This thing is seriously cool. Also welldone to your wife on the "what does my wife think" segment, it's not easy going in front of the camera and I thought she did a great job
First off, I laughed way harder than I should have at the gas tank falling out on you and dumping nasty gas everywhere (been there). 2nd you have a winner there with your wife Mr. McCool. I don't think many women would be that happy about their husband's bringing home something in that state. She should definitely be a regular feature on the channel 👌
Your wife was pretty gracious, things considered. Was half expecting her to burst out laughing 😃. You got a winner there, my friend. As for a name, how about Barraturda, the unpolishable one?
Was great meeting you and your wife at MoParty this year. I didn't realize the Cuda even ran, or I would have asked to drive it.....Not! Too much rusted metal, and I've had a tetnus shot in the last 10 years. Hope to see you again next year.
The wife thing was priceless.. her honest opinion was written all over her face.. I'm sorry brother,, but I was laughing so hard.. This Girl appreciates and loves you very much..
@ Roert Desrocher You weren't the only one laughing that hard!! YES, the 'honest' answer was on her face, it's just kinda like that motherly look to the toddler who can't figure it out -"you poor thing, you've NO clue, do you?".
The wife's reaction was definitely the high point of the video! I think MANY of us watching this video have seen a VERY similar face from our loving wives.. the cool part is how many are very accepting of the cars we bring home , KNOWING the outcome is a car they enjoy to ride in , to the local car shows and restaurants and drag strip
My wife has been angry once or twice with some of the heaps I have drug home! Even though each and every one was put back on the road looking good in the end!
To be honest I'm a fan of your wife.....she didn't mind the car. That says alot about her as a person . Well done on having a great wife. I agree it needs a clutch..and stuff
I love the “what does my wife think” segment. As someone who is married to the opposite of a car person…she has said very little to discourage me about my car collection, including my current restoration sitting in the driveway…flat tires and all. Not to mention the metal recycle pile that grows and shrinks over and over as I do work and make runs to the recycling center, lol. You have to truly appreciate the patience and tolerance of what must seem like insanity that our significant others afford us. She has flat out told me she doesn’t understand why my old ‘ran down’ truck is worth so much, and why don’t I just sell it and just buy a newer one that works if it’s worth as much as it is.
I'm thinking, yeah, put a clutch in that challenger and see about getting the time down. In the future, it would be super sweet to see you do a hemi swap in a 70s 4x4 dodge. Maybe a 3\4 ton and that could be your tow rig. Something to think about.
That’s the same way that my 17 year old son removed the gas tank on his 71 Monte Carlo, and he has an electric fuel pump also, so when I got home and there was 150 pounds of kitty litter on the driveway I had to ask why he didn’t just turn on the fuel pump and empty the tank into the four empty 5 gallon used oil container sitting right next to his car
Had a 71Cuda 383. Pollution got the 440 leaving 340/383. Totally 💩 engines! In 72 Mopar offered two four barrels which were NO help! They figured out the pollution problem and the 440 came back. Sold it at a loss and that was my "regret" car!!
I love how soft Your wife's voice is She is trying so hard to Be Super Nice she heard the motor and was like oh yeah that helps makes your buying mistake way better Hunny lol 😆 🤣🤣 @Dylan McCool
I'd really like to see you bring this one back, show just how good you can make it on a budget. Doesn't have to be perfect, just straighten out the dents, maybe a flat original color paint job. Your wife was so funny (her face spoke volumes), and yes you really do need to put that on a shirt.
Love that you save these old cars. Especially crump. Congratulations didn't know you were married. Been watching for years.. love first and second generation Dakotas. Really I like any old car especially 60s and 70s
She the sweetest southern Tennessee girl, you can hear it in her voice and her laugh, not to mention that her more than pleasant reaction. The car, I never would have bought that. Don't get me wrong it's going to be great for content, just not a project for my pocket. Bless your wife...
Watching this brought back a memory from my younger days. I got an old Dodge Dart GT 1967. What I thought was a cool car and it was . I asked my Dad, What do you think Pop??? He leaned his head over to give it a look and said. Son I think you should jack up the radiator cap and drive another car under it... I built that car up to something really great and drove it everywhere and passed it around to family members but that old car always ran like a champ...
I know your wife fell to the floor laughing off camera 😂 I love cars and my fresh reaction would be what the hell is that! With that said it doesn't sound all that bad, watching your videos I got a feeling you'll bring her back around into a perfect running condition. Body wise that's a different story. Keep up the great work and be safe out there 👍✌️🇺🇲
“We should prolly check the firing order, nah, too much work.” 😂 brother im super stoked about the challengers passes! Cus i already know your probably gonna throw some super nice stuff into it and i wanna see it run a 10 second pass! And hey at least the turdcuda was able to do some donuts!
