Your style is exactly what Im looking for. I dont want my scalp showing. I have long hair and just want a few locks scattered under my free hair. I love your style. Thanks for sharing!
I’m doing partial dreads this weekend and I am *soooooo* heckin excited. I’ve been watching videos for a week about dreadlocks and I’m so hyped! I’m glad I came across your videos!
Thank you for making this! I have had mine 7 years. I love them. I'm not ready to give them up but I have been disliking the top of my scalp head area more and more. I recently decided maybe something like this could be an option for me with put commuting to anything!! But I am terrified and REALLLLY wanted to see a very clear picture of where and what to do with my sections! Thank you thank you!!!
I will help you darling, don"t you worry. Have confidence in yourself and keep doing your research. As promised, I will create an updated video for you to better help explain the process and show you my newest results...now almost 3-4 years into partial dreadlocks.
I would love to see your results now. I'm going Friday and starting my partial dreadlock journey. Just trying to think about if I have 4 dreads on bottom row how many should I have on my second row and 3rd row. Not sure how high I want to go up.
i absolutely love how you explained everything perfectly in this video. cant we get an upclose update of the top/sides/back/front. i know you added a few more and im dying to see it
Thank you so kindly! I appreciate the support and am grateful to be able to have helped you! Please reach out again on an update of your progress! I am about to launch a few new videos with my subscribers and supporters in mind and would love to give a shout out to you in my new content if you are comfortable with me doing so.
your video was pretty informative. Its been a fickle B trying to find anything to understand how to section hair with a side part for partial dreads. however this gave me some better insight and a Hard No on dreads behind the ears lol
Oh my goodness I love your comment! lol I am sooo very happy and grateful that I was able to be helpful to you and your journey. I get it for sure and have been there, the very reason why I chose to share information such as this video in hopes to help others in the same boat.
This was SOO FREAKING HELPFUL for me! Thank you so much. You are absolutely stunning. Your hair is my exact goals girl :) it’ll take years but I’m patient ;) merry Christmas!
Awww!! I am so honored! Thank you for your love and support of this video and my channel...I am so very glad that this video was helpful to you on your journey. Wishing you the very best on accomplishing your goals and aspirations! XoXo
This was exactly what I was looking for! I’m now a new subscriber and really appreciate your videos! Keep going 😘 And I don’t say “blah blah blah”. Love that reference !!
you probably dont care but does someone know of a way to get back into an Instagram account? I was dumb forgot the login password. I would appreciate any tips you can give me
@Adrien Alex Thanks so much for your reply. I got to the site through google and im waiting for the hacking stuff atm. Looks like it's gonna take quite some time so I will get back to you later with my results.
Thank you so much for this video. It was incredibly helpful for me. I want to dread my hair so bad, it's curly and I wear it up all the time anyway because I work a lot, but idk about putting that much weight on my head lol but you just helped me make my decision to do partials 😁
Thanks for watching love! Me too! I have learned a great deal about parting compared to 3 years ago when I had that "just go for it" attitude when making my dreads lol
@@HippieHousewife my partials are in three rows and to keep them away from my ears they are in the shape of a horseshoe. In a picture it doesn't really look that way. ---- - - - - - - - - - Kinda like that shape LOL
How many dreads do you need for partial dreads? I have made my own. A mix for single and double. But I only have around 40. I have more hair to make more. But...I just don't want to get started, realize I don't have enough because I'm using synthetic hair and each dread takes up to an hour to make so if I get started and dont have enough, it may be a few days before I'm even able to make enough to finish. (I'm making them from old clip in extensions that I cut into dread sizes, cut the clip off, crocheted it all except the top part. When I got to the top, I cut the sewn in ridge, crossed the hair at the top and crocheted it into a loop to make single end dread. I then bought kanekalon hair to make double ended dreads and crocheted those BUT EACH ONE OF THESE DREADS TAKE UP TO AN HOUR EACH TO REALLY GET A GOOD, UNIFORM LOOK. Then to 'seal' them, I dip each one into boiling water and hang dry.) For those who want to make your own dreads: I recommend buying "Wool Roving" ( or roving wool) to make them. Seriously. Synthetic hair is SO HARD TO DREAD. You do get a more natural looking dread, with frayed sides and they aren't uniform and neat--just like natural dreads. Where as the wool very smooth, very light, very neat and tidy. How to make them from wool: •pot of THE HOTTEST WATER your hands can stand • put fragrance and dye free liquid laundry detergent ( just a bit) in pot • put microfiber towel on lap or whatever surface you're using. Make sure it can't move around. Take a section of your wool front the rest. How much depends on how thick you want dread. Place neatly in pot and make sure it's thoroughly wet and stays together. Pull out wool and wring water out ( not all of it). Place wet wool on towel and use finger tips to roll it back and forth... maje sure to work I sections abd make it uniform. When it's taken good shape, palm roll it. The more you roll it, the tighter the dread gets and you don't want it loose because it'll rip apart. Depending on if you want double or single ends you have to leave room for the loop. Hang to dry. Replace your. Water and soap frequently as it cools down quickly. Wool dreads are lighter, neater, and only take about 10 minutes to roll into one.
