Applying perfume on lotion is not ideal. The alcohol in the perfume ends up breaking down the lotion. It should be down the other around. Apply the perfume let it settle then apply the lotion. This locks in the perfume longer on the body
@@azmike3572 try mixing cologne with body odor, no deodorant and a tacky outfit and see if that doesn’t deduct a few points from your chances of getting laid… I’m sure someone agrees with my thesis
Hey I'm woman and hoping the info on this video applies to me as well as men. This is the most informative video I've come across about the where, how, and why of wearing fragrance. "I want to be discovered, not announced" is definitely my style. Thanks for the video!
From a man, that also doesn't know anything but loves to learn what I can, look for women specific to cross check if you are wanting to lean on the feminine side
I used to only wear fragrances during special occasions but then I was talking to my friend one day and estate sales randomly came up. She said it was kind of sad to think about, but that she knows so many people who get really nice, high end fragrances from them. After that she decided to wear something from her collection almost everyday because you never know how long you'll get to enjoy something like that. I agreed with that sentiment and I also started wearing mine everyday, especially my favorites. Like Antonio, I enjoy them and they put me in a good mood, so why not :)
I started wearing cologne more heavily when we got an influx of Pakistani people at my job, these guys would come to work smelling like 3 weeks of unshowered body odor, you couldn't even imagine how bad it was, they would walk past you and the air would smell minutes after they left. (after several complaints the boss finally got it under control) I started getting compliments on my gourmands and I just kept to it.
I appreciate your info. However, having been trained by the various parfumeries, we’ve been taught that fragrances also interact differently with body chemistry and most companies highly encourage that fragrances should be used on the body rather than on the clothes- it’s kinda like just spraying the fragrance on an already used blotter card. Specifically because laundry detergents also have their own scents (which can counteract with the scent you use).
But he said this. That info about spraying on clothing was for the people who freak out about putting alcohol on their skin, not a recommendation of how to apply.
This is very true. When I bought my current cologne, the girl behind the counter said "I LOVE this fragrance. And it reacts with your natural pheromones, so the longer you have it on, the better it smells."
I watch a fair number of fragance videos. I think this the first time I hear a clear argumented explanation about why rubbing fragance is not good. Saludos Antonio
Im officially dumping Jeremy guys. Content content content. You know your stuff sir. A lot. This video in particular is the only fragrance video anyone needs.
As a sweaty guy, this video was a lifesaver for me. Ever since I started being more strategic with how I applied cologne I noticed it stays on much longer! Thanks for this!
"...so that the world will start to smell better." Liked the video after that! I've been interested in various scents since I discovered Polo Double Black in my grandfather's cologne cabinet as a boy. I'm pleased that you take being a classy and well-groomed gentleman so seriously, we all should.
It's so refreshing to hear a UA-camr say less is more. It seems most fragrance aficionados are so deep into their special interest, they want to push their exotic and sometimes difficult scents onto everyone around them. But applying lightly is just so much more classy. If you respect people around you, it will be so much easier to earn their respect for you.
I definitely appreciate anyone living by the "Less is more" method since I'm very scent sensitive and one of the worst things with being out and around is when you have people where it's like walking into a wall like 2 meters away.
This is just sum overthinkers like to hear, in reality it depends on the fragrance, if you're wearing polo red or nautical voyage you can literally spray it 8-12 times on you and that wouldn't be excessive, if you're wearingg sum like black afgano or mancera instant crush then obviously that's crazy, 2-4 sprays is 100% sufficient so yea it all depends on what you're about to use.
Just found your videos today. Thank you for putting together this content. I used to take great pride in how I dressed and took care of myself. Over COVID I gained 50 pounds and now I work from home. I have found that I no longer take care of myself. Your video on what heavy guys should wear really helped me. I feel like I have a renewed sense of wanting to look (and smell) my best.
What I was taught. Clean fresh scents for networking, business, or casual outings. Spray on the wrist. For dates, or romantic outing, apply on the chest and neck, usually near the jaw or ear area. Now for me personally, I like to spray a cotton ball and lightly dab to apply scents, no smearing. Keep it light, if you are applying a scent you want people to notice but you don't want to smell like you bathed in it.
1 small spray on the inside elbow of each arm 1 small spray behind each knee 1 small spray at the nape of the neck Works every time for me, lasts for hours.
@@Righteous1ist I think it depends on the type of cologne you buy as cheaper cologne works best if you spray each spot Clipper _Dames mentions but more pricey colognes you'll only need to spray just once for a long lasting fragrance.