Yes, please more on this one! Do a series and roadsteration like the Challenger. This is as amazing a story if not better than the Challenger and it deserves to be a nice car again. You've already got the engine, replace or do some body work on the panels, and a great interior so your wife will ride in it. Save the bullet holes if you can. POLISH THE TURD!!!!!!
Boy that Cruda (Crude-a in my head) is a beauty of a machine. The fact the headlight rolled out and kept working gave me the image of Quasimodo as a car!
These are the best kind of cars you can buy, doesn't matter how much money you lose. It's about the history and story it can tell, this thing is downright awesome!
A couple of name ideas: Barely-cuda - 'nuff said 'bout that. But, given its heritage, I suggest it is a new species - a Wadi Cuda! Wadi Cuda - Sphyraena Desertum, commonly known as the Wadi Barracuda, is a species of barracuda that inhabits the desert washes of the Southwest United States. They have a misshapen body and are faded blue, mottled grey, dark rust and dirty brown in color, with protruding metal bits and containing many sharp, ancient or tentative parts of unequal size. Never found in schools (or workplaces or home driveways), they can be found in non-visible habitats such as behind scraggly groves of trees, wastelands, and abandoned barns. They can be considered dangerous predators in proximity, given that almost nothing takes them seriously, and can immobilize their prey, causing fits of uncontollable laughter and bouts of severe underestimation of capabilities. Somewhat unhealthy, given their tendency for non-stop smoking.
your lady definitely loves ya buddy...you could see it in her face, the not wanting to be BRUTALLY HONEST, but also wanting to be supportive of your passion and the channel...polish a turd shirt idea is spot on... name for the car??.... The Tetanus Express"
The theme to this car comes from a country western song "What was I thinking", from your wife's expression, dumping the old gas tank, to the windshield. It looked like a lot of fun, glad you took us along.
I think the challenger would greatly benefit from a Centerforce dual friction clutch. I have one in my truck and love it, also have a friend who had one in a 440 6pack roadrunner making approximately 500hp that he drag raced for years at Cecil County Maryland. He broke an 8 3/4 rear and destroyed a driveshaft but never had an issue with the clutch.
Cam timing seems to be the problem, it sounds like the chain is stretched. Replace the distributor while you're at it. Whoever had it before you had the timing seriously advanced, usually people do that to make up for a stretched chain.
"Project String Theory" is an awesome car when it was as it is now....Love these cars and I couldn't do anything but display it. Dylan, it's cool your giving these beauties another crank at rolling.
It doesn't matter who or what, the main thing is you had an experience that not everybody can have. The burnout happened, but needed some more umph. I always like your videos and would like to see more of the cuda
You might try a trick I learned on clearing up haze on Lexan. Get a blow torch and heat it up carefully and it will clear back up. Just an idea bro. Love your channel!
My name idea for the car is: "Bautismo del Arroyo"(Baptism of the Arroyo). Kind of a play on the words "Baptism by fire", but since you said it was in a wash or an "arroyo" as we call them, it kind of feels a bit clever, if unoriginal. But, I think it's somewhat honorable, since the car was brought back to life after such hardships. Thrown down there to be drowned and washed away, only to be brought back to the road/track to live a new, if albeit, roughed up life.
Cool video. Looks likeveryone was having a good time. Constructive feedback... The Rode Wireless Go II is a handy wireless microphone system. It is kind of distracting to have one mic on one speaker and one mic on the other. If you don't want to make it mono in post, I believe there is an option you can set in the phone app that will have it output a mono mix to your camera, so you don't have that issue. They have the stereo option so that you can adjust each channel in post as needed to level the volume, but it is nicer to listen to if you make it mono in post if you are using this mode.
Ha...love seeing your wife on cam and her reaction to the car. lol Full tank of gas was a disaster waiting to happen! LOL This car seems up your ally but I think I'd only drag race it. Where's the old Plymouth!?
As a 1959 model new, my body is starting to resemble this Barely-Cuda. I had a 1972 Barracuda I bought with 60 thousand miles in 1978, when I was 19 and for $1200. It was just starting to rust, with a 318 2-barrel and a 3 speed manual transmission. I sold it in 1980 to buy a motorcycle and a $200 car, so I could save on gas and insurance 6 months every year while going to college. The best part was the looks, after new paint and new carpet. The worst part was the front suspension, I think it needed a new front axle and wheel bearing since the one front wheel never balanced, and the torsion rods instead of springs was just dumb. It did cost less than a similar Camaro back then, likely more now.
The cuda deserves to be brought back to its former glory. I mean not full-on Graveyard Carz style but it should at least look somewhat as good as it did in better times. We don't see many of these on the road today and I believe that it is a special car ! Cheers and great video as usual !