I can’t wait to see the finished look too! I think you are going for exactly what I want in this video but I’m deathly afraid of trying to brush some dreads out because I do have extensions & the length of my dreads are past my tush! Won’t it look weird to have shorter hair on top? The face framing hair that I have falls at about chin length.. I don’t know! Aaahhh!
Hey there, love your channel so far. I’m just now exploring putting dreads in and definitely want to stay partial but have no idea where to start??? Salon, or at home? With extensions or without? Do I just start with my natural straight hair and then add the extensions after about a month like your demo? I was hoping for something more “instant”?! Please advise!
The option is yours entirely. Do what makes you feel most comfortable and don't let others judge otherwise. BUT...since you asked I shall give you my opinion. I recommend smaller dreads at the top, slightly thicker towards the middle and a little bit larger towards the bottom underside of the head. I wouldn't go to a salon unless they specialize in dreadlocks and your hair type also they are very expensive! I charge my clients $35 hourly and to do a full set takes up to 6-8 hours sometimes. Salons typically charge anywhere from $50-$75 hourly! I also recommend not putting extensions in right away to see how you like your new look and if you want to make adjustments in the near future or down the road. I do notice that adding extensions in more mature and locked up dreads are a bit trickier. It is easier when they are still newer and fluffy/soft. I hope this was helpful. Let me know how it goes, good luck!
Sorry for spelling "Hotel" wrong in my video hah😂 As a mother of 3, there was a great deal of multitasking happening during my video edits. Xoxo Thanks for watching everyone! Hope the content was enjoyable and helpful!
I have a question for u! I want partial dreads but every salon near me wants to charge a lot or wants to dread perm. I have read that perming is bad for ur hair. So that means I have to do them myself!! This makes me nervous ! I’m terrified to make weak or not well made dreads. I don’t know how much hair to make a dread either as in sectioning. I have hair that touches the back of my calves so I really don’t want to mess up. Pls any advice/help would be absolutely lovely!! Love ur vids too!!!💚
Don't be scared to try yourself! There are plenty of helpful videos out there to watch & learn 😁 That is odd the salons want you to perm? That shouldn't be a requirement or necessary. I'm certain you could also try and find a person like myself who is a small salon/dread business. They won't make you get a perm and should be more affordable. Hope all that helped. Thanks for watching and good luck! 😊✌🕉💙
Sadie Cooksey I’ve done the rip and twist method and I just did the back row of my hair all by myself and I think they look awesome for only being a day old !
I would love to help you in this situation but I do not work with wigs, nor synthetic dreadlocks, only natural hair and extensions... but if I had to give advice on the subject I would say that...yes it is possible to make dreadlocks within your wig and I would section portions off just as I would someone's actual hair/head. You can create them just the same by rubber banding them into sections and back combing the sections then weaving the loose hairs into place by using a crochet hook. I hope this information was helpful and please feel free to reach out again. I would love to help where ever I am able to do so.
Go to UA-cam search bar and type in "(Psychill / Ambient / Slow Trance Mix) AuroraX - Indefatigable Paths" Those exact words will bring it up for you. I LOVE it! It will have a super pretty blue/black stary night sky that looks like you're floating in the universe. You won't regret it. On my channel I have a few music playlist for the public to enjoy. You can find it under my chillstep collection as well. Thanks for watching!
Thanks for doing this video! It may come in handy down the road for me! My first set of dreads I hated having them at my ears too and the top of my head always gave me headaches! The biggest issue to me is having to wash the hair more often than the dreads due to getting greasier faster. With my Natural (new) set, I'm trying to just do really tiny dreads on top and near the ears to see how that goes instead! :D

You bet!!! I wished I could have found one also hah
3 years later ..me too!
Really useful info thank you. I’m contemplating partial and looking into as much info as possible before hand.

I needed this !!! I just want like 10-15 in there . I have long hair but it’s not the thickest I just want something fun to add some volume
I have partial dreads and kept similar hair out....basically, when my hair is pulled back it looks like I have regular hair..I love it!
Nice!
