Dutch was unbelievable as a heel in Memphis he also brought the undertaker in as the master of pain I was blessed to grow up close to Memphis and getting to grow watching some of the best ever
My brother and I love to say that the miz is dumb for ever having anyone at his side not named Maryse. He is always winning with her, and fails hilariously with others
She did well with other "charges" as a heat magnet or giving lines, but The men were either booked so bad or underwhelming there was nothing for her to do. She stole Duece and Domino from Cherry (supposedly Cherry's BF and own brother) and made Cherry an unlikely strong babyface for a bit. But Cherry was released and creative decided not to keep Maryse with the greaser gimmick. So that was dropped. She also was the spoiled girlfriend of Ted Bibase Jr for a while when he was doing a Trust Fund brat gimmick. She played the role well, but creative forgot about Ted (who just wasn't a big star kinda guy despite look and pedigree) so that didnt last long either.
I fully believe that had they had Swagger win MITB while being managed by Zeb. It would have been far better than Swagger winning it as his "All American American." gimmick.
@@theblackcircle6648 So? It's a storyline and if people get angry over a storyline then that means Swagger and Zeb would have been doing their jobs as heels well.
Iirc, wasn't Swagger caught for DUI just before his wm match with Del Rio? I was expecting him to win the title then, but was made to lose instead because of the DUI incident.
I hated Zeb Colter. He played his heel character so well that he actually made me want to jump a barrier and push his old ass off that scooter. He has my absolute respect as a human being, anybody able to make me that mad, or make me hate the character they play as much as I did his, is an amazing actor and performer. Well done, Dutch Mantel, I'll buy you a beer if I ever meet you.

Man I used to love seeing Jamie noble and Nidia on TV, and by love I mean hate but in the best ways lol, the whole blind Nidia story with noble using her as a shield was great heel stuff
Lio Rush was a good manager and took the role to handle the mic time, boosting the credibility of Bobby Lashley across mid-2018 until early-2019. Some segments were hilarious and others made us hate him so bad, many wanted to punch him. 😂
I take your point about Teddy Long being wasted as a referee but he certainly wasn’t “flavourless”. His distinctive voice and willingness to shout out EXACTLY what the wrestlers were doing wrong was great fun.
Paul Ellering deserves a spot on any follow up list you do. His work with the AoP made them one of my favourite teams ever. I was gutted when they split them up.
Just me who feels Lana managing Rusev should be in this list? before WM 31 their chemistry and working the crowd was top notch and you can’t argue against how good of a heel they were
You forgot about Ric Flair managing his daughter Charlotte. Also Teddy Long managed Doom (Ron Simmons and Butch Reed) in WCW and was also a referee in WCW. Dutch Mantell, who is originally from SC, was one half of the tag team the Kansas Jayhawks with Bobby Jaggers during his in ring days.
I remember when Zeb and Swagger were turned face out of nowhere to feud with Rusev. Those few weeks were pretty amazing and the crowd was super hot for the angle.
Estrada is by far one of my favorite managers of all time too bad he stayd for that role only for one year i was always hoping they will bring him back to be manager for Colons since they are not good talkers but that never happend :/
I was today years old when I realized Don Callis was The Jackle. I use to watch so much RAW from the Attitude Era on the WWE Network and I never made the connection. 🤦♂️
WWE should have more managers. They can be a vital part of a program when used right. I myself would like to see a General Skandor Akbar type of manager these days
Dutch Mantel has always been great on the mic and for those lucky enough to get to watch him wrestle in Memphis probably agree it's a shame he's not in the HOF him and the king had some classic fueds
From what I read, they kinda screwed Callis over. Had him cut promos over his teams matches then fired him under the justification that he was getting himself over on the backs of the talent. I feel like Mason should have used his IRL name to create an air of legitimacy or at least give more weight to his credentials, but that would have no doubt become problematic later in his run. At least problematic for his non-wrestling career. Did not learn until many years later on why Teddy Long seemed to hold so much sway over the Phenom. Which is that he was his manager back in wCw when he was Mean Mark Callous.
my fav manager of all time is someone i feel is underrated as a manager, and that is "the million dollar man" ted debiase. if i could pick any manager from any point in time to manage me as a wrestler it would be him because; A. if ur being managed by someone called "the million dollar man" u must be valuable, B. the best kind of manager would be a former wrestler who knew the ring inside and out so he could give u brilliant advice, C. he was a master of the microphone so he could tell the crowd how and why u were the best wrestler
Can't believe you got Lio Rush on here I really think you should of had MVP in his spot cause I really think he did more with the little he got then Lio has if you ask me!
I think Armando Alejandro Estrada should be on here the fact that they just got rid of him really didn't make sense they could have brought him back to manage somebody else then again and I can't imagine the guy with anybody else but Umaga and her mother was one of the best restaurants out there it's just so sad that he got written out and then a few years later Umaga died of complications from drugs we just sad I'm sure they would have made him WWE champion Umaga I mean and Estrada was even once ECW chairman but then again the ECW of that wasn't as an ECW as people liked.
Zeb Colter was so freaking under appreciated. He was an excellent promo during bland era of WWE. He knew how to draw heat
He was so good they had to publicly go “This isn’t real” on tv lol
Who? Oh you mean Dutch
No doubt, Duval. I hated the whole anti-immigration bit but the fact he got me so worked up was proof of how good he was.
That's cos Dutch was a draw in the 80s on promos when ric flair and Randy savage were the best on the stick.
Dutch was unbelievable as a heel in Memphis he also brought the undertaker in as the master of pain I was blessed to grow up close to Memphis and getting to grow watching some of the best ever
Feel like Ricardo Rodriguez deserves a mention for his work as Alberto Del Rio’s manager
Loved Ricardo Rodriguez he was great
But he wasn't. He was only his ring announcer and servant. That's like saying Virgil was Ted DiBiase's manager. But I kinda get your point though.
Maybe in another video
Even his brief run with RVD was great too 👍
He doesn’t he was awful and unfunny
MVP, Selina Vega, Bivens, Paul Ellering all deserve to be far more celebrated as managers.
I'm giving an honourable mention to Maryse. Miz often at his best when she is at ringside with him
My brother and I love to say that the miz is dumb for ever having anyone at his side not named Maryse. He is always winning with her, and fails hilariously with others
Fun fact: They are married irl and have two daughters together

Ron Simmons and Butch Reed were monsters.
Great with Teddy, but got started with Woman and some Bob Seger music coming down the aisle. R.I.P. Nancy / Woman

I fully believe that had they had Swagger win MITB while being managed by Zeb. It would have been far better than Swagger winning it as his "All American American." gimmick.
Or even Cesaro when he was part of the real Americans
also imagine the heat they would have created if they did those propaganda promos in 2016 instead of 2014, they might have even make it to the news

Harry Potter and Always Loved Zeb Colter He Was One Of Those Heel Managers
Pretty sure Estrada lost his position as manager when he took his shirt off and Vince saw how surprisingly cut he was, put him on ECW to wrestle.
He was the guy in that Chris Harris promo that killed his career
Rico with Billy and Chuck and 3 minute warning was elite

Tbf to Colter, at least they made him heel, that exact character would have been given to a face Hulk Hogan in the early 90s.
Too bad Vince McMahon got rid of Armando Alejandro Estrada. I thought he was a great manager for Umaga.

Zeb Colter is underrated manager . Shame that Jack Swagger never won the World title at WM 29 at the time
Well that’s because he pulled an RVD in 2013.
Well Jack Swagger was trash
