I had both the 028 super, and 55 rancher. Both were great saws, but that Husky would never start when it was really cold out.I sold the 55,and still run the 028 25 years later.
Have one as well and it runs great! Do you happen to know where I can get a bow bar for it? I got it with one on it which was worn and haven't been able to find another
Both are great firewood saws. I will say the 55 is a bit bigger saw so it should win when equally set up. The husky 51 is really more of an even comparison to the 028 AVS. At that point, I believe the Stihl would beat the husky by about this same margin. They are both very solid saws but I would think the Stihl is a touch more durable and reliable saw between the two. But the Rancher is definitely better built than current clamshell ranchers by a wide margin. I grew up running Stihl saws but I do love my 50 rancher. Mind you the sticks I ran growing up were the 028, 024, 260, 034, and 038 AVS. My old man got a Stihl 440 and my brother had got a 361. Both saws have since been mechanical retired. Same said brother got a 390 to replace his blow up 361, and not has an 046 arctic. My little brother picked up a 290 a few years ago. My uncle and buddy I cut wood with were always Stihl guys too. They have/had Ms270, 036, 361, 362, and 661. None of us have anything against husky or dolmar or anything else. Just our local saw shop is a Stihl dealer. I have some huskies and jonsereds myself now and an echo 590. Honestly, there are loads of very good saws out there regardless of manufacturer. Every one of them made some turds too.
I love my 55 rancher I think it’s an 01-02 model and has been taken care of still looks fairly new the body isn’t all beat up and scratched up and when the bar gets all ruffed up I just put a new one on it and looks like a new saw all over again
Thanks for that. Also, now that I know a bit more, the closed port versions of the 51 and 55 where never quad port designs like this Hyway cylinder is. They where dual port and I believe they were the exact same cylinder as the Jonsered 590. Maybe the Partner 5000+. Not sure if the 5000+ was 44mm or 45mm though.

Thank you for watching! I hope you subscribed!
I still run the 1985 028 AV super WB my father had. Almost 40 years old and still runs like a champ.

Dude.. that husky sounds ported
Where do you bought the muffler mod for the sthil?
Thanks!
Can you give me a part number for the hyway set up? Thanks

It's extremely difficult to argue against a good 55. They are simply excellent saws.
Appears that Stihl bar is slightly longer ,but the husky revs higher..
The Husky 51 piston was 45 mm wide while the 55 is 46 mm wide.

Husqvarna is my saw of choice
It looks like the husky has a couple inches shorter bar
Get someone to sharpen the chains for you and try again....
You pronounced Husqvarna correctly........rare occurrence.....god job.....good video! ! ! ! ! ! ! !
Thanks man! Keep watching. Soon I'll be putting a 28" bar on the 55 and testing it with and without the pipe.
Stock 028 av is 43ccs the Husqvarna 55 is 53 ccs .+ 1 Hp more.Not a fair comparison imo..
It's an 028 Super which is 51 cc with a 46mm bore, so it's really close to the 53cc husky 55. The original 43cc 028 you reference was only 42mm bore.
028 stihl is 52cc btw
Aun asi la motosierra sthil 028 esta en desventaja ya que tiene una cilindrada de 43cc y la husbarna 55 tiene una cilindrada de 55cc.
No. The Stihl 028 Super has much more displacement than the original 028. Th Stihl is 51.5cc. The Husqvarna is 53cc.
Husky seems much better
Ha ha ha you are going to cause the stihl fans to have a anarizum there heads are going to explode
It's 'aneurism', and yes, as a Stihl fan I think I need medical attention!
I'll take the stihl all day long over the husqvarna
We all have our preferences, nothing wrong with that. The 028 Super is definitely one of my favorite Stihls.
@@novicelumberjack yes sir but that husqvarna was kicking butt
That's a damn good running 55 buddy👍🏻🤘🏻🪓
Yeah. LOVE my 55! Others will out cut it, but damn, it's just...SOLID!
Sounds awesome too!