I’m only 16 and still in high school, but I found this video because I want to smell good… overall, I learned a TON from this video. Thank you so much!
yeah dont listen to this bozo, dude. ONE spritz in the air and walking into it right after a shower is by far the best way to go about it. dont know why the clown claims the cologne will end up on the floor you can literally feel the entire cloud hit you torso and the bathroom floor wont become slick with cologne puddles lmfao none of that rubbing and sure as hell no multiple sprays (my god). just one spray. theres a reson why the bottle comes with its particular spray mechanism. use it. and another thing. DONT buy a cologne just because someone else likes it. buy a mid range priced scent that YOU like cause if you apply it properly (see above) youll be smelling it sublty all day long so you might as well like it. ive had the expensive scents and theyre no better or worse in quality or longevity than midrangers so save your money. also try to stay away from perfumed soaps and detergents. not only do they mess up your cologne's scent but those perfumes also sometimes destroy your skin and clothing.
@@TEFVoid Look into expensive brands. That's what I do to make sure I don't have the same smell as everybody else. I feel it makes me different, like rare. Every one isn't going to spend $450 & up for fragrance. Quality shit.
Great video! I like your style, Antonio. I’m relatively new to men’s fragrances. I’m old school at 69 years old and have been a Drakkar Noir man for decades. They used to sell a face balm that I loved but stopped about 5-7 years ago. Between these two products, that was my signature scent full stop. Then, about a year ago, I got a bug up my butt to explore fragrances and discovered a whole new world in the realm of fragrances that needed to be explored and taken seriously, so here I am. I have a 73-year-old neighbor who loves wearing perfume, and there is one that she wears that drives me nuts, I want to inhale her each time I see her. Her approach is akin to Curly Fragrance because I know when she is home or has just walked by my vicinity; I just love the way she smells. Antonio, your advice is solid, honest, tested, sophisticated, and real, and it is clear that you know your stuff, and that you are dedicated to the proposition of men looking and feeling their best - bravo! Having seen a ton of videos on male grooming in general, I now have consolidated my fragrance and grooming gurus down to three: You, Antonio, Demi Rawling, and your friend, Curly Fragrance who is a hoot, what a sassy babe she is! You three are now my go-to on male grooming especially on the subject of fragrance. At the advice of Demi, I recently bought L’ Homme Prada, 100ml, and with the first spray out of the box, instantly fell in love with it; it evoked precisely everything Demi described about this fragrance. Although I’m 69, I’m currently still working part-time, hence, I chose this one because it is an “office fragrance”. Next, I will be buying her recommended seasonal fragrances. The Prada fragrance is just a wonderful, bright, clean, floral, cheerful, and sexy fragrance… just as Demi described. Thanks to you all for introducing me and my nose to the wonderful world of scents! 😊
Some clarifications on naming conventions, because I noticed a few possible misinterpretations a person can make that weren't expanded upon in the video. Eau Fraiche: 1-3% Aftershave/Splash- 2-4% EDC: Eau De Cologne- 2-4% EDT: Eau De Toilette- 5-15% EDP: Eau De Parfum- 15-20% Extrait: Extrait de Parfum - 20-40+% Most of what was said is spot on, however, a fragrance that says Eau Fraiche in the name isn't always Fraiche concentration. Not saying he said this, but it wasn't further explained. It can be the naming convention of a particular fragrance. For example, Issey Miyake Eau Fraiche, or Versace Man Eau Fraiche, or Hermes Tres Eau Fraiche. None of them are Eau Fraiche concentration, they're EDT to EDP. It just means a fresher version. You have to look at the concentration and not make a decision based on the name of the fragrance. You might be missing out on some great fragrances that last a long time because you've mistakenly assumed that they're of a lower concentration. Lastly, regarding extrait de parfum as this one always confuses people thanks to companies who market perfumes as "Le parfum" or "parfum" because they know people will think it's stronger. YSL's le parfum appears to be shown as an example of an Extrait, or pure parfum (perhaps not on purpose), but it is not. It's an Eau De Parfum, not Extrait De Parfum. Just like JPG's Le Male Le Parfum, Sauvage Parfum, Eros Parfum, Bleu De Chanel Parfum, etc etc. All of these are Eau de Parfum and not Extrait de Parfum. There's a ton of frags with this name attached to it that aren't extraits. Some are even EDTs. You get the idea. They're just naming conventions made to trick you into thinking they last longer. It's pretty rare to find an extrait strength perfume from a designer house as that's often niche house territory, so don't be confused by the "parfum" name the designer brand adds. Nasomattos 30ML of Pardon, for example, is a true Extrait de Parfum from a niche house. (Highly recommended ultra masculine frag btw) Bonus tip: As an alternative to the neck, right above your collarbones under your shirt is one of the best locations to spray as they're high heat locations because they're right by the subclavian arteries, and unlike the neck, is hidden from light, so they will pump out your fragrance harder, while also lasting longer. Fragrances when exposed to sunlight dissipate and breakdown quicker. (also why it's best to store fragrances in a dark location, or at least away from sunlight. Artificial is fine. UV is the issue.) Hopefully this helped anyone new to fragrances. Cheers!
