The Gold and White 1956 Dodge Lancer is a very special limited production D-500 model Dodge's first muscle car. The D-500 was built for NASCAR it had a very special solid lifter 315 cubic inch Hem with special suspension and brakesi. The 1956 D-500 was also successful in drag racing and was the first pure stock American sedan to do 100 mph in the quarter mile..

Wish he would have kept Karen’s Burgundy color Jaguar…
Does Richard allow the public to tour his collection??

I believe he only allows car club or other organizations to view the collection privately.

That's Karen's black Mercedes Benz 350 SL at 0:20 and at 2:45 is the red Ferrari that's on the Carpenters "Now & Then" album cover.

Notes that they did not say anything about Karens 350SL. Sorry, but it was the Ferrari Daytona on the album cover of the album not the GTC4. They look alike and same color, you can tell by the door handles.

Thats a bad ass collection. I knew he collected but didn't know he had this many. How many in total? 64-66 T-Birds are sweet.

What event was this?? Was Richard present?

It was the Southern California region of the Rolls Royce Owners Club outing to Richard Carpenter’s collection, and regrettably he was not there. His curator was there to answer any questions.

What would you rather own? 35 collectible cars worth 3.5 million or 35 collectible gold coins worth 3.5 million? I wonder what this car collection is actually worth?

Good question. The value is in the fun we have with the cars. If the price goes up or down is unrelated. You can drive the cars around and have fun with friends and family. Gold is a great investment but you can’t drive it around.

@@stevenhorowitz5162 My sister Kathy (God rest her soul, died at age 49) was a huge Carpenters fan from the moment they hit the scene in the music industry with their album OFFERING. Wouldn't she smile if I bought one of Richard's cars! She was born in 1957. I was born in 1959. Our family left the Los Angeles area in November of 1966 to move to Texas. Been here ever since. Our sister Karen was stillborn in 1955. She is buried in common crypt in the Los Angeles area, Woodlawn Cemetery in Santa Monica.
