Kelly is clearly wanting to date other guys, she loves parties and pretty much everything Dylan hates. Why the writers got these two together was a dumb idea and it ruined the show. These two were just toxic and the back and forth was so exhausting. Brenda was the real thing, a real relationship. Kelly and Dylan were doomed from the start.
They barely manage to be a couple, barely survive High School let alone College... Realistically speaking two so incompatible who do nothing but argue wouldn't have lasted even a month but the writers had to force it because Brenda wasn't a long term option anymore...
She did want him to be like everyone else. I think Dylan and Valerie had more chemistry than him and Kelly. I hate the way when Brenda left they acted as if Dylan and Kelly was soul mates when they never acted like soul mates they didnt even act like they had a connection. Kelly jusy used him as something she wanted to act like was hers through the years.
dylan and val DEFINITELY had way more chemistry than dylan and kelly. the problem with val is that she corrupts people, she had a negative influence on dylan, despite the fact that dylan was already in a dark place to begin with. of course dylan and brenda is always and forever the GOAT relationship, because brenda is everything and beyond. and dylan is a better person when he is with brenda. i think brenda genuinely cared about dylan in a very selfless way. i think for kelly, it was more of a selfish, ambitious type relationship, where she just wanted the status of having the coolest/james dean type guy and to know that now she finally WON dylan and had him to herself thus beating brenda and taking away the one thing that brenda had that made kelly very jealous. for brenda, her love for dylan was very pure, genuine, organic, natural, easy. for kelly, it seemed forced, strained. i dont think kelly ever truly understood dylan, understand what he was all about. i think brenda understood him a lot better, and also i think that if brenda and dylan stayed together, somehow i don't think dylan would spiral out of control the way he did with the drugs/losing his money/etc. also after brenda left, dylan became way more serious with each episode. he lost a lot of his positive outlook on life/his humor, granted he was never the funniest character, but at least with brenda he had more moments of lightheartedness because of the warmth he received from the walsh family. i know the forums/message boards/die hard fans still discuss the dylan/brenda/kelly till this day. so if that particular plot line was never written into the show, i wonder how we would look back on the show today. but of course, of course, i agree that ultimately, breaking up dylan and brenda, and then never having the opportunity bring them back together hurt the show so much.
@@linkinthebio27 I agree with you too. I never liked Dylan and Kelly together at all. I couldnt stand when they made it seem like they was supposed to be soul mates. Its like how you guys didnt even act like you liked each other. They could talk as friends but they never got alone when they dated. The only time they got a long a little bit is when they was cheating while Brenda was gone. Kelly was so self absorbed Dylan couldnt look a different direction than her or she had a problem with it. She didnt like anything he did or said unless he was with someone else or she was then she was interested. Kelly didnt care about Dylan but she didnt want no one else to have him she just wanted Dylan to pine for her.
@@carriesobek1591 yes totally agree. i think if we just think of one of kelly's most famous and quoted lines "i choose me." it tells you all you need to ever know about who she is deep down. she always, always chooses herself, first and foremost. i think for kelly it was the thrill of game and the hunt that satisfied her the most. that's why she hated val the most, because val never took any s h i t from kelly and was a true rival. because remember, she always wanted to one up brenda, because she was jealous of her because of dylan, maybe also because brenda had such a good, warm home life, plus brenda had an awesome personality being able to perform so well on stage. kelly always wanted to be QUEEN B, and she saw brenda as a threat to that. also if you notice, she also felt threatened a bit by andrea, because of andrea's smarts. bc when andrea wanted brandon to take her to the spring dance in season 1, kelly went ahead and asked brandon to go with her instead. so basically kelly took out her main two competitors to the throne (brenda and andrea) by hooking up with the two guys that were loved by brenda and andrea. kelly got dylan and brandon.
This dialogue proves once again that Kelly's crush on Dylan was a childhood one Kelly was in love with the idea of Dylan she had formed in her head over the years In fact when they become a couple she continually asks him to change and do things he doesn't like He and Brenda as a couple also had flaws and arguments but she never asked him to change and they adapted to what the other liked of their own free will for what they felt not out of a desperate request
it's interesting that david didn't catch on quicker that donna was trying to mix it up a bit and do a sort of bit/segment light hearted ribbing to spice up the show. as a supposed/self proclaimed master mc and disk jockey, he should have caught on and played along right away, rather than taking it personally.
donna was super annoying and David's haircut.. what's up with that??? as for Dylan and Kelly.. I just don't like their coupling. Dylan belongs with Brenda. should have went to London with Erica after rescuing her. and reunite with his high school sweetheart. can't believe it's Brenda's last season.
Right? After all those years David respecting her wish to remain a virgin, she has the audacity to call him a dog on air. She needa to get over herself. 🙄
But you guys should understand Donna. She was lacking sleep. She was doing the job to support David’s goals. It was mean of her. But when work drains your body, you get angry. I feel her exhaustion.
I never liked how Kelly acted around Dylan after his dad got blown up in the car. She was being kind of a jerk during the funeral and it seemed like the only people who really cared for his well being were the Walshes (especially Brenda), save for Donna, Nat, Steve, David (even though he had to unfortunately skip out early to meet with those douche bags at the recording studio), and Andrea. It was so sad.

Kelly and Dylan seem like that couple who each call out other people’s names during sex and are too over it to even care.
I watched this episode when it aired in 1993, I didn’t know for years what GDI meant 😂