Does spray distance of atomizer from skin affect projection of fragrance? Most of the fragrances in my collection are dense, EDP’s, Parfums or Middle Eastern Rose/Oud’s which don’t seem to project well on my oily skin?! How can I apply dense or higher fragrance concentrations with better performance? Cooler areas such as the wrist, seem to hamper fragrance development into the base notes. Applying to my neck (warmer?!) gives better fragrance progression, unless I become noseblind! Any suggestions are greatly appreciated!
As a newbie to the fragrance game, I view a variety of videos, read my share of reviews, etc., all to feel as though I'm approaching a purchase with some sort of "informed" opinion. Because of that, I'm very appreciative of all input from knowledgeable sources. Thanks.
You learn something new every day...up until this morning I did the rubbing thing. Great advice and passion - no wonder he started his own range of colognes!
For me applying to the back of my neck and ears works best . A lot of good advice ! It made me think of my journey as a collector. I used to over spray and go nose blind . As my collection has grown over the years i learned that when I get used to smelling something that I don’t enjoy it as much . I Gotta use my favorites here and there especially when they are discontinued that way it makes it all the more invigorating !
I really do appreciate someone wearing a clean, refreshing cologne in a work environment. Oftentimes, it's an enduring fragrance that whips you right through a time machine.
I'm a woman but... same thing right? My perfume never seems to last and this is the best presented video I've found so far, even if I'm not quite the target audience 😅 Thank you!
Tbh anyone can wear fragrence Fellow woman here this video helped me too And tbh i dont think the way you spray is gendered exacly so this video is helpfull for anyone
Your comment really applies to me. Everything i know about male grooming has come from trial and error. I grew up with my mom as my only parent/life teacher. I'm 51 and still have no idea if I'm doing anything right.
@@jadeduh4555 the younger generation after generation X. After that generation divorce and single motherhood became much more celebrated, and traditional marriage and families mocked. I know what you were trying to imply though. Nice try but nope
@@Godric_71 yep and my parents stayed together. My dad thought his job stopped with working though. He never cared about style , fragrances etc so I never learned about any of that until the last 10 years, well after he died . Sad really. I’m 51 as well
@@Tbone3471 🤨 OK..? What exactly am I implying with my question? Lol Since you know a lot, which of the three generations do I fall into? And my mother being single didn't affect me already knowing (having common sense) how to apply any fragrance. My girl wears her body spray over her person before she walks out the door. (Lmfao! Idiots huh) 🤷🏻♂
I’ve been wearing a parfum for almost a year and wore it on my clothes not my skin, i missed the latter notes of my cologne and now that I’m doing it correctly i realized why i loved this one so much, it has SUCH complex smells!
I work in fragrance retail / sales. We use scent strips, and while I do generally advise customers to test the skin. I always lead by scent strips to identify favorable traits in the product beforehand. It's few and far between that I get richly experienced folks who know what they really want.
This is the first guy I totally agree with when it comes to cologne. Nice to know that I was instinctively using cologne the right way from the get go.
You skimmed past this, but putting on after moisturiser is a great tip. Unscented moisturiser of course, so it sits on the skin as opposed to soaking into dry skin🤙
Thank you for the video! My dad died when I was 11 and mom was gone so I was never taught! You’ve taught me so much over the years I’ve been subscribed!
15 sprays and I could careless what anyone thinks. I follow every step of these routines. Shower , shave, exfoliate, moisturize and scent up daily. That includes going to the gym. I never stink and get compliments daily. And dress well causally and professionally daily. He has fantastic insight. 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
This is what works for me: moisturize area of fragrance application with a good unscented lotion, 1 to 2 sprays on all pulse points inc. mid wrist. Inner elbows, sides and back of neck, clothes for weak fragrances. If the fragrance us beast mode only two to three sprays on chosen pulse points.
This has got to be one of the classiest channels on UA-cam. A channel that educates men how to smell like a gentleman. I love it because it hips me to scents I haven't tried yet. I always get compliments from men and women about how great I smell. I will forward this to other men whom I know will appreciate it.
There's 2 basic forms of applying fragrance: simple & composite. For simple layering, there's 2 ways: simple.1- spray once on each wrist, let air dry + if using all day, spray once, lrt air dry & spray once again; Simple.2- same principles as noted but use an unscented moisturizer if you bathe w/hot water. Composite layering is using 2 fragrances to make a more intense or less intense scent, hence the word composite which means to compose like a musical composition.