First time watching your video. I'm a Mopar guy from the 60's . It may be hard to believe but I just bought a 69 Corvair that was a behind the barn find , sat there for about 20 years has less paint on it than your Cuda, but the body is straight. The wife asked if it was green or gold , it was actually mold LOL. Look forward to more videos on the cuda.
Man that car needs to redeem it self at the No Name Nationals Burnout Competition this weekend (Friday Night) at Jeffers Motorsports Park! Great video brother!
Looks like quite a challenge. Glad a spark didn't ignite the fuel you dumped. Nice seeing your beautiful wife Allie. Always enjoy seeing youtuber families.
Sand all the rust down to bare metal, fix the dangerously rusted areas, let it surface rust again and seal the natural rust with a matte clear coat. That's what i'd personally like to see. The car needs to be preserved. It's somewhat of an american icon in the making.
Your wife is sweet a bit camera shy and she’s definitely honest with you Dylan and I respect that. Name for the Barracuda hmmm 🤔. The Krusty Kuda ? Rusty? Upgrades finish upgrade the fuel pump and lines and filters. A complete tuneup on this cuda. As far as your challenger a good performance clutch kit and that’s it. May Y’all have a Blessed One.
This is cool! As for names. The River Relic..Fish Outta Water..Creek Chubb Cuda..Bad Idea Cuda..The Wrong Fish…Twisted Fish..Warped Fish..Trashy Fish..The Cuda Carcass..The Mangled Fish…or maybe it’s no longer a Cuda it’s a TUNA
I know that look. My wife gives it to me quite often over the last 20 years when I have brought home rough stuff. Its the, sigh he’s excited again. Ephesians 5:22 again.
“Buda Cuda” haha. Always neat to see what you’ll do next. Loved that red Mustang II in the background of where you pulled this cuda out. Do any more work on that Cobra II ?
Your wife is amazing, Make sure you buy her something nice for filming that for you! As for a name all I can come up with is "The little car that Cuda" in my defence I just got up and haven't even finish my coffee yet.
My wife is like yours, so I know first hand how great it is to have an understanding and especially gracious wife to go through life with. God loves us, for sure.
Always love watching your stuff when I got the time. 1972 Torino Sedan in the background when you picked up the Challenger. Such a bad ass car, that front end! Your wife was also very nice... My wife would just get pissed off, 100%. Best parts: balance... BALANCE... **BANG** glug glug glug (going to admit to it: I rewinded that a couple of times...) that's terrible... **sniffs it again** As far as a name for the Challenger? Guess "Washed Up" is the way to go. Since it was pulled out of a darn wash...
This thing is seriously cool. Also welldone to your wife on the "what does my wife think" segment, it's not easy going in front of the camera and I thought she did a great job

Agreed

A couple of name ideas:
Barely-cuda - 'nuff said 'bout that.
But, given its heritage, I suggest it is a new species - a Wadi Cuda!
Wadi Cuda - Sphyraena Desertum, commonly known as the Wadi Barracuda, is a species of barracuda that inhabits the desert washes of the Southwest United States.
I remember seeing this Cuda all the time IN Az back when it was in the Ravine @Dylan McCool
My god that gas tank drop was a epic fail don’t start the engine in case of a back fire
she had that deer in the headlight look . Bless her heart
"Could be worse." The kind words of a loving, tolerant, and supportive spouse.
“Buda Cuda” haha. Always neat to see what you’ll do next. Loved that red Mustang II in the background of where you pulled this cuda out. Do any more work on that Cobra II ?
It looks like it caught on fire and they put it out with a rake 🤣
It was cool seeing you and your cars at Moparty last weekend. Thanks for bringing the fleet out!
Name it Noble Rot. The car is awesome with the backstory and your wife is cool with her accent. God bless you both.
Name for this car should be 'Bury-this-cuda'! I like the car and hope to see more content. Like what your wife had to say about it. LOL
One name I though of is "The BarelyCuda".. Cause it's barely a car to begin with. Still awesome that it's driving
Hey Dylan I'll take the 58' belvedere over the cuda or challenger any day of the week !
Your wife is amazing, Make sure you buy her something nice for filming that for you! As for a name all I can come up with is "The little car that Cuda"
in my defence I just got up and haven't even finish my coffee yet.
Also today on Dylan McCool, a lesson in why you use a siphon pump to empty the gas tank before ya remove it :p
Best parts:
balance... BALANCE... **BANG** glug glug glug (going to admit to it: I rewinded that a couple of times...)
that's terrible... **sniffs it again**
As far as a name for the Challenger? Guess "Washed Up" is the way to go. Since it was pulled out of a darn wash...
Good video Dylan!, Don’t forget that socket wrench by your right rear tail light
You bought a car named Mr. Hanky! You truly have a good heart.
