*Two straight men in real life that did an incredible job playing gay characters on TV* BRAVO! 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻 Edit: I’m referring to Eric & Patrick. Not “Jack.”
This show was one of those delightfully rare times in television history where everything lined up as wonderfully as it could at the right time, the right angles, the right creativity, the right edgy humor, the right everything. Watch reruns and they still are funny! 🤣😂🤣🤭😃🙌🏻👍🏻
This is reigniting my trauma with dating a closeted gay man! I wish I was this strong when I confronted him. Well I found a man who was as open and proud as I am, and we are now approaching 8 years!
Patrick playing a gay character I can't believe I missed this episode. Proof that sexuality can easily be portrayed in character and be comfortable with one's own personal sexuality.
@@willnye9788 plenty of actors are homophobic. Even some gay men are homophobic. Playing a fictional gay character doesn’t automatically mean Patrick is comfortable in his sexuality in real life. You’re acting like u know personal things about him/his sexuality and u don’t

@Mitch-Alex I'm sorry these people are being so rude! It's great that you chose yourself and self expression over someone who was clearly insecure about their choices and needed to deal with that! Hope you're in a happier space! 🌈🌈
@@Hello-hello-hello456 Everybody's a part of society though. It always comes down to everyone's choices. Some people have more courage than others and they are the ones who make progress happen
You just had to play along because anything else would mean losing your job, your friends, sometimes your place, and your family. There was no use getting bent out of shape over that. That was crazy. You either had what you needed to survive or you didn't. It's just the way things were. Maybe not in the 90s and early 2000s but definitely before that.
The way you typed that out so perfectly is so thought-provoking to me. My formative years was during this phase of our society. I'm still working to unravel some of the effects now. I loved watching this scene today and thinking about how in the 90's and early 2000's-- I didn't believe that being externally true to my feminine nature or having a Loving Gay partner to fall in love with and grow old with were actual Life options. "Don't Ask Don't Tell" is something I think of frequently. I'm so thankful to the progress we've made as a society. We've grown more and more accepting of others. We're not in "survival" mode any longer and I'm thankful to live and interact around happier, more accepting, kinder people. People who are blessed to have more work-life balance which drives them to happier states out and about-- hopefully some of that translates to an easy-going nature of accepting others for who they are so long as they're not harming others!
My boyfriend and I were not allowed to rent a one bedroom place in Virginia in 1986. They told us it was against the law and that two guys, even if they were straight, would have to rent two bedrooms. What a world!
We bought a house in 1993; both of us were "out" to family and friends, but we were not stereo-typical "gay". Very "straight" acting, actually. Not into that lifestyle in the slightest (we were actually conservatives). Yet we were still scared to death we would be targets. Complete opposite! We and the two families on each side of us had the best relationships. They said we helped open their eyes and almost felt quilty. Seven years later the couples were going their own ways, but we ended up together in that house for 37 years. But the struggle was real back then. We were blessed to be so loved and accepted. It was not the norm.
It's a hard lesson to learn but not everyone is able to be out and proud and it just leads to heartache when they can't be who they really are. Sadly they hurt themselves and every other person they attempt to have a relationship with. It's tragic that for many people it's not better now than when this show aired.
Imagine going through all the drama of coming out of the closet after struggling with a lot of issues…and then coming back to closet because of your boyfriend…just the idea of it seems surreal…😒
This is who Will should’ve ended up with. Both equally handsome and their chemistry was great.