This may sound weird, but when I get home from work and go to work out, the cologne I put on in the morning really starts to resonate as I build a sweat. So I can enjoy that as I'm working out. I only found this to be the case when I started wearing higher quality colognes though.
I've realized that with a good amount of colognes too, it just makes sense that perfumers would tailor their product to the seasons and work a way to incorporate the smell no matter what BO your body is releasing(oil, sweat, etc).
As your body heats up it starts vaporizing the oils more. The reason it doesn't happen with the cheap ones is likely because they're less strong so they've already evaporated off during your work day
Pressing the fragrance together to lightly spread it around is perfectly fine! Vigorous rubbing is totally different and not advised. Page 46 “ Perfumes: the a-z Guide” by Luca Turin an Tania Sanchez.
Great video. Another mistake that people make is layering two fragrances on top of each other. When I layer i put one fragrances on the left side of the body (hand, arm and neck) and the other fragrance on the right side so that both fragrances can go thru the natural dry down progression without molecules being mixed together.
I do the same sometimes, one on the right arm and the other on the left. But now I'm curious about how they would scent on top of each other, probably not good, but I'm curious.
Oh my. You said the quote of the century regarding this. No lie. _"I like to be discovered, not announced, when I'm wearing cologne"._ Thank you! Sincerely, Women
There are many gents that should see this very beneficial video! Can’t say how many times their cologne was severely overpowering. This video can change bad cologne habits!! Well done sir!
Love the channel. Your advise is practical and easy to follow. I forward these to my son in the Air Force who is just starting the manhood journey. I’m in my 50’s and I’m learning new stuff all the time. Keep up the good work👍🏻
Every time I wear Dior Savage, I get a compliment! Every time! It just works with my natural body scent. In Summer, the original Armani Acqua Di Gio always gets noticed. Love them both.
I haven't watched the video (yet) but mostly just dumbfounded by the fact that there's a 20min video on how to apply cologne, just proves how terribly wrong people are with cologne😅 Truly as professional as it gets. 👏
I watched it and I still don't know the right way to apply cologne. I know what mistakes not to make though. Edit: I found it. He mentions it in between mistake #4 & 5
I take a bath every morning and apply cologne about 10min after, that's already my morning routine. HOWEVER, I live in a tropical country. More precisely, I live in a hot and very humid part of the country, with 27°C average temperature (81F) and about 80% air humidity. So I feel like colognes simply don't last very long here. Is there any trick for someone who live in those conditions to have their scent last longer?
Im elderly and really can't smell. I am a chef but must ask my wife to taste everything. I shy away from fragrances because by the time I can smell it, it's overwhelming. What should I do?
I used to apply fragrances only on special occasions because they're so expensive but now I've started to use them more thanks to this channel. These videos are really good and informative.
There are lots of good smelling cheaper costing fragrances now. I feel if I go to the trouble to shower, shave, and use deodorant, why not wear a fragrance and smell good too!
@@toddhatch6826 You're totally right. I do like the more expensive ones. I might get cheaper ones in the future that I can wear more often and a few more expensive ones that I'll wear on special occasions
I never leave the house without putting on fragrance. I got so used to it that I feel naked if I'm not wearing one. Use them and abuse them my man, just don`t apply too much so you don`t suffocate people around you lol.
Check out Ross, TLTG, on you tube. He specializes in lower. price fragrances, colones, designer as well as lower price nece. He puts out two or more videos everyday!
Easy rule to remember..For fresh clean citrusy summer type scents spray 15+ times if you want your scent to project and have people be able to smell it. For super heavy dark winter style scents and gourmands only spray 2-5 sprays max
Thank you for this video. I was looking hard for excellent cologne hygiene etiquette because I want to wear cologne that literally draws women to you. I like the phrase of "being discovered versus being announced"
I’ve had some decent scents in my life. Then I got a relatively inexpensive one from Target. It’s a company called Cremo. The fragrance is Blue Cedar & Cypress. People LOVE it. I get compliments from people on it all the time. Maybe it works great with my chemistry.
Yes. The chemistry is everything. Some think you should spend hundreds of dollars for the «best» but you can buy the cheapest as long as they fit your chemistry. Expensive can still smell horrible as there is no way of knowing how the body reacts and sweat adapt too it
Thank you for this video. Many of these thoughts and suggestions hadn’t crossed my mind. I have two of my own that may be helpful too. The small cloth swatches that many people discard, I pin them to the back side of my tie and apply my cologne there. Easy to change out fragrances , and minimal chance to discolor my clothing. I also found that this has the added affect of presenting anew when I open my jacket to sit, or when standing up and buttoning my jacket at meetings.
