good job and keep going after it!

Onwards and upwards. Congrats on getting understanding and control of your story. 😊
Keep on keepin on mate. Good on ya for turnin your life around like that. Never deviate from the path of betterment. Best wishes !
That’s great your true calling come through.
One day I realized that I'm a 30 something father that hasn't changed up the band t-shirts and loose jeans that I found comfortable since my teens.
Sounds familiar.
Piece by piece. Find clothing that reflects who you are and shine bright my friend!
Yup I figured that out at about 33. Haven't worn a logo shirt since then.
Custom fitted Navy 3 piece suit (Mens Warehouse$500)
Custom fitted Gray 3 piece suit (Men's Warehouse $500)
Dark blue 501's (Levi's $50)
Black 501's (Levi's $50)
4 custom fitted dress shirts (Light blue, White, White french cuff, Black) (Mens Warehouse $60 each/$240)
2 pairs of chino's (tan and white) ($50 each)
Anson belt 3 pack (Brown, Black, Light brown) (silver and gold buckle) ($100)
Thursday boots Chukka (black) ($150)
Thursday boots Captain (brown) ($200)
Thursday boots Monk double monk strap (Brown) $175
Polo's (Black, Gray, Green) ($50 each)
Then I put the remaining $250+ into my accessories (never forget the accessories)
I've sense added a few pieces, but the combos I've been able to pull from this is like endless.
I need to hire you as a writer!!!
Great effort! Well done.
U r ready for every ocassion apart from a funeral. Just add a pair of white sneakers, a bomber jacket preferably olive green, a denim jacket in true blue without any shades, distressing or signs of whiskers and a black woolen scarves and 3 silk pocket square
This is what I love to see. Congrats on all your hard work paying off!

You’re Amazing 🤩
Brilliant! Keep moving forward
Russell. You are awesome man! How's your wardrobe coming along? How are you doing in general?
@@alexnedilskyj9669 Life is good, thank you for asking! The wardrobe is coming along. Fortunately, I work at a job where we're mostly boots/jeans/t-shirts (online company, non-public facility), so I can shop the sales as they come along and not have to drop a lot of $$ all at once. I have the basics pretty well in hand - fancier stuff to come. And that Antonio got me interested in fragrance... what a rabbit hole that is...
@@russwhaleythat’s so exciting. Reminds me of my weight loss journey. How excited I was to start buying new clothes. It was like a new lease on life.
Same problem here. My 7 years were up at the beginning of the year and I found myself asking everyone "what the hell do you wear to work?"
Meanwhile I want the uniform. 😂
I recently turned 40 and it’s time I grow up. Time to suit up!
Plan a day to just check around all your thrift stores too and you’ll almost always find one that has the quality clothes, but for pennies on the dollar, I found a nice quality 3 piece navy suit for $7….once you find that gem of a thrift store you’ll be good
I love this gentleman's videos. I am 37 years old and I am learning how to dress, look casual and modern in my work.
My ‘why?’ is I intend to inspire and influence the people in my organization to grow and reach our optimal abilities. New attitude.
I turned 40 this April. I think my wardrobe is a treasure trove for 16 to 36. But now I need a wardrobe that lasts for the rest of my life
I like Blue, Black, and dark red clothes personally. I dont mind green, but definately not vibrant colours like yellow
I'm older now, I needed to upgrade my wardrobe , was a stylish dresser when I was younger....returning to my roots !
The way you speak looking at the camera so fluently at times in one shot, is commendable.
I have amazing editors 🙌
I know that, but hey.. the confidence is top notch.. 👍
i get the premise of interchangeability, but in the past i didn't care for the practice. for me, i liked having a pair of jeans, pants or shorts that i could wear wear with at most 2 shirts, maybe 3 if it was the favorite pair. granted at one point in time, i had around to 20 pairs of pants/jeans and 20 or so pairs of shorts. i suppose it also had to do with the idea of less thinking, having already established solid outfit choices. the same applied to which belt would adorn each outfit. as i rebuild some of my wardrobe, i find myself falling into the same practice. i say do what works for you and your budget!
Nailed it!
You're only as strong as your/the weakest link!
Blue. Something about the color 🔵 always gives me cool energy 👌🏾💙
Medical student + gained a bit of muscle and in need of an adult wardrobe
Been working on my style and wardrobe for a few years now. I've found that as I've been upgrading things and I've felt more manly and more confident. I've got a bunch of pieces that I love. Putting them on almost feels like putting on a suit of armor in that it gives a sense of purpose to getting through the day.
This is the style advice a father should give his son.
You can just get a cheap classy Bulova. Like the classic with Roman numberals and no date. It has more class than watches that cost 100 times.
I've lost 41 kg (90 lb) and your tips really work, but for me, it was a complete wardrobe change and I only kept one suit so I remember what size I used to be.
Thank you as always.
New job, put on 20lbs of muscle, recently single, and I'm now in my early 30's. Revamping my life might as well revamp the wardrobe as well.
Foloowing since 3-4 years ago ... your tips stand the test of time. quality over quantity.
my wardrobe is currently (and generally) very casual.
Recently divorced. I've watched a lot of your videos and learned a whole lot. Thank you!
Thank you Isaiah - I appreciate you.
8:14 *"Better call Saul" theme song starts playing*
Spend money on outerwear, decent money on footwear, and some accessories that get used regularly are worth splurging on
The key on the rest is to “solve” the problem of what to buy
Utilize free returns to find out what size shirts, blazers etc you wear.
Same with Arcteryx skyline long sleeves for outdoor activities
One thing I solved for pretty easily are pants - I just have one pair of dress pants from Outlier. For winter I have one pair of black heavier outliers that look like jeans but perform like the nylon pants they are
Blazers I found my company and size I prefer and buy them whenever they’re on sale. Easy peasy
Shoes can be tough but the same rules apply.
I'm changing my wardrobe cause. I'm planning on a vacation to France and I wanna look presentable and stylish
I hate my closet. It’s unorganized. I don’t have everything I need. This video will help me organize.
I am going to send this to my clients, this is what we preach to them. Love this advice!
To embrace and embody the visions at hand. The childhood dreams are actively moving in my direction.
Do a video for trades guys who want to wear something other than a plaid shirt and jeans
Lost spouse 1.5 years ago, need to up my wardrobe. I'm a senior now and looking to get more dressy from shoes to clothes, underwear and fragrances.
Anson Belts is a great company! I bought them based on your endorsement. I wear them every day!
Same!!! I've been supporting them for more than a decade already.
Blue always works well for me.
I think you are secretly an economist my friend. I really like how you explain concepts using graphs. Economists do that
I am thinking of replacing my pants first most of them don't fit well and could actually be used for yard work. Like getting 5 pair of jeans/ dress pants next month then following month get a few dress shirts.
I went from a security guard, to a postal worker, and now I work as a library assistant in an administration role. Ive been used to duty clothing or ware house closing and now I need more office like clothing.
I have 3 ANSON BELTS. There great. You have a lot of great advice. Thanks.
Your 1st min of this video was an Amen moment. 100% on point. Truth bomb.
I really like this video, it asks questions that I've never asked myself when it comes to my style as well as helps me narrow down what I like
My why, my what, my drive is that I am now 25.
