Phil, my brother, I was backslidden for a couple years and I wanted to tell u that God has used your music in my life recently to melt away the bitterness I felt towards Him. My dad is about your age and grew up in the Jesus People movement so I heard a lot about it growing up. He and his brother played at a lot of events at that time and I’ve always admired that. God led me not only to your music but also to Lonnie Frisbee’s books and the combination of those two things has really changed my heart. Never heard such good music before and as a fellow guitar player and songwriter, I gotta say that you are an inspiration to me. Thank you for your devotion to Christ. I’m grateful God led me to your music. One day you and I are gonna jam together in Heaven! Keep on truckin’ my brother!
Nice song. In my life my one wife who passed on to Heaven 4 weeks ago today, we had no children. But I can still appreciate this song because I wished we had children. My wife wore a black hat and similar to yours Phil, so it reminds me of her again. She is the most Godly woman I ever knew, and I look forward to being close to her again in Heaven if the Lord permits. I know no one is married in Heaven, except the Bride of Believers to Jesus. But Jesus didn't say He rules out close best friends. Thanks Phil for your faith in the Lord, your love for your family and people and your excellent music.
Sweet song with a wonderful message/purpose. What a blessing to be an artist with a grandchild, and what a blessing to have Phil Keaggy for your grandpa! God bless, Phil. Thank you for sharing.
May the prayer and blessing of that song be upon Phil and all his family and everyone else who have been blessed for so many decades by Phil's great gift. Amen.
Yes, that was my reaction, too! The opening chord is exactly the same A6 voicing Phil used for "Portrait," and "Portrait" also shares the 2nd Em7 chord. -Tom
