    Thanks Kelly, this tutorial is brilliant , the subtle layers you've given are great to play around with. I'm very grateful as it's going to take a lot longer to perform well on banjo. Cheers from Australia

    You deserve way more thumbs ups than this. I think if you had started out with playing the song first? That way you hook them into wanting to learn it because you do it so well. You did a great job of instructing how to play it also though. Thank you. It's a keeper. Btw I just subscribed. Excellent content. Thank you for sharing your talent and knowledge

    This is in fact a song written and played by John Hartford, it was later sung by Glen Campbell. You should listen to Hartford doing the song it will give you some great ideas about strum patterns. Regards AL

      Hi Al thanks - ya I've seen the John Hartford version as well (noted him as the writer at :10 in the video). He was a very talented guy - gone too soon! There's a video of him at a big awards show - might've been the Bluegrass Awards? and he's playing the banjo with a bunch of the award winners - a real who's who of Bluegrass. It's fantastic! Thanks!! Kelly

      @@clawmann haha I hear you Al - he (and others like him) make it look so effortless don't they? Have you ever seen the video of Carl Jackson and Ashley Campbell (Glen's daughter) do that song? They have a really nice version with him playing guitar and her on the banjo - closer to John Hartford's original version I'd say. Carl Jackson - another guy that can really play - banjo and guitar!

      Hi Wanda - thanks so much! If you're more of a beginner take a look on the channel for "Blue Eyes Crying in the Rain" (there are 2 - one for a regular uke and one for baritone) or maybe "500 Miles". You may like those ones. Thanks!

    On your UA-cam site you have close up of a ukulele bridge at the top ..... are you trying to see if I have OCD?🤣
    The strings are tied off in different directions at the bridge. 😱

    • @fourstringstrummer
      @fourstringstrummer  2 роки тому +1

      I prefer the unwound strings on the ukulele. Not sure they sound that much different - its more of a feel thing and the fact that there's no "squeak" when you slide up and down the neck.

    Hello, I decided to pop on over the ring that Bell from the kudos that rich Davis gave you. I like the pop-up chords you've got going here, a real help for the beginner. I've got a baritone gcea and a baritone dgbe and was wondering if you could show a few chords with the same finger placement that play on both? Just so I can strum a few bars without having to give it too much thought, that would be much appreciated 👍

    • @fourstringstrummer
      @fourstringstrummer  2 роки тому +1

      Hi there. For the GCEA tuned baritone the chords would be the same as what are shown in the video. For the DGBE to play this song you would use the finger positioning from the GCEA for F (which would give you C), Gm (which would give you Dm) and C7 (which would give you G7). Does that help? I also have a couple of videos specifically for Baritone Ukulele as well.
      Thanks - Kelly

    I really like this one. You have so many songs for me to work on. I’m still stuck in beginner mode but I don’t mind. I just like playing along when I can Was wondering what strings you prefer on your ukulele. I have the same strings my Ohana came with. Some people talk about changing them. I have heard worth clear or worth browns are good. Any thoughts ?

    • @fourstringstrummer
      @fourstringstrummer  11 місяців тому +1

      Hey Bonnie. I haven't tried the Worth strings yet. I've had good luck with Aquila - Super Nylgut and Reds - so far those have been my "go to" strings. Alex on the Southern Ukulele Store channel did a really good video on all of the various strings, differences in material etc a couple of years ago. He got into a fair amount of depth without going overboard. I found it really interesting and well done.