Have always had many fragrances for different reasons and events. One thing I learned after decades of dating is listen to comments made by your dates and friends. Women in all kinds of situations made comments for instance powder scented colognes seem to have negative comments from women at least in my case or they also had allergy or reactions to them by being close. Sneezing eyes burn etc. And would politely let me know that particular scent wasn't for me they would say and bothered them a little. So I remembered that and usually discarded it. Then others would comment more positively about leather and woods style scents. Seems like though I enjoy many scents to use for different days and nights that many men no longer use any scent. And sometimes men with me will comment somewhat negatively or sarcastically about me wearing a cologne or scent. But regardless I still have a daily routine after every shower to decide what I will wear that day and do so. But women most definetly react and do appreciate a great scent. Even my masseuse at the gym from Costa Rica really appreciates a scent and considers it a show of real class and style. Good site.
As someone who has allergies but does like to apply fragrances, it's a balance. Certain notes or putting too much on will cause my allergies to act up, whereas others I'm fine with. I need to start building my collection again lol.
One thing to watch out for is putting on fragrances on your skin in the high heat, especially directly in the sun. Which almost ruined my holiday in Spain back in the day, after wearing fragrances on the beach during a heatwave, leaving me covered with painfully burning red spots for over a week. Apparently I didn't learn my lesson, for doing the same thing last week, again still covered with these burning red spots on my nek, chest and arms, even after a week. 🙄 Just spray it on your clothes and of course hair (i.e. when only wearing swimwear).
Of course I did use sunblock. 🤔 They were different types of burns, and they were in the neck and chest (never naturally burned at these spots), exactly where I sprayed the fragrance. 😎
Absolutely fascinating! I have studied fragrance use from a feminine perspective, so it's awesome to hear the way you explained things! I love having the men in my life smell GOOD! And I have worked with them to find their signature fragrance, which was a lot of fun! Thanks, I look forward to future videos from you!
funny thing i never got a compliment for a high priced Parfume, but when i once bought a 7€ Parfume i got complimented about it. I mean i found both smelling amazing otherwise i wouldn't have bought them but sometimes it's a little bit mind boggling
Living in Cambodia I've sifted through many cheap copies. So far I've found a neat perfect copy of Paco blue XS, AdQ absolu, and Azzaro wanted. $5 a bottle and I get compliments. They don't last as long but they are so close most people wouldn't know the difference.
When I was younger I used to use a lot of parfum, and the best and most expensive ones. Nowadays I can not use most of the scents. Yes, I became allergic to most of them and give me a terrible headache. Wanna a tip? Always go slow with them. Use 1 or max 2 sprays. Good luck.
I typically use 1 pump on my shirt in the chest area, and 1 to 2 around my collar area. My go to fragrances are usually Curve Crush or Lucky You. They're both pretty cheap, and I get plenty of compliments.
Not hating those are good scents but imo those were played out over 10 years ago. Give the light blue YSL a try and I bet you will get much more compliments. I'm looking to find something as good because I've been using this one for a few years now at least.
This is so great! While I don't believe in wearing cologne everyday and in every situation-- you are fantastic! This is a great guide and you cover a lot of ground when you got to layering I was like wow he's going into that too wow awesome awesome awesome. I will definitely check out your performance enhancing line--very clever!
I have to be honest I started wearing it on my clothes 30 years ago after reading it in a magazine! And the 1 fragrance in all them years that woman ask me about is Calvin Klein Escape for men and my wife loves it , I have been wearing it since it came out in the early 90s . I know it's on the cheaper end but it must be popular it's been out 30 years and it's only about £40 Great video 😃
I'm allergic to most fragrances but luckily found one I don't get nausea and migraines from. But I don't wear it very often because I'm not a very social person.
Man thanks for the knowledge and education. I thought that the smaller transportable atomizer was so very cool. Where can I get a couple few of those? Thanks again 👍
Very informative video. One additional topic that would have been good to include is the shelf life of these products since that is something that factors into the quality of the scents.
The fact when you showed the “Bleu de Chanel” and said have you worn a fragrance and didn’t get a compliment. Man….I felt that. I have the EDT version of that and it’s extremely lack luster unless you bathe in it, and it barely lasts
@@kstuckey8 alright brother thanks for your response. I too have the EDT bdC but the performance is quite bad so I will definitely be trying out the parfum version soon
@@googleprofile6660 I own the parfum version and it is slightly better performance wise but still isn’t beast mode. It’s just a more concentrated, deeper/heavier scent. It’s definitely the best of the 3 BDC’s in my opinion. Hope this helps.
