One of the best farm/ranch saws of its time!

It may not be the strongest, it may not be the fastest but I like these saws!

I'm going to he doing my second one this winter. Niiice 51 chassis that i'm pretty sure someome straight gassed. Going to do an OEM 55 top end with maybe a light port job

There are 2 closed port kits available now on the bay yours truly (Boedy) is probably responsible for… so there’s the hyway kit which had an incorrect non windowed piston, the hyway WITH the correct windowed piston, and now there is a Meteor kit not sure which piston but I’m sure if you look around… get the windowed piston. Btw all the oem closed ports partner jugs I believe were 45mm the hyway is 46. So the Meteor one check the bay, little red barn, the dukes, etc for a 45mm windowed +/- hi top piston if you want. The open ports were 46mm as 99% the kits you find on the bay. Have fun

I have a 55 (not Rancher) and never would have thought you could get enough power from it to do a 24-inch bar justice. IMPRESSIVE...

There’s just something about a 55 chassis I think it’s the perfect size… there are vids of people running 28 on a modded Stihl 261 and one guy ran a 32 on a 50.3cc echo and I swear it has me re think everything about chainsaws I ever thought… it was that fast. But yeah this 53 should give those 50cc’s a run for their lunch money and if it wasn’t for the rings on my stock 261cm going it would be interesting to see what a Strato motor can do. When I saw that 50cc echo pull that 32 like a boss I thought about selling ALL my saws …for a split second. It was 3/8’s too

Just aquired a 50 Rancher last weekend and already have the big bore ordered(piston was worn out). Would love to get your numbers for it.

Big bore may not fit your case. If it doesn't, you will need to bore the case so the piston can reach bottom dead center. Once you have it fitting, 107⁰ on exhaust roof, 78-80⁰ intake, 122⁰ transfers. They also need a huge ignition advance of about 8-10⁰.

That’s a very hot 55. Have you had the chance to run a 254xp? I’ve been following the channel for a bit. Have seen the 257 and 262. 254. Is the smallest on the chassis. But may be my favorite. 2mm longer stroke than the 55. Would be a cool comparison
