    I have watched every video about dreads and yours is the best! You saved me a ton of fear and heartbreak! Love dreads but afraid to do my whole head because of the weight, my job, missing my normal hair etc. so, I dreaded just the bottom half and absolutely LOVE IT!! Thank you sooooo much for saving me from myself.♥️

    I've finally just gotten my partial dreads and i've been dreading (see what i did there lol) to have it installed for a year now and now I won't have to suffer with my boring hair anymore!

    Thumbs up :)
    The reason why you don't have the separation issue is because your dreads are already 3 years mature.
    Young partial dreads have the tendency to suck in loose surrounding hair (& of the dread itself) especially after washing.

      Why thank you for the thumbs up and watching! Yes yes this indeed does make sense. I should have mentioned that scenario for others depending on what phase they are in on their journey. 💙✌🕉

    Love the partials! I have 12 and since my hair is thickest on the top I still have most of that thickness. It is indeed the best of both worlds, my partner loves both textures and says it just fits me perfect. I finally have hair thickness that I always wanted. Since my hair doesn’t tangle the easiest, I’m glad the roots don’t tend to tangle outside their section.

      Wonderful! So glad you have embrassed the "best of both worlds" look for yourself 😁. It is indeed a preference none the less. Thanks for watching love!

    I've had dreads for 3 years now and I'm going to switch to partial. I hate my normal hair but my dreads are so thick and heavy that it gives me headaches and neck pain every day. Plus it's stopped me from getting the jobs I want :( I'm hoping my hair has adjusted enough to not need to be washed every day like before I had dreads!

    • @emmawelsh5336

      Hi Emily. How did you find going from full dreads to partials? I'm the same as you 3 years of full dreads. I don't find them heavy but because of my hair texture they're just such high maintenance even after 3 years. I also noticed some thinning of my hair due to the fact I have to wear my dreads up at work. I'm terrified that when I brush them out ill discover my hair is ruined but fingers crossed 😂

    • @emchanted13
      @emchanted13 2 роки тому

      @@emmawelsh5336 honestly if I had left mine any longer than I did, my hair would of been ruined. It was a rough journey and I don't miss them. I'm actually extremely thankful and relieved to have normal hair again. Even partial dreads are too much effort for me - if not more effort than a full head honestly. I hope you find what works for you. Trust your gut! Good luck 👍

      Exactly. I had full dreads for 4 years down to my waist. Lots of heavy congos. I was having awful neck pain. I cut them all off about 8 years ago & now I’ve got some partial natural dreads. I love them.

    Thank you for this video. I have a full head of dreads and I've been thinking about brushing out the top half for ages but I couldn't bring myself to do it. I think I'm finally ready to do it. I don't know why it feels like such a big deal. But this video helped me decide and your hair looks gorgeous.

    Thank you for this! I agree that partials are a great choice. My hair is fine and curly, so the dreads give nice volume, and more style options... I do find, because my loose hair is curly, that the dreads are kind of like velco to my hair, and I have to be mindful about separating it out or they get tangled together. I also do use separate products, because my loose hair has different needs. Overall, any new routines became habits quickly, and it is so worth it. Your dreads are lovely!

    Can you show us your partial dreads from the back please. When your hair is down, it hides your dreads from the front very well. Was just wondering how that looked from the back.

      I want to do partial dreads sooo bad but I’m scared.... what if I get tired of them?? What if they look terrible on me? 😳😬😅Then I’d have to cut all my hair. I’ve been growing it out since 2015 and it’s finally so long. Ahh man... if I lived close to you I’d ask you to help me put them in ☺️❤️ I don’t know anyone else who has dreads. #shelteredlife

I have oodles of videos to walk you through each of those choices 💙 I'd be honored to do your dreads if you lived closer HAH.

    hello! i want to get dreads as soon as the current crisis has passed and am leaning towards partials as I love the way it looks. I've had a full set of double-ended extensions before, and after a year switched to half "normal hair" half extensions but I struggled more with hairstyles. Could you post a hairstyle vid with partials to help me with this? You mention doing one in this video but I can't find it :( I have naturally curly hair but sometimes straighten it. I love the way yours look and will do something similar :)

    I've started out with partial dreads. while the dreads are maturing, the loose top hair tries to knot in with the dreads, so it hurts pulling them apart. I have to constantly pull them apart and make sure my normal hair is brushed.

    • @HippieHousewife
      @HippieHousewife  Рік тому

      Yes I do understand this process for sure and agree 100%! It also depends on the type of hair texture that you have and how often you need to separate the maturing dreadlocks to make sure they do not knot up and interlock with one another. Good luck to you and I hope that you have found a good remedy and routine at this point to help!

    I was thinking about getting some dreads but I like thick dreads and I have thin hair. Will that leave alot of scap showing? If so, should I get DE dreads to cover the empty spots?

    • @HippieHousewife
      @HippieHousewife  Рік тому +1

      If you have thin hair, I would recommend doing a layer of different sizes. For example...Skinnier smaller dreads towards the crown of your head. Middle section doing slightly larger and then towards the base of your head doing your biggest thickest ones. This will help evenly distribute the sizes with your hair type and managing not having or showing bald spots or random areas that don't blend well together. I hope this was helpful and thank you so much for watching!

    Just did 15 over the past few days. My hair is currently naturally reaching my butt. I'm worried my dreads will shrink and be shorter than my top half.. am I going to have to get extentions eventually? Or just cut the top half of my hair? Lol

    • @HippieHousewife
      @HippieHousewife  4 роки тому

      I am uncertain lol...depends on the ratio of your hair growth vs the dreads shrinking? You may want to trim your hair slowly over time as you monitor the length your dreads shrink perhaps...before deciding on extensions maybe. Hope this tip helps! xoxo