This was comprehensive and well done , and so much better explained than Jeremy Fragrance’s repeated 5 spray routine. It really does depend on the fragrance and situation.
first guy to not reccomend 4-7 sprays with cologne, i wish i saw this earlier, as the first time i used cologne i oversprayed and was stuck in a car with 4 other people
Exactly depends upon you. Today i put on close to 12 sprays of John Varvatos Artisan Pure. After that me and my sister went down and sat in her car. After driving for 5.minutes i asked whether it was too much. She told me she could sorta smell it but it wasn't strong at all. Even beast mode fragrances on me perform like a 5 day old cat
so i was interested in this girl she was not wearing mask when i drive her so what i did is i spray heavy perfume in my body then i wear a mask....about 15 min or so shes not waking up. Just last year i repaired my basement to outmost perfection.
Excellent presentation and I love that mid-western accent. I use two varieties of fragrance. An eau de cologne and an eau de toilette but of a different brand. And I always spray the cologne under the shirt collar for the fragrance to last that bit longer.
Interesting channel with a lot of great info. I’m subscribing because I heard you say Lennox Mall so I assume your in Atlanta which is where I am. What’s up neighbor 😂
I have a scent that I love but if I spray it on my chest over my cloths, just one spray will give me a headache all day. I started spraying three sprays in the air and walking through it and I don’t get a headache anymore. What should I do?
I really wanna confess that as a kid I loved wearing my mom’s perfumes. Elizabeth Arden was my favourite until my favor fell on Dolce x Gabbanna when my dad bought me some perfumes
I appreciate this video and channel. Prior to watching, my lady said she loved two scents I’ve worn and this video helped me understand how to use them effectively without wasting. Currently have a collection of 5 fragrances
Always something new - thank you Antonio! Spraying on head's hair has a practical advantage... Going for a date you may get your counterpart kissing your neck, chest whatever and tasting perfume is not the best idea:)
I've had great results in spraying it directly into the eyeballs to keep it from radiating too much. No one's ever complained about it being overwhelmingly strong so far.
Recently got the Versace Eros and the Nautica Voyage and I used some of these tips and everyone comes up to me and I absolutely love it!! I use 2-3 when inside, 4 if I’m outside 🤙👍
I will wear anything regardless of who it's marketed towards. This past spring and summer I loved Dylan Purple and Eros from Versace and both supposedly womens perfunmes. To me they are fruity, sweet and fun, everything I wanted from a summer fragrance. Now we're moving towards autumn I've started to wear Stronger With You Intensely and today I picked up some Dior Homme Intense. Funnily enough when the assistant sprayed it on the tester strip I hated it but she gave me a tester and I gave it a try. I really dislike the top notes but as soon as the heart and base notes come through it's heaven.
Under "Mistake #7," you talk about finding what works for YOU. First, I feel like I don't have the most discerning sense of smell; I don't pick up on things as much as say my girlfriend does, and second, once I have a fragrance on me, it's not long before I become "nose blind" to it, and I can hardly tell it's still on me, let alone how it may have changed on ME over time. How would you advise really learning how a given fragrance performs - and on ME - short of just frequently asking my girlfriend?
Chest definitely yes, but my tip for "back of the neck". Reach behind you and hold your collar a little bit away from your skin. Then spray down your back (not your shirt - you have to check the atomizer direction first) in one medium to small spray. Applies scent to base of the neck and the big heat zone between your shoulder blades. Good sillage without being overbearing. Your mileage may vary, but works for me.
I typically spray 2 on the chest/front delt area. One on the back, and my wrists. Also, thank you for the dont rub tip, i typically rub to spread on my wrists. I didnt know about the layered note thing
It ruins skin and hair, you should be showering every other day, got healthy skin and hair, your body adapts to how often you shower after a week or 2 so your oils and sweat will be crazy the first few days
I shower once a week and I'm not a person who has strong body odor. I do this because the water in my house burns my skin and I don't like it. But I am pretty clean and I don't get sick really.
When you spray the cologne on your skin it automatically mixes with your skin oil. Nothing gets dissipated, nothing in the bottle of cologne separates when you let it sit. No Cologne is gunna smell the way it was intended BECAUSE it interacts with you skin. Nothing in the smell disappears when you rub it, in fact, creating extra friction would cause the smell to increase in intensity. And should the smells you believe would disappear not come through? Well that's because the cologne wasn't made balanced/properly. I'd like to see a real scientific study supporting your rubbing claims, because honestly this sounds like a load of BS. Minus that, you give some good info.
Yea I have to agree with you. I've always heard colognes are made to interact with the natural oil in your skin. Only part i agree with him is not spraying it in your clothes cuz might be hard to wash out.
I've built up quite a collection of fragrances thanks to your channel so thank you. invictus victory is my current fav just now but I always go back to le male, especially the parfum version of it.x
Shower, moisturize, then spray your perfume. People don't realize how bad the alcohol in perfume is for your skin health. If your skin health is poor, the oils won't sit on the skin and dissipate the way they're designed to. Don't spray close to your nose. Switch up your perfume. You will get used to a fragrance and won't even notice it but you'll be making your coworkers gag. When I see negative reviews, I imagine they are making these mistakes.
Another piece of crucial advice; save your money, look for clones. As always, these fragrances are not trademarked, you can't own a smell, you can only own the look and shape of the bottle its in. With that posted, always look for clones. I've had several Aventus Creed clones, that have fooled owners of the juice. I've owned a bottle as well, and seriously can't tell the difference. Wearing cologne should never be about breaking the bank, or buying blindly because someone gave it 5 stars, clones are your best friends, cheap, easily accessible and always come in generous amounts. Also decants should be looked into, tester sprays that cost very little to give you a general smell of what you're looking for.
@@vandalg282but it just doesn’t sit well mentally. It feels like something worse. Worse ingredients, worse concentration ratios etc. They don’t have to make it good if it’s a cheap copy.
I have one of the best dupes of Aventus, several people who have owned it, and I always get the same comments "nice, Creed", or "Is that Aventus?". Again, if you do your research, you can find a nice dupe of any smell. Its all essential oils and water....the perfumer owns the bottle not the smells.

Applying perfume on lotion is not ideal. The alcohol in the perfume ends up breaking down the lotion.
It should be down the other around. Apply the perfume let it settle then apply the lotion. This locks in the perfume longer on the body

Better to be discovered, than be announced. So true, well said boss.

True 👍

It's so refreshing to hear a UA-camr say less is more. It seems most fragrance aficionados are so deep into their special interest, they want to push their exotic and sometimes difficult scents onto everyone around them. But applying lightly is just so much more classy. If you respect people around you, it will be so much easier to earn their respect for you.
I definitely appreciate anyone living by the "Less is more" method since I'm very scent sensitive and one of the worst things with being out and around is when you have people where it's like walking into a wall like 2 meters away.
less is more but made a 20 minute video for 2 minutes of info...
Love the ones who say less is more and then proceed to recommend 7 sprays

This is just sum overthinkers like to hear, in reality it depends on the fragrance, if you're wearing polo red or nautical voyage you can literally spray it 8-12 times on you and that wouldn't be excessive, if you're wearingg sum like black afgano or mancera instant crush then obviously that's crazy, 2-4 sprays is 100% sufficient so yea it all depends on what you're about to use.

Some clarifications on naming conventions, because I noticed a few possible misinterpretations a person can make that weren't expanded upon in the video.
Eau Fraiche: 1-3%
Aftershave/Splash- 2-4%
EDC: Eau De Cologne- 2-4%
EDT: Eau De Toilette- 5-15%
EDP: Eau De Parfum- 15-20%
Extrait: Extrait de Parfum - 20-40+%
Most of what was said is spot on, however, a fragrance that says Eau Fraiche in the name isn't always Fraiche concentration.
(Highly recommended ultra masculine frag btw)
Bonus tip: As an alternative to the neck, right above your collarbones under your shirt is one of the best locations to spray as they're high heat locations because they're right by the subclavian arteries, and unlike the neck, is hidden from light, so they will pump out your fragrance harder, while also lasting longer. Fragrances when exposed to sunlight dissipate and breakdown quicker. (also why it's best to store fragrances in a dark location, or at least away from sunlight. Artificial is fine. UV is the issue.)
Hopefully this helped anyone new to fragrances.
Thanks.

For me applying to the back of my neck and ears works best . A lot of good advice ! It made me think of my journey as a collector. I used to over spray and go nose blind . I Gotta use my favorites here and there especially when they are discontinued that way it makes it all the more invigorating !

Discovered, not announced! Truest words. Thank you for teaching more people not to gas everyone out.
I always wondered if having two smells was possible… So not on top of each other but opposite sides. But then what two make a good combination?

I’ve had some decent scents in my life. Then I got a relatively inexpensive one from Target. It’s a company called Cremo. The fragrance is Blue Cedar & Cypress. People LOVE it. I get compliments from people on it all the time. Maybe it works great with my chemistry.
The Cremo Bourbon Vanilla is really good also.
I love their beard oils
Just spray it on your clothes and of course hair (i.e. when only wearing swimwear).
Or use sunblock!
Um hello, have you ever thought about maybe just using some SUNBLOCK 🧴
Of course I did use sunblock. 🤔
They were different types of burns, and they were in the neck and chest (never naturally burned at these spots), exactly where I sprayed the fragrance. 😎

You can't lose with either of those fragrances.
I know it's on the cheaper end but it must be popular it's been out 30 years and it's only about £40
Great video 😃
Good news, you’ve got a wife, no need for cologne anymore, maybe save that money and use it on a Netflix subscription or something
If the store carries them properly (which they most likely will as they arent super demanding), they should last pretty damn long
The fact when you showed the “Bleu de Chanel” and said have you worn a fragrance and didn’t get a compliment. Man….I felt that. I have the EDT version of that and it’s extremely lack luster unless you bathe in it, and it barely lasts
What about the parfum version?
@@googleprofile6660 I have yet to try the parfum but I believe that’ll be my next purchase whenever I run out of the EDT
@@christaylor3911 Thanks bro. Would you be able to recommend any fragrances that offer beast like performance? Thanks again
This was comprehensive and well done , and so much better explained than Jeremy Fragrance’s repeated 5 spray routine. It really does depend on the fragrance and situation.
No one who takes fragrances even remotely seriously pays any attention to Jeremy "it's ZUPER SEXY" Fragrance.
Thought I knew about fragrances until I watched this video. Great job on this!
first guy to not reccomend 4-7 sprays with cologne, i wish i saw this earlier, as the first time i used cologne i oversprayed and was stuck in a car with 4 other people
Exactly depends upon you.
Moisturize your skin
so i was interested in this girl she was not wearing mask when i drive her so what i did is i spray heavy perfume in my body then i wear a mask....about 15 min or so shes not waking up.
Just last year i repaired my basement to outmost perfection.
@@witchking008 is she the one that did that to your face?
Refreshing to know that I’ve been putting it on correctly since my early 20’s.
Excellent video with plenty of useful information. I shared this with my husband and certainly these tips are applicable for women as well 👍🏻
Excellent presentation and I love that mid-western accent. I use two varieties of fragrance. An eau de cologne and an eau de toilette but of a different brand. And I always spray the cologne under the shirt collar for the fragrance to last that bit longer.
Been looking for a video like this for weeks. Thank you!
Gotta give it to you, Antonio. Your content is top tier. Thank you for putting this together. Super easy concepts to grasp and to put into practice.
Interesting channel with a lot of great info. I’m subscribing because I heard you say Lennox Mall so I assume your in Atlanta which is where I am. What’s up neighbor 😂
Agreed!
Negative. There is bad advice on here and misinformation.
I have a scent that I love but if I spray it on my chest over my cloths, just one spray will give me a headache all day. I started spraying three sprays in the air and walking through it and I don’t get a headache anymore. What should I do?
Do what you are comfortable with, generalized rules are not for everyone
Doing that way Diffuses your cologne/parfum…
You get headache because you are spraying where you will be smelling it yourself the most.
I really wanna confess that as a kid I loved wearing my mom’s perfumes. Elizabeth Arden was my favourite until my favor fell on Dolce x Gabbanna when my dad bought me some perfumes
Sameeee hahaha 😭 touché 😊
I appreciate this video and channel. Prior to watching, my lady said she loved two scents I’ve worn and this video helped me understand how to use them effectively without wasting. Currently have a collection of 5 fragrances
I apply vaseline behind the neck and then apply the scent. It lasts longer since the scent is not absorbed. And vaseline is good for the skin...
The Versace Eros is my go to..
Was given Spicebomb as a gift, absolutely love it. It's become my signature scent.
I LOVE dylan purple by versace too!!
Never knew putting on cologne had techniques to it. You learn something everyday. Subbed.
Palmers CoCo butter lotion is my go to 🤷🏽♂️
0:13 Marty Robbins dude on the left highly suggest if you like old western sounding songs
Thank you for telling them to shower daily, lol can't understand why people don't. They must Love their own BO (FUNK).
i shower monthly, thats enough
@@konradschaubert5520 average league of legends and genshin impact player
It ruins skin and hair, you should be showering every other day, got healthy skin and hair, your body adapts to how often you shower after a week or 2 so your oils and sweat will be crazy the first few days
I shower once a week and I'm not a person who has strong body odor. I do this because the water in my house burns my skin and I don't like it. But I am pretty clean and I don't get sick really.
Maybe the shower daily is a more western thing ? Most people i know bathe once or twice a week and it's enough
Perfectly put.. I found the Aventus really good but the time period is really small..
If you're wearing a fragrance and you're not getting compliments, you're doing something right.
This is helpful content for a beginner. Nice guidance.
Living in New York you definitely want the world to smell better. Smashing that like!
